Now I needed a painter who could repaint and recaulk everything.... without accidentally changing the color of the siding. Enter VIP painting. They came in and pressure washed the house, and hand scraped and prepped everything. They were so detailed oriented that not only did they make sure I knew exactly what material they used (all very high quality) but checked in on color and gloss. In fact, they also repainted the doors, metal handrails on the front door and the restained and resealed the doorstep. The house looks great and is ready to weather the elements for several more years. I can't recommend VIP Painting enough and am already telling my co-workers to hire them.

But, lets be fair and present a balanced review; Let me start with the positives - Called Barreto on a Wednesday, he picked up and arranged to meet me that night, at 530pm. He arrived at my house at 5pm, early, a good start! - Barreto started the work in good faith with no payment upfront. - The bid that Barreto came in with was at the upper level of competing bids. We needed a new ceiling hung and plaster applied over the sheetrock. Although he was coming in on the high end, he could start that saturday, so we agreed on the price, shook hands and ill see you saturday @ 8am - The two guys that arrived at 8am were pleasant enough. They laid down their protective equipment (they used my plastic and painters tape though!) for the floor and off they went cutting and installing the ceiling. After a quick break, they started plastering the ceiling. They started at 8am and they were done by 130pm, it looked good. excellent! That's were the positives ended. Lets get to the negatives and the real reason you should look elsewhere, anywhere, for a painting contractor. After the ceiling was installed, I spoke to Barreto about painting the ceiling, the walls, prepping and painting all the trim work. He gave me a price, it was good, the lowest bid that we have received. I gladly accepted his offer and he said when the plaster is dry his guys could come back and finish the job. This was October 8th. what happened between 8th October and 3rd November was 20+ text messages, phone calls, emails to Barreto, the majority which were ignored. All i was asking was "when can you come back to finish" and i would receive a response "i'm busy, sorry" "we are busy, we will get back to you" "we are busy until January, you can get another company to finish it if you like". JANUARY!!! WTH????? no one is that busy. After much thought it became obvious that he had underbid on the cost estimate for the painting and didnt want to commit to it. The painting, with all the sanding and prep work, was a two day job, easily. He was willing to offer one day of work for the quote he had bid. This wasnt going to work, he didnt want to do the work because he had underbid on two guys working 16 hours on a job and wouldnt make any money, and i wasnt willing to let him rush the job, compressing two days of work into one day. It would have looked terrible, rushed and unprofessional. Overall, i think Barreto and blessed painting are kinda shady. At one point he asked me to "leave your door open, you dont need to be there when we are painting" who in their right mind would leave 2-3 virtual strangers in their home for 8 hours? no one, i dont care who you are and how trusting you are. So here we are the job half finished, the ceiling has imperfections that i will now have to pay someone else to deal with and will have to contract another company to actually come and finish the paint job. I simply wouldnt hire Barreto or recommend him to anyone. There are literally dozens of painting contractors in the Boston area, i went to Blessed painting and Barreto because of the 4 star reviews on YELP. However, if you look closely, you'll see that no one has reviewed his company in over a year and i can only assume people are having the same bad experiences with him. Look elsewhere, trust me.

He arrived 15 minutes early after confirming the appointment time 1 hour beforehand. He was professional, took the time to drive to Worcester, and provided a free estimate. Even though he was not hired, which is reflected in the raiting and the following explained experience, Nick's Pro Painting does deserve positive acknowledgement for this paragraph. This is a specialty job requiring detailed workmanship to strip and match stain as close as possible that two different contractors destroyed (after being asked NOT to paint/stain). One room has four different color stains, paint smeared on woodwork, doors that don't match their door frames, and a new expensive barn door with dried stain running down it. My initial request included pictures and explained that this job was mainly to sand, strip stain, and match woodwork as close as possible. All respondents were aware upfront. This task is able to be accomplished because a professional painter had already performed some of the work before becoming unavailable. It was disappointing to hear Niemar, a professional painter, recommend to just paint everything white. This, after one painter already completed some of the work, a second painter the previous week said he could do it, and a contractor yesterday said he could do it. I, myself, could just slap white paint on the woodwork if that's what I wanted, losing the higher quality wood in the process. 1"x 4ft pieces are painted white, not oak baseboards and carved moulding. This is a two-story house, so while the second floor would have beautiful matched stain, MOST (not all) of the first floor rooms would have white, painted trim. While that is the standard nowadays, this city house on a dead-end street has trees and nature on two sides, plus deer/wild turkeys/bunnies that pass by. The interior woodwork is a reflection of the ever disappearing nature outside. The desired end result is for beauty and consistency. This was my deceased mother's house, to be listed for sale in spring 2025. With a 5 rating I think I had higher expectations than a lazy suggestion. Additionally, the brief, interim owner after my mother died, is a Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker-Worcester Branch, who flips houses (I'd run from her and them!) She had the nice vinyl siding painted, which is now peeling and cracking after only 16 months! Niemar said he couldn't touch it up without having the exact brand and color paint used. This was surprising to hear since ROOFERS were able to replace some cracked siding (my mother kept extra of the original, unpainted siding) and they painted it to match by bringing a scraped piece of paint to Home Depot and having exterior paint tinted to the sample. The type of paint was recommended by the initial, professional painter, who painted the entire interior and was capable of correcting the mis-matched stain nightmare unnecessarily created by incompetent contractors who refuse to listen. My impression is that, because the project is a tedious, detailed labor of love honoring my mother's memory and for the next family, Niemar just didn't want to do it. Which is fine of course, but it might be better in future to say something to the effect of, "While I'd like to help, this project is going to be a little too time-consuming to fit in with other jobs we currently have," rather than what he actually said, which was, "It will have to be sanded. There will be dust. I can't do it." It would have been better if, after seeing the request/pictures and knowing what was being asked before contacting me, that the response was, "Unfortunately, Nick's Pro is unavailable." Coming to see the house when unable to perform the job was just a waste of time for both of us.
