I asked where the restroom was and she rudely told they didn't have one. I looked at my hubby and we were both shocked. I told her that it was our go to place but not any more. She didn't care. We turned around and left and we will never return. Sad.....

It was stale, chewy, and flavorless. The loaf of Italian bread they included turned into a pile of dried out crumbs the minute we touched it. It was inedible. There's something about an old-school neighborhood pizza place that makes you want to love it…read morebefore the first slice even hits the table. Frank's Pizza in Middletown has that feeling--the comfortable booths, the familiar atmosphere, and the sense that, at one time, this place must have been absolutely buzzing. I ordered a whole spinach-and-garlic pizza along with a Capri salad, water, and a ginger ale. The spinach and garlic sounded like exactly the kind of simple combination that should shine, but the pie was noticeably oily. By the time I settled into a slice, the excess oil had become the thing I noticed most, overshadowing what could have been a much better pizza. The salad was a pleasant companion to the meal, and the service was fine. Our server was fairly friendly, though nothing about the experience felt especially polished or memorable. What Frank's does have is convenience and character. Being right in Middletown makes it an easy neighborhood option, and I genuinely loved sitting in the booth and taking in the throwback feel of the place. You can almost imagine the dining room in its heyday, filled with regulars and families coming in for their favorite pie. I wanted the food to live up to that atmosphere. With a little more attention to the quality and preparation--particularly a lighter hand with the oil--the experience could be considerably better. There's still charm here; I'd just like to taste more of it in the pizza.

It makes me want to leave. I might have stayed longer and ordered more food except for that.
