My only critique this year is the pool soundtrack. It was less "Palm Springs party" and more "Existential Crisis in a Yoga Studio." When the DJ arrived, I thought, "Rad, here we go," but the vibe never actually shifted. Look, I love house music, but these tracks were so obscure and ethereal I felt like I was waiting for a spiritual awakening that never arrived. Example, we stayed during week 2 of Coachella season, thursday night, yet not a single artist from the lineup made the cut--a huge miss for the energy we were expecting! Pro tip: Bring a pool floatie! Because of the legendary deep end (which is actually the middle), the shallow areas can look like a crowded penguin colony. If you don't want to tread water for forty minutes like you're in Navy SEAL training, bring something inflatable so you can actually use the middle of the pool without the workout.

One of the reasons I keep coming back is because the hotel usually has a great atmosphere. The restaurant, happy hour, pool DJs, and weekend activities always make it enjoyable. This stay, though, the cleanliness was really disappointing, especially considering the price. The pool and spa areas were dirty most of the weekend, with foam in the water, debris around the pool, overflowing trash cans, and very little visible upkeep. We noticed it Friday night when we arrived, and it continued through Saturday. Sunday was slightly better, but still not what I'd expect from this hotel. The biggest concern was sanitation. At one point, guests were using the pool net themselves to clean debris out of the water. Other than the cleanliness issues, the stay itself was okay, and I understand staffing challenges happen. But overall, this was one of the most disappointing stays I've had here, and it definitely made us reconsider staying here again in the future.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE BARBARA BAR AND GIFT SHOP I did not…read morestay at the motel overnight. Huge fan of Trixie Mattel, so when I visited Palm Springs this weekend (05/08), I had to check this place out. It's EXACTLY what you'd expect and somehow even better in person. The motel itself is gorgeous, and the staff was incredibly kind and full of personality. You can tell there was a clear vision for the overall vibe and guest experience created by trixie and her team and the staff here execute it extremely well. If they were having a bad day I wouldn't know it. The gift shop is super cute. It's small, but worth stopping into just to see the All Stars crown and parts of her Barbie collection. The Barbara Bar is also way more spacious than the photos make it seem. The drinks were really good. I got the Oh Honey and the Frozen Atomic Bombshell, and I'd honestly recommend both but definitely the latter if you want just one. They were simple, clean cocktails that weren't overly strong, and the lollipop in the Atomic Bombshell was a fun touch. We went on a Friday around 1:45 PM and it wasn't crowded at all, though I'd imagine evenings and weekends you would want to make a ressy. Overall, this is just a really fun spot to visit, even if you're not a Trixie fan. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good drinks, and light bites too. I didn't try the food this time, but the pesto fries sounded really good.

As someone who lived in Palm Springs for 15 years, I've seen just about every version of this…read moretown... the classic, the kitschy, the quietly luxurious, and the occasionally questionable. So when The Trixie Motel came onto the scene, I was curious. Palm Springs has always had personality, but this place takes it, dips it in glitter, and turns the volume all the way up. Let's be clear... this is not subtle. Every inch of the property is styled, themed, and fully committed to its aesthetic. You're not just checking into a room, you're stepping into a concept. And honestly, I respect that. In a town where so many hotels start to blend together, this one makes sure you remember where you are. Walking through it feels like you've entered a very specific, very pink alternate universe where everything is intentional and nothing is accidental. It's playful, over-the-top, and surprisingly well executed. Now, coming from someone who has lived here, I can say this: Palm Springs has no shortage of beautiful resorts, but very few that are actually fun. This place leans all the way into fun, and doesn't apologize for it. Is it for everyone? No. If you're looking for quiet minimalism and understated luxury, you're going to be overwhelmed in about five minutes. But if you're willing to embrace the spectacle, it's a completely different experience. Palm Springs has always had a flair for reinvention, and The Trixie Motel fits right into that tradition... just with a lot more pink.
