They wanted all but about 10 of the books & offered me $18 for the ones they wanted to keep.... Had I left them 'all' of my books, I was told they would have gone on their shelves or to other stores. Crazy to donate products for them to sell. Makes more sense just to donate them & let a non profit sell them...or donate to Friends of the Library... I waited well over an hour to hear the $18 offer LOL.... CRAZY ME!! But it's a very nice place to shop!

It opened originally across the street in 1955 by conscientious objector Roy Kepler. He had ties to and thought along the same lines as Lawrence Ferlinghetti, the founder of City Lights Books in San Francisco. I called recently because I really wanted to get my hands on a copy of Nikita Gill's new book "Hekate" and yes, I know I could just order it online from big box stores but I knew I wanted to support my local bookstore. Renee was quick and prompt and while she didn't have it in stock, she ordered it as quick as she could and I was able to go pick it up in the next day or so! The selection targeted elementary and middle school age but I also found a good amount for my preschooler. If I was only buying for age 1-4 I don't think I'd fill up a box (mainly because they were almost all paperback and thin) but anything older and you will find plenty. All the workers were nice and friendly. It made me want to work there too lol. Note: I came during their warehouse book sale which lasted 3 days. This is not open every day! The people who work here are so knowledgeable about books and scan always recommend the perfect novel or nonfiction based on a description of your preferences. It reminds me of the days when there were neighborhood video rental shops before Blockbuster and Netflix. There's a center display right inside the front door with staff selections and new books. What they don't have in volume, they make up with a curated selection, and nice little tags with book descriptions. Bob was an older gentleman who worked here until he recently passed. He also sometimes worked in the Livermore store. Like many men, I got a lot of books here based on his recommendations for history. After chatting with me just a couple times, he recognized me when I came in the store, and steered me towards something I could not resist. I'll miss him very much.
