Hello, with my band, I usually find us hopping from space to space because availability or equipment not being spec'd. I actually can enjoy a room to practice new content and it's been clean and organized. The staff is attentive and not stand offish like other studios... (funkadelic) Anyways, I recommend this place. The only downside is the commute from Manhattan. Its closest to the F train (York St) station and it's in the storage facility just so ya know! This is great! read more

I have been renting from this place for over 10 years. Best rates and more importantly best staff. Eunice and Leo are very easy to work with. Any issues are addressed immediately. more importantly I know that my equipment is safe and in good hands when I am not around. I am a real tenant (unit 4200). The place is very cool and the staff are like family. I'd recommend this place not to anyone but to all "good". A++ in my book. read more

Heard so many noise from every rooms. They should do more sound proof in each doors and walls. There's vending machine downstairs but it's broken. Don't use it. You gonna waste your money. I gave 1 star cuz their hourly rate is quite cheap. read more

Gets the job done for an hourly studio after you spend around half an hour scavenging through the mess of the equipment trying to find cables and mics that work. What ya end up with is a hodge podged mess like your old garage band days. But ya get what you pay for. Ya figure it out and make do with what they have. Very similar to the LIC location, but more sketch, and ya gotta sign in with the security guard like you're back in college. We have a room on the newly-renovated fourth floor, but the whole space is remarkably clean and well-kept. Most rehearsal spaces I've seen end up looking like the bathroom at Mercury Lounge. Even the bathrooms here are pretty decent. We had a few concerns about sound isolation for our recording/streaming setup -- this is, after all, a rehearsal space more than a recording space -- but Eric has assured us that whatever solution we need to come up with will be taken care of. 24/7 access, security, cameras on every floor, full climate control, and a room all to ourselves. it was a last ditch effort to find a place to jam, since our two Go-To's were booked (What IS GOING ON, PUMP?!?!)..... it got one star because the website allowed you to book/check avaiability online. I am not a big fan of putting my credit card down in advance on a studio, but for lack of other options, i did it anyway. The rates were cheap...15/hour....i got nervous right away....red flag... Fuck it, no other place to jam , so it is what it is... I was the first one there.... right near the Manhattan Bridge, easy to get to. Parking stinks, if youre driving. knocked on the door...saw an angry old man sitting at a chair throough the door window, pissed off that he had to get off his ass to answer the door. Mentioned about 4 times who i was, and why i was there.... takes me through a maze of storage units (yup, this place doubles- or leads- as a storage unit), with twists and turns...and I am thinking, Bread crumbs, anyone? Opens the door to our room, and seriously, my bath room is larger. The first thing i see is this beaten up kit caddy cornered with a Paiste Alpha cymbal that was chewed up and a no-name ride cymbal....one rack tom, one floor tom, one snare with skins older than me. There was another rack tom on the floor with the hardware missing- rendering it useless....floor was a mess. There were two Line 6 amps that were crap. Signal kept going out and changing tones automatically. Two microphones only. When i asked for a third, it was met with a loud , NO! I had to sign two pages of information to start playing....checking off the gear that was in there, and filling out information like my address (why?), my drivers license number...etc... really? seriously? Go fuck yourself... the PA system? oh yes, forgot to metion that lil ditty.... i thought it was missing from the room... why, you ask? because it was the size of my shoe, sitting on the floor in the corner of the room.... yup... one star. read more

The low star rating is influenced by the fact that I got another parking ticket there last night. I rent a room from Empire, along with some friends. We signed a 2-year lease and we're halfway through it. We combined two rooms together. If you're thinking of renting long-term, as we are, be aware of two things: 1) in the summer, the rooms' air conditioners vent directly into the hallway, with no exhaust. This makes the hallway roughly 130 degrees (no joke). As such, you must leave your a/c unit on 24/7 during the summer to keep the room an acceptable temperature. 2) there is, unexplainably, almost no legal parking on the blocks around the studio. Every once in a while the precinct gets a bug up their ass and blankets the area with tickets. The owner does not talk to the precinct about this. read more

THIS PLACE IS COMPLETE TRASH DO NOT RENT OUT THEIR HOURLY REHEARSAL ROOMS FOR YOUR BAND. Gross rooms with shitty, broken equipment. They should be paying people to rehearse here not the other way around. We left after an hour of the 4 hours booked. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

This is a storage unit complex, not a music studio. These units aren't meant to be inhabited by people, only meant to store stuff. The temperature and humidity inside the units is absolutely intolerable -- there is no ventilation, no central AC. Instead, they drop a giant industrial AC unit from the late 1970s into your unit, which alone takes up a ton of space, and which does not make the unit any more comfortable to be in. The spaces are a good 1-2 feet smaller than advertised. The customer service is nonexistent; they make it clear that you're burdening them. The sound bleed through from other units is terrible. I've played at nearly all the other music rehearsal spaces in Brooklyn, and this one is by far the worst. Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to over-pay for a tiny, sweltering hot, janky, run-down storage unit. They are truly deserving of the lowest possible rating. read more

This. spot. is. the. SHIT! When we moved in the rooms were spotless with brand new looking AC/heater units. The guys there were really helpful with soundproofing, even offered to build us a drum riser! Really convenient location (and price ;)). We started out going to the hourly room and it was such a great deal we decided to rent monthly. They gave us one month free and were extremely professional and straightforward. This place is a LIFE SAVER! Lost my studio in a flood and they welcomed me in with open arms. Incredible staff, clean building, easy access with multiple elevators including a huge freight elevator. I also rent a storage space downstairs which makes it easy to keep my cases and random gear out of my workspace. Building new rooms on the 4th floor. I checked out a lot of spaces after I lost my studio, ALL of them were overpriced, tiny and/or gross. This is by far the best renting experience I've ever had. Thanks EMPIRE! read more

So far I couldn't be happier. My unit in the new 4th floor buildout is immaculate with a brand new, modern AC unit. The guys at the desk are more than helpful with anything I need (including my deliveries) and as a solo artist occupying a tiny room relative to the rest, Eric hooked me up with a deal on the price. No issues with noise so far, the insulation is more than sufficient for rehearsal. Could be a bit closer to the nearby subway lines but it's not like they can do anything about that. read more

Absolutely the most brooklyn band friendly rehearsal studio I've ever been to. Been practicing there with my band over the last year and the improvements made to the spaces have been great. Love the staff no one bothers you and they put up good quality sound foam so no white noise if you want to record. Guys always recognize us and make us feel at home. Definitely a choice spot. Great place! The hourly room is awesome and the newly renovated fourth floor seems to be very active with lots of musicians walking around. The staff was helpful and attentive and helped me fix the mics in the hourly room. Would highly suggest both for price and convenience. My band and I are looking to get a monthly room. read more

I am disappointed with my recent interaction with whomever answered the phone for Empire Rehearsal Studios. While the rehearsal space sounds great, why bother encouraging people to call or contact you for special requirements if you have no intention of considering the simplest of requests. i.e. my request for a room with 4 mics for a vocal rehearsal sans band. This is my first and only interaction with Empire and I will never consider your space for a full band rehearsal or for a monthly rental because the guy I spoke to on the phone wouldn't be upfront with me and wouldn't directly answer my question which was extremely frustrating. "is it possible to have 2 extra mics in a rehearsal space if i am not bringing a band?". A "yes" or "no" would suffice instead he kept trying to convince me to rent the room without answering my question. Just be honest and say there are no special considerations or requests for hourly renters the rooms are as is. No one likes or trusts a bullshitter so that interaction has transferred into me not liking or trusting your company. read more

Beware of this place. If you seek hourly practice time, don't go after 7PM. I made a reservation between 7PM and 8PM on December 16, 2015. I arrived on time but no one was there to show me which room to use. I waited for over 40 minutes and still no help. The people inside practicing were nice and tried to help, but the guy in charge never showed up. I spent $15.00 to get this room and they didn't even have the decency to tell me that they're just gonna rob me. At least tell people that they're getting scammed BEFORE they arrive. Then I could have saved precious time practicing somewhere else. This place is really just a re-purposed Storage Center, but I wouldn't even consider storing anything here considering that it's run by thieves. Go rob a bank instead of taking money away from poor musicians Empire Rehearsal Studios! Btw, the other Empire rehearsal space located in 47-32 32nd Place Long Island City, New York 11101. is only slightly better because the entrance is a loading dock. At least you can see the entrance is what I'm trying to get at. Don't go into the main building entrance because that will lead you into the hockey rink and a labyrinth of storage spaces. read more
