I love this place. You have to walk through a market and take an elevator up to get to the space. It's very cozy and intimate. The sound is top notch. The entire staff are friendly. They even served us food and wine before the show. Hope to see another artist perform here in the future.

March is gonna be a busy month for me #youtube

"a space under conditions" That's right folks you can use these space to create some of the best YouTube content you can think of, doesn't matter if your into cooking to doing web series, this space is meant to showcase your creative talents! BUT.... there is a catch for using this spot for free. The number one main rule for this is..... your YouTube profile must have five thousand subscribers... that is right people 5` subs actively watching your content weekly. the YouTube people will check if you have a following and if you down you will be turned away pretty quickly. so if you do not have the subscribers make sure the people you go with at least something that have some press authority in the city or something because that is the only alternative way your getting in the building period. "Lots of events" Besides those Youtubers that use the space daily, they also host alot of special events, if you can catch wind of them, its worth going to. during these events (which are free too) you will get to mix and mingle with some of the youtubers alike and as well get to try some food for your troubles. "overall" if you like Youtube, want to make content and series about making something out of it, this is the platform to take it to the next level. this is a source for networking and exposing yourself (no pun intended) to the masses!

Michiko Rehearsal Studios - Stage 2

    Michiko Rehearsal Studios

I arranged rental time at Michiko in late December 2024, for a studio upright piano that turned out…read morewas not in good condition. I believe this was a Kawai. Despite claims the staff made about technicians routinely servicing their pianos, this instrument was not in tune and had not been reguated so the action had what piano technicians call "lost motion," which means there is space between the end of keys and the moving parts of the action. This creates a sloppy feeling in the keys, and thus a sub-standard playing experience. Lost motion is easily corrected and this lasts for a long time so either the cause is poor technician skill or the Michiko does not pay enough to maintain this instrument. Sound from other nearby rehearsal studios was a distraction.

The collective had arranged for one of the larger rooms so they could have some audience members, the full company and be able to stream it online as it happened. Spatially speaking they had a reasonable stage that held everyone involved. A full four piece band, some singers and some traditional Japanese instrument players and a grand piano. To the other side of the room was the soundboard and a setup of chairs. They had about 20 or so chairs to sit in and the audience would be a mix of invited friends, the media and the other members of the collective. Overall a nice group. The sound in this room was wonderful and you heard everything nice and clear and it was quite enjoyable. The space itself was clean and had a number of bathrooms and a WiFi signal to login to. I asked the friendly staffer what else the venue had and they said there were numerous smaller rooms like phone booths almost that people use to practice singing only or their voiceover and podcast work. Good idea. While I don't know if I will ever be there again I enjoyed my time here and thing the talented people who are reading this Yelp should look into the place in case it serves their needs.

Riverside Music Studios - Violin lessons for children and adults of all levels

We can't praise RMS enough. Both of our children (ages 10 and 6) take piano lessons with Peter…read moreFancovic through this well-run studio. They studied with two other teachers before Peter, one of whom was extremely laid back and never corrected technique. The other had taught for decades and was a little jaded, intent only on training a small army of concert pianists whom he expected to compete on the concert circuit. Peter strikes the perfect between those two extremes. Although he is very serious as an instructor (no back-slapping, no joke-telling), our children love him and are very responsive to his patient, precise teaching style. He assigns challenging (but not dishearteningly challenging) music that actually sounds good. As a result, our kids actually want to practice and learn new songs -- not because they want his praise or ours, and not because we crack a whip over their heads -- but because they genuinely enjoy making beautiful music. Peter is quite well decorated as a concert pianist (https://riversidemusicstudios.com/music-teacher-nyc/peter-fancovic/) and is probably ridiculously overqualified for the job in that respect. Sometimes that's inversely related to a teacher's patience for children. Not so in this case. We couldn't be happier with either Peter or RMS.

I am an adult piano student and have been taking lessons at Riverside Music Studios for 3 years…read morenow. It has been a very positive experience for me, and I can highly recommend RMS for any adult student. The studios seem to be very well run, in all this time there was not a single scheduling issue nor billing problem, in fact they are always very accommodating in terms of rescheduling lessons. The studio space itself is very pleasant, nicely decorated, and the pianos are all in good working order (they have baby grand pianos in every room). But most importantly, I think it is a privilege to be able to work with such wonderful teachers -- over the years I studied with Sergey Deytch and now with Dmitri, and I also had a few substitute lessons with other instructors, and they are all extremely good at what they do -- not just accomplished musicians but also excellent teachers. This obviously does not just happen, clearly the way they select and train their teachers plays a major role here and I do appreciate that. I will continue taking lessons there until I run out of money...
