    On the wagon

Bill and his team were wonderful! We felt truly cared for by the friendly folks there. Everyone worked very hard to make everyone feel welcomed! There were a couple of larger tour groups there the night we went who were well taken care of but our small group of 3 were never overlooked nor expected to just blend into the larger group. The team made sure we too felt special and looked after. Our wagon driver Zack told us a lot of interesting tidbits about the mule team and was very personable as we rode out to the palms. Our tour guide really made the tour special with our walk among the palms at dusk. He was very knowledgeable and he really kept us engaged and drawn in. The atmosphere was welcoming and just perfect with the light wood smoke from the fire pit, the great live band and the delicious BBQ meal after the tour. It was a charmingly decorated ranch space with buffalo plaid table cloths, glowing lanterns, games, some barrel tables, etc and well placed stone and landscape lighting pieces that really made you feel festive and relaxed! We listened to the great music and admired the stunning sunset and night sky and there were great photo opportunities everywhere and the views were spectacular. Well worth the trip! I recommend it to anyone looking for a unique experience in nature away from the standard resort thing. Everyone there that night was having a great time!

Absolutely the best experience! We weren't sure what we were getting into, but this turned out to be a highlight to our trip! Everything about this place was fantastic and well thought out. It starts off with a wonderful mule ride, in a covered wagon to a Palm Grove. Along the way, the host is so knowledgeable and tells you so much information about the area. Once you get to the Palm Grove, it's another learning experience where you get to walk around and explore a short but knowledgeable filled hike. You stand on the actual fault line! Then the mules take you back where you get to do a silly but fun line dance, while a wonderful musician plays the banjo and guitar of all your favorite songs while you eat an amazing dinner. Even the s'mores at the end were super fun around the campfire. This is for all ages from kids to grandparents it's really fun if you're country or city people. The staff were so accommodating. I put the address of the recommend nursery into the GPS on my iPhone and it took us straight there. I can't wait to go ba

    What a ride

So much fun. The food and music were great. So was the mule ride. It was way more than I expected it to be. Perfect activity for old and young alike.

Had a great time with the people who run the show there. From start to finish, we had a great time. They made our 20th anniversary very fun and special. We highly recommend this little hidden gem.

Experience a Cowboy Christmas A throw back to a time when genuine hospitality and human kindness were not just concepts but a way of life. Thank you to the team at Covered Wagon Tours for holding on to traditions and being memory makers for new generations.

February 2024 We had a phenomenal time celebrating Mary's birthday. Bill and his staff made us feel like we were home on the range. Great customer service, great scenery, and a phenomenal live music band. We would highly recommend this as a destination!

Cost is posted on their website. I think it was $79/adult and $69/child for the tour (not including dinner afterwards).

There was wonderful live music, and the musicians taught us a barn dance - which the kids really enjoyed.

As it is open to the public, it's also a venue for high level convenings and international diplomacy. The estate has been a retreat for US presidents and a convening place for world leaders since 1966. My first time here which I have heard quite a lot of things about this place. It's kind of hidden with only the sigh out front along the driveway. Hidden behind the walls, as you drive through the gate along the long driveway with the well maintained cactus garden landscape. You come upon the spectacular estate. The entire property is very well maintained with loads and loads of cactus and garden plants. The main building, information right when you walk in, a beautiful lobby that looks out to the most amazing garden and grassy knoll, gift shop, cafe and the museum. Besides the property which is free to check out and walk through the gardens, they also offer a guided tour of the estate which I believe is with a driven golf cart. Right when you walk in the museum is to the left side of the main building. The lobby is right in the middle which looks out to the garden. Cafe, gift shops and restrooms is to the right. Cafe does have outdoor seating but it was quite hot today. Once you walk out to the garden, the massive grassy knoll is the focal point. I'm sure loads of amazing events have been held here. The gardens are all pretty much desert plants as you are in the desert. Two beautiful water feature on both side as you walk out. Just wandering through the gardens which are path is quite relaxing. Bench are placed throughout for seating and just enjoying this property. As you drive in, both side of the driveway is part of the garden as well. There's a wildflower garden which looked pretty massive from the maps was still under construction. But the other gardens are spectacular. It's amazing how something so beautiful is just tucked away behind a wall. The mid century property is literally Palm Springs architecture at its best. This place is worth checking out as it's free. A nice wander and enjoy what Palm Springs has to offer and learn some things.

The tours were either sold out or had one spot available. There were 2 of us. I would recommend purchasing tickets online before you arrive to Palm Springs because of the popularity of the tours. You cannot purchase tickets by phone, email or in person. There are no waitlists either. We walked among the garden area, visited the small but great gift shop, watched the movie about Sunnylands and viewed the current exhibition. The next time we're in the Palm Springs area I will definitely plan ahead and purchase tickets way in advance.

The first 2 trips were put together by an employee who has since retired; she was incredible, very responsive, had everything squared away for us. This 3rd trip was put together by Guillaume Van Wyck at Great Safaris. The accommodations were excellent and we'll be returning to Kenya to several of them. The overall trip was really great, and was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as we anticipated. HOWEVER... communication from Great Safaris was not good. I had to email repeatedly to get answers to questions. Information about obtaining visas was non-existent, and when we had issues, we got a last-minute email that would have been helpful earlier. A hot-air balloon excursion in the Serengeti wasn't scheduled for us (even though we paid for it), so we didn't get to take it; Great Safaris did refund our money, but we wish we could have taken the excursion. Serious mistake on their part. Questions about scheduling went unanswered; we didn't get itinerary times until we were in Africa, and only by asking the people at the lodges. Great Safaris should have provided all of that to us. All in all, we would recommend a safari trip for anyone loving animals and a truly amazing experience. BUT WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GREAT SAFARIS.
