I just arrived to this bus terminal in Sacramento. After sitting for several hours on the bus (greyhound bus was very spacious and comfortable) I along with several other woman had to use the restroom. 3 of the 5 stalls were locked and unable to be used. The handicapped stall was out of TP. The line for the one open toilet was long. When I asked the only employee why the other stalls were locked, the response I received was, and I quote "yea I know, we keep it that way, there are two stalls you call use" when I mentioned that the handicapped stall had no toilet paper, all she said was "yea, I know were out, you can walk 2 blocks to the McDonald's if you need to use the bathroom" while in her phone. I can't believe that a bus terminal has no toilet paper for the number of people coming through this place throughout the day, there are at least 75 people right now, with more than half being women and children. Completely unacceptable, the lack of professionalism and unwillingness to help was just very disappointing. If you plan to take the Greyhound and Sacramento is one of your stops, I recommend brining your own toilet paper. Aside from that, it's spacious with several tables and benches to sit and wait. Vending machines are available with snacks and water. There is a "restaurant" however, it's closed and doesn't look like it offers much. If you are here for a while at least there is a McDonald's 2 blocks away. read more

Unhelpful, rude and disinterested staff behind the counter. The staff spent more time chit chatting with each other than acknowledging clients. I observed other riders being dismissed and told "Go wait in the lobby" even though the sign said to check with agent for gate number. Surely better training or selection of employees is possible. Very sad that the management and employees of this important transportation mode is so dismissive of the people who are paying their salary by purchasing tickets. read more

Due to Greyhound delay. My son was left in Albuquerque New Mexico because the connecting bus did not wait. He was offered a ticket and was supposed to wait 24 hours. We had to pay another company to bring him home. Greyhound does not want to do a refund even though it was a delay on their part. Terrible customer service. The people working the later shift of a particular day into the later evening are trash people. As in, they are trash in quality and trash in the value of their lives. They are likely birth mistakes made by their parents and mistakes by nature for how it is that they make choices in life. Trash people should be put where they belong and that is the trash. I know there is a bathroom in there because I have had the unfortunate experience of using the homeless encampment drug pin for a bus station as transit before. They lied to me about that and were so aggressive about checking my ticket. In the past at other nice stations and even here before, they just allowed me inside and would check when we departed. Funnily enough, I was the inly ticket they checked while I was there. Seems they have suspicions about neurodivergent, mixed race, working class, non-drug using, single, young, and progressive young men. Even more so than literal drug abusers with nothing just walking up in the place like they own it and white conformist looking people having no checks at all. Also a guy talking down to me like I forget everything after 10 seconds, don't have basic thinking skills, and believe that I am a child when I am a grown man. I hope that guard and that guy moping that floor get fired. That alone would improve that place so much. I also hope both are forced to live harsher lives with no work available at all as someone that knows what that type of life is like. Maybe they learn to be grateful to have anything for work at all. Maybe they learn to respect others. Maybe they learn to not judge a book by it's cover. Also, close the door when you have people smoking outside near the entrance and enforce the smoking area! Would also be very nice if they had the bag ticketing which I couldn't get due to leaving on short notice, lack of time, and no resources. I will hopefully never be forced to ride Greyhound again. I would rather take more time in multiple changes to rides on Amtrak than do one single vehicle of Greyhound. Also, the bus driver was very aggressive, didn't let me speak on my seating which my online ticked got updated and showed that my seating was different from what they were saying (they even said the seating of the online ticket earlier themselves before they apparently forgot), and gave me difficulty for having my things on an adjacent seat even though I would have lifted it up if someone was going for that seat. Also, double standards as others had things on those seats too and he did nothing. He thinks that because he has dark skin that discriminating against me is perfectly ok. May he get the same fate I wish for those two workers in that Greyhound Bus line building. The stickers to the seatings were also trashy, disorganized, and others sat in other seats anyways. Bus driver was acting like a drunk. She was an hour and half late. After she was late she kept rushing everyone else to make up for her loss. We didn't get to stretch our legs very long only 5 mins. Reno to s.f. bus number 86916. She is terrible at time management. She kept making calls as she was driving and talking. She kept acting like she didn't know the route either. People were telling her that she was going the long way everywhere. I think she's new. She left someone at the Sacramento Station. This lady made my Birthday weekend very frustrating. Barbi of course puts the "toe" in Sacramento, and I, of course, put the "Sack" in Sacramento. The Sacramento Greyhound station is one that I've been to on many occasions, and actually more occasions than I wish to recall. A whole lot of the time I've reached San Francisco (or gone back to the East Coast) through here, and it's at 420 Richards (which is appropriate for California, 420 and all), and close to that annoying red bridge where we always have to wait forever to get in and out of downtown on the highway, and that's honestly part of what makes Sacramento Sacramento. For such a large city with a lot of suburbs, as you can imagine, the old and original terminal is okay - it's pretty big and it's curved and right on the corner and it's a little off white, but definitely very Greyhound. The new Greyhound terminal on the other hand - which is a little bit further away - looks very modern and has a soaring airport type roof and couldn't look more different and the old one that's for sure. Last time I visited I noticed it hasn't been finished or opened yet, not sure if that changed yet. It's supposed to be downtown but honestly it's in the Southern Pacific neighbourhood, which I guess is the railway neighbourhood, facing the police station and the water treatment plant, and a good half mile to a mile away from all the good stuff in the downtown. But at least it's close to the highway, and getting on Interstate 5 is very easy from here. read more

Well maybe I am the minority, but I had an AMAZING experience riding with Greyhound. After driving from Sac to Reno and almost having a panic attack; I decided to hop on a 3.5 hour $20 ride. And boy am I happy I did. With only 3 short (less than 5 min each) stops, and the bus driver letting us know we would be leaving a few minute later as a couple riders had not yet arrived (who does that :) the ride started great in my opinion. The only thing I didn't like was I saw at least one person without their mask on and at no point did the driver reiterate that masks needed to be worn. That was a bit annoys but I just kept mine on and stayed away. Overall for the price, smooth ride and convenience of getting to Reno I would not only do it again with no questions but also recommend this mode of travel to others. read more

Just the Worst!!! This was on 12/31/2023. This was my first-time riding gray hound to Reno. I will never do it again! The experience I had was awful! We will start by not being able to get into the building. They lock the door to keep out all the homeless.....When you pull up, all you see is homeless people everywhere! Like scary homeless people! Why is that OK to let homeless Rome around your business like that? You would think that gray hound wouldn't want that to be happening, but gray hound could care less about their passenger's time or safety. We got into the building when another passenger opened the door for us. We looked for someone who works there but didn't see anyone. My bus was to leave at 9:35am. At 9:45 my sister got up to see what was going on. She went outside to see if the bus was there yet and it wasn't. When the people who are on the same bus seen my sister go outside, they all followed her, at that time someone who works their finally show their face and was so rude that she needs to be fired! She yelled at everyone "WHY ARE YOU ALL OUT HERE, DO YOU SEE A BUS IN FRONT OF YOU, THEN GO BACK INSIDE AND SIT DOWN" all with the eye rolling and hand movements. Why would gray hound have someone like that represent their company? It is now 9:55 and the driver of the bus walks in and yells out "GOOD MORNING PEOPLE. I AM HERE. IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN ON MY BUS LINE UP HERE, IF YOU HAVE BEEN ON MY BUS LINE UP HERE." When the driver finally has everyone on the bus, mind you that it is now 10am, he goes on to give the bus a 25-minute speech about how this is his home,that he is the boss and named every kind of boss there was, and we all need to respect his home and blah blah blah. Yet he didn't respect the time of his passengers when he was now 30 minutes late to depart! The driver went on and on about no smoking anything on his bus and he took the time to name every brand cig or vape that was ever made like we needed to hear all that when all of us just wanted to leave the station already. It is now 10:10 and we finally leave the station. The driver did NOT drive safe at all, the speed he was using was crazy, HAD we left on time there would be no need to speed! We get to Colfax, and he yells at the passengers "OK PEOPLE, 20 MINUTE BREAK. IF YOU ARE NOT ON THE BUS IN 20 MINUTES, I WILL LEAVE YOU" everyone gets back on the in that 20 minute, but the driver is nowhere to be found. I guess he decided to take his lunch or something because the driver didn't come to the bus for 45 minutes as we are already way behind on time, he had us just sitting there!! When the driver was back on the bus, this lady got on, but it was the wrong bus for her. The driver then starts to yell at everyone" THIS LADY JUST MISSED HER BUS! YOU SHOULD ALWAYS TALK TO THE DRIVER IF YOU DINT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO YOU" That speech took another 15 minutes. We didn't not need to hear any of that, it just took time away to get to the destination at hand, The driver was speeding the rest of the way to Reno, a scary ride considering we were on the cliffside of the road! We were a total hour and 20 minutes late to the destination. The people who were there to pick me up waited for me for an extra hour and 20 minutes and why...because of the driver, he can make up his own schedule. With all these really bad reviews.....I'm just puzzled as to why gray hound wouldn't do something to improve their business. I guess the owner of this gray hound must be rich and can afford NOT to care about the people who use this service. This location is so unsafe! There is no one there to help you if you have questions. And when you do try to ask for assistance on bus times everyone is very rude! The ladies that work there are rolling eyes , no emotion when speaking and they are unbothered by there surroundings. There's customers who are using and there isn't any security there! I saw one guy who was shorter than me and I'm 5''1 as Security?!!! There needs to be more security and someone there who can provide assistance. At least the fake like you like yours job . Pleasantly surprised I must say. I took the greyhound from Sacramento to Reno and back, both times my bus was on time and prompt. The bus was honestly better looking than I expected the seats were leather and reclined a little there was an overhead bin for storage and outlets infront of every seat. The price point was under Just under 20 dollars which was not the cheapest but the cheapest isn't always the best.ll in all everything was good my driver on they way back Was a little hood but no harm no foul. read more

I purchased a ticket through their parent company, Flix bus. I received a email from greyhound after purchasing my ticket, but nothing else. I was able to print out copies of my ticket through the flixapp. When I arrived at the airport, I then got on the train and arrived at a train station where I was supposed to meet the bus in a parking lot. But it never came at 11:40 PM. I am the Colleen because according to my app it was still scheduled and it hadn't been canceled. I had no emails indicating any issues. At 11:45 PM I found out he had been canceled. The problem is that I got no notice of this cancellation, it's 11:45 PM so it's hard to get a hotel room with any kind of app. I'm in a parking lot in a bad part of town. Thank God the police showed up because some people were yelling at me . And I have this big bag of luggage from my airline trip. So I end up having to take a Lyft to my destinations I did call flix the night of the event. And I also sent a message to Greyhound and a message to flix bus. But they have simply ignore me from what I can tell. I have received no response back. So for the first time in my entire life, I'm actually going to have to file a complaint with the California consumer affairs branch and let them handle it. The problem is, you're basically putting yourself into these parking lots to meet these buses and there's not a lot of safety in these places. If you have luggage if you have a family, it can be kind of dangerous if the bus doesn't show up and you don't know what you're not gonna show up. If you just have a little bit of notice, you can plan things out and make arrangements. I was never notified by Flix bus or by greyhound that there was a cancellation. But the next day, when I woke up, my app had changed on flixapp, and I was able to see that it was canceled and given the option of asking for a refund. The thing is, I had really good opinions of Flix bus up into this point. But I can't deal with something that's hidden mess and a company that won't even give me notice of a cancellation in real time. And by the way, the law requires that they notify me promptly, and there is no effort to do so until after the fact . Even if I had as little as an hour notice, I would've been happy with that . I never knew why it was canceled. And I'm just really disappointed that I lost a company to do business with that I really enjoyed because I can't trust them with my safety and my life. I would never recommend this bus line to my worst enemy. If it was in a bus station that I don't think it would be a concern. But because you're in a parking lot or on the side of our street, waiting for a bus to show up, it's extremely dangerous. And there is literally no empathy or compassion the night I called and no response to my messages the next day that I left. BEWARE!!!! DO NOT BUY GREYHOUND TICKETS!!!! What a nightmare!!!!!!!!!!! I had a 2 AM ticket from this station at Sacramento downtown and tried to find out if the waiting area is open for passengers, which is not!!! So I tried to be there half an hour earlier (they suggest to be 15 minutes earlier than any departure time). Sacramento nights are freezing in January so I couldn't plan to stay outside more than half an hour. At that time (1:30 AM) I saw another girl wandering around station trying to find a way to get in the station. There are some tents that some homeless people are staying outside on the street, so the area is scary for a girl to be there after midnight. Anyways, we waited outside, and 2 o'clock passed and there was no bus or no person whatsoever. I tried calling the customer service, which had no clue what is going on, keep saying the bus was on time and departed. We checked the bus tracker and it turns out the bus departed about 40 to 50 minutes earlier than schedule!!!! WTF!!!!! How we were supposed to know that?????? Greyhound is a nightmare!!! If I have read some reviews before purchasing the ticket I would definitely switch to Amtrak, although it has no direct line to my destination and it takes for ever to get there, but at least it is a reliable and responsible mean of transportation. read more

On 12/31/23, at 10:35 pm, I was viciously attacked by a Greyhound employee in North Sacramento. While boarding the Greyhound bus, I set my electric scooter in the outside storage bay. I said to the driver that I have the ticket. The driver grabbed and tossed and damaged my electric scooter as he flung it out of the storage bay, and then my backpack which also had damaged items. This rendered the scooter inoperable and is $750 of nothing. I paid $200 for this ticket. I said, "You shouldn't treat your customers like this." And the driver said, you're not riding "MY" bus who had now ganged up with the security guard. They acted like gang members. Then I said, I paid for a ticket for the service, and that by Law they need to supply to me the service. That's the Law. I was a good 7 feet from these guys. Then, the security guard steps forward at me and pushed me hard. I said that they were acting like a black gang. Then these now gangsters began to laugh at hurting me and destroying my property. They broke some tools. I exercised my freedom of speech and told the two men what they were acting like, because they were not acting like Greyhound employees or employees for anyone. Then the Greyhound security employee ran 15 feet at me and slammed me against the bus as hard as he could. Several times he kept trying to push the front of my face into the side of the bus. My face was what he kept trying to destroy. Remember, I'm a paid customer. He didn't accomplish much. He got me down to the ground. Then, twice he tried to kick me in the face multiple times, advancing on me, like a killer, like a "Marine" he kept saying. We need the surveillance tape from the boarding area at the Sacramento Greyhound station. I was just holding my ticket and I had my ID out. Others also loaded their bags without their tickets scanned to help them, which is why I did; plus, I live with the assumptions of a upper middle-class caucasion; in that, I knew I was covered by the Law for the ticket I purchased. These attackers CHOSE to physically assault me. I have freedom of speech, and I never deserved to be hurt by security officers. 7 days later, and my peck still hurts; I think it's probably torn the muscle. I suffered a hard hit cut on my leg, and bruises all over; my wrist, my elbow, my chest, both legs, my right arm. A hand print on my left arm from him wadding up my skin. My ribs still hurt from the impact and bruises shaped by the guard's fists. Several times my attacker tried to slam my face into the bus, then into the ground, and finally with his boot to my face, after he threw me down. The guard and driver began very unnecessary aggression trying to kill me every time he went for my head. My wallet was stolen at this time, by the bus driver, I believe, as he was the only person outside the bus. I lost everything, all my things, because of the attack from greyhound employees in North Sacramento. I was forced to sleep on the streets by these people, and due to their action I spent two nights on the street in San Francisco also. We seek restitution for the attack, and a refund of the $200 ticket that the driver DID scan, and I believe this may be an intentional cover-up of what they did. I have photos. Don't think about taking your family on Greyhound unless you are coming down to no options left. The people who take Greyhound are something else--at least majority of them. Simply put, if you feel yourself to be fancy and live in the nice burbs, you won't hang. But if you are rough around the edges, and proud that you live in the hood and you think you are gangsta, then you'll do fine. Hope that gives you an idea of the vibe and environment you'll most likely be experiencing when riding Greyhound no matter what station. I happened to stop at this station and the workers are fierce--I mean I don't blame them, the have to be. They can't be pushovers because again--what I said about the type of people to ride these. At least Sac has an actual terminal with tables and chairs, bathrooms etc. Some greyhound stations have shut down and you wait in the mean streets of Oakland or SF at night. The buses aren't bad, but just the environment of who rides with you may bring the experience down. The sides and floors can be filthy. People having no manners. It's comfortable--I'll give it that, but sometimes you don't want to fall asleep if you are alone. The free wifi sucks and you have to pay for a speed that actually work. However, if you connect to their network you get a lot of free movies that help pass the time. It's passable when it's not a full load as you can have your own seat with no one next to you. Again, just know what you are getting yourself into, and if you dont have an ounce of toughness and grit, you may want to pay more for a better way to transport. read more

I suppose this is one of the newer stations and so it is naturally more modern, has upgraded food options, etc. The bathrooms - only one station had soap and there didn't seem to be much ventilation in the ladies restroom... unfortunate with the food choices provided, they have to know that there will be some foul tummy situations. Overall the staff here in Sacramento were kind, friendly, and security patrolled the area keeping an eye on things. Unfortunately the driver from this station going to Reno was incredibly rude to nearly everyone on board, so I was on edge rather than relaxed... then the bus broke down and there was a 3 hr delay... luckily I didn't have anywhere to be and a forced relax session was in order in the mountain fresh air. So it wasn't all bad, but I will pause strongly before considering this mode of travel again. read more

Greyhound is a notch above Amtrak when it comes to scheduling my trips to Chico as Greyhond bus to Chico is 7:15 pm while Amtrak's trains goes to Chico on midnights. Customer service is also superior because Greyhound has a person who's able to answer my questions while Amtrak's hotline is an automated robot and there's never a person, ever. Greyhound's website is easier to navigate than Amtrak. I still prefer Greyhound's old location in downtown rather than the Richards location. The downtown location was more convenient as it was within walking distance of my home while I have to take the RT 11 Truxel bus going to its Richards location. While I take the Greyhound less frequently nowadays I've had a positive experience with customer service and my rides have always run smoothly. read more

I'm baffled by the low reviews. I'm from Pacific Palisades and live in Manhattan. I'm not the average Greyhound customer and it met my standards and then some. Truly, I had THE best experience on a bus I've ever had. The station is immaculate. They have better-than-average food options. The bus had thick plush leather seats. Our driver, a young woman with a lot of sass and personality, was efficient. And it was under 14 bucks for the ride to SF. The bus did not smell like that GODAWFUL Greyhound from Port Authority to Ocean City, New Jersey. I thought I was gonna die on that thing. Hitching a ride would have been preferable. I can conclude only that Greyhound is better on the West Coast than on the East Coast. We were about 15 minutes late in leaving but it was smooth and easy. And cheap! read more

My wife and I took a trip from Sacramento Ca. to Santa Ana Ca. And it was two hours late the bus smelled like urine and completely dirty inside. They officially convinced me that unless you are taking your own car, dying or may w the train . That's the only way to go . Freakin buses in Mexico are better than this . This station is horrible there's garbage on the ground these always sketchy homeless people, inside there's a door broke off the hinges there's never anyone at the counter to help people and the bus drivers come late because they continuously stop to take 15 min breaks and multiple Starbucks breaks! Greyhound Bus Lines - Just a piece of garbage in the stall next to me - Buses Near Me - Sacramento, California

When I got there the doors were locked and a bunch of people waiting to get in and you have to prove you have a ticket to even get in the building. The vending machines suck the one with lunchables and sandwiches does not even work and the drink one next to it says they are out of stock of items that are sitting in that spot. Every time I come here it's like this and it sucks for people that are traveling all day and have to walk to the freeway entrance to buy food or drinks. Plus the bathrooms are always so disgusting but reek of bleach at the same time. Update: the manager with white hair and a tattoo on the back of his neck told everyone in the station if we let someone in then we can't get on our bus. I went outside to smoke and when I did a homeless person came in. So I can't get on the bus I paid for because i'm not comfortable telling people i don't know they can't enter a public building ?? the people who work here shouldn't be asking us to make sure homeless people don't come in the building when' there's a POLICE station right next door. Then when someone told the manager he shouldn't be asking us to do your job he sat there and argued like a child with him this place is a joke. read more

NEVER RIDE THE GREYHOUND The greyhound buses had a 3 hour delay for my trip to Los Ángeles and a six hour delay on my way back home. This caused me to spend a lot of hours at the Sacramento bus station waiting for the bus drivers to arrive. It seems the bus drivers have too much power and can really have us passengers waiting for a lot of unnecessary extra hours in the am. The first three hour delay was because the lady bus driver said she was sleeping so she could be ready for the trip. And the second delay I don't know the reason because we as passengers are not informed anything. You don't get a refund or any kind of recompense. If you plan on being back to your home town for work you have to expect a delay and expect to start work the day after you are scheduled to get back. If I could I would give zero stars. read more

This Sunday we thought we take the bus to San Francisco for the day . It took 1 hour in line to buy our Ricky' only 1 worker was at the window and the line was very long !! The bus was clean and passengers were quiet and clean! Not a bad experience! We were walking distance to the stadium, only $11 dollars each way plus service fee around 5 dollars . The driver just left an old woman who can barely speak English in a random city that was NOT her stop. She was trying to go to San Fernando, and kept asking the driver during every stop if she was there yet. He said that if she asked him which was her stop one more time, he was going to drop her off in the next stop. He kicked her off the bus in FRESNO, which is like 5 hours away from where she needed to be. She wasnt even being rude, she just wanted to know which city she was in whenever he stopped. I want to call racism because he probably would have treated her more humanely if she was not a minority who spoke bad english. I hope she finds her way because she didnt have an iPhone (she had an old flip phone) so she cant send her location to her family. He told her things like "Ok get off the bus and spend more money on the same ticket. Grab your stuff." Rather than just letting her know exactly when her stop is, he chose to kick her off. Then after he kicked her out, he had the nerve to get to the San Fernando stop, and tell the whole bus "Alright, everyone going to San Fernando this is your stop!" As if the whole bus didnt hear him kick out the lady trying to go to San Fernando in Fresno. Besides our shitty ass driver loudly embarrassing this poor old woman in front of the whole bus for multiple stops & kicking her out in the wrong city, the bus wifi doesnt work either. It is March 20th, I took the bus from Sac to LA at 9:30am. Hope greyhound finds out who the driver is and fires this asshole. read more
