I am a long time client of Your Man Friday and have always had great service from them. I started with them because they were a small business with ties to the local community with personal care and good communication. I was sad When Greg retired and sold the business but also excited for him. I had hoped that the new owners would respect the legacy that he built with the clients and community but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case. My husband was a client at YMF since 2015. I usually prepped all our files for YMF to complete his taxes, but unfortunately he got cancer and I became his caretaker in 2023. He died in 2024. I did not complete his 2022 taxes, and I reached out to YMF to complete his 2022s and 2023s. After not receiving a response to my email or call for 2 weeks, I followed up with them via phone. I was told that they could not do it before the 10/15 extension deadline, which was fine. But then I was told they wouldn't do his taxes at all. Yes, they knew he died. I can understand not taking on new customers, but he had been a customer for many years. I am stunned by the poor customer service. YMF used to be great - I referred many people there over the years. Had been a customer for over 10 years w good results. This year they had horrible communication and got my taxes to me on the morning of 4/15, desp having my docs since 3/15. They weakly claimed to have become short staffed, which seems like a them problem. But I needed to speak to a human for my 2019 filing, and walked in to YMF for a quick consultation. Greg was extremely friendly and helpful, and wasn't "salesy" at all. After giving Your Man Friday every "benefit of doubt" we have finally fired them. We were with them for way too long, always thinking as Benni S. writes, that it was "probably not the whole office." Well, it is the whole office. Over the years we have tried multiple staff bookkeepers at Your Man Friday. There were always costly mistakes. They never took responsibility. Each time we would talk with Greg (owner), but he just blew smoke and never took responsibility for the lapses. Many times staff failed to submit our IRS payments on time (penalties). Again each time Greg would try to make us think it was either our fault or just an "understandable" mistake on their part. Now it is clear that incompetence runs from the top down at Your Man Friday. Don't trust your finances to them. The last straw came after we decided to just handle the IRS payment ourselves to avoid any more mistakes. Your Man Friday even managed to create a disaster out of that. Without any access to our current QuickBooks files or phone call to us, YMF made up an amount (twice our correct payment) and submitted that to IRS for payment. And to add insult to injury, it was still submitted two days late. We came home from Vacation to a drained account and bouncing checks. Greg at YMF blew some smoke and told us to contact the IRS and wait seven weeks to get our money back. With no help from Your Man Friday, it took days on the phone and filing a hardship case with the IRS to get the money returned 10 days later. We both feel stupid for staying with Your Man Friday for so long and enduring so many screw-ups. We are angry to point of considering legal action for our losses. Our new bookkeeper has already found many more mistakes by Your Man Friday and she has just started to review our books. Be very careful, the only thing Your Man Friday is good at is creating a facade of a good company. read more

I think a marker of a business is how they treat you even when you're probably not bringing business. I've interacted with Your Man Friday twice in that role, and they've treated me better than many companies treat their paying customers. Cases in point: #1: Years ago I was a grad student helping with a WA state agency's website related to their work. We had virtually nothing to pay, but these guys still helped out anyway. They were really fun and thoughtful as people and gave really sharp feedback, too. I made a mental note to patronize them after grad school. #2: Because of changes in the AMT law, I finally had a really hard tax situation I needed a pro to resolve. So I remembered my memories of the grad school visit and e-mailed these guys. Heard back within an hour -- on a Saturday. Their tax specialist ultimately felt they weren't an expert in my situation, so the owner e-mailed 5 CPAs in town to find someone who'd do an expert job. And they found two who could handle it for me. P.S. I have never done business with Your Man Friday, nor do I have any personal connection to anyone working there. read more

I'd been through three accountants (and a boatload of hassle and suspect advice) in Seattle by the time I found these guys thanks to a friend referral. I now use them for my own business, my husband's business, my dad's business, and all of our personal tax stuff and I could not be happier. One of my goals for 2017 was to get financially educated and stable, and in order to do that you have to repair the old in order to be successful! WELL ! I thought a long time about writing this, and I really honestly think it is important that I share my experience with this company. It is probably not the whole office that has a problem. I think that I had a representative that had issues with organization, consistency, timeliness, and good effective communication. I hired these guys to help me with payroll and bookkeeping, and honestly we never got to bookkeeping because my experience with payroll was definitely not what I was looking for. The first thing I need to say is that I have used two different payroll services in the past, Wells Fargo and ADP. Your Man Friday charged me almost four times as much for the payroll portion alone. I think they probably don't provide this service a lot. I got charged 1.5 hours for emails and phone calls in the first month in addition to 3.5 hours just to set up 5 employees for payroll. That's data entry for 5 people and that part took 3.5 hours. I just had to do this for myself when I set up my own Intuit account. I assure you it did not take 3.5 hours. And how in the world am I supposed to communicate information for my payroll if not by email or phone? The bill did not have any breakdown or a timesheet - I had to ask them what in the world they were charging me so much for and was pretty stunned. Really?!? It was like I was getting billed by a lawyer for thinking about my payroll while at Pho Cyclo.... They sent my payroll taxes to the wrong FEIN number and my accountant and I had to spend an hour on the phone fixing it. I told them three times in documented emails it was the wrong account and they insisted that it was I who was mistaken. I even submitted letters to Greg and the payroll person from the IRS stating the facts and they marched ahead and did it differently insisting they could not change it. I changed it and diverted the taxes to the right account in a day. That cost me money. That cost me time. I would always get a different format for the payroll emails and they were really hard to follow. There were errors made in sending me proper log in names for my accounts multiple times. and errors made in backups that they charged me to fix. They have never admitted any wrong doing or made any attempt to remedy the situation. I only worked with them for two months and paid over $700 just to do payroll for 5 people for 2 months. No bookkeeping. No reconciliation was ever done. That was just for payroll. You know, I think the worst part for me, the part that hurts the worst is that I think that they just kind of stuck it to me because they didn't like me. I own a business. You know, there are some folks that I like more than others. But they would never ever know that by our level of service. I too rely on customers and you can see direct evidence of how I treat customers on Yelp. When we make a mistake we take ownership of it and make it right immediately at our expense. And they did not ever make the effort. In fact, when I wrote them a letter to tell them about the IRS confirming my FEIN number and asking them to help me fix it, they let me go. It was hard and has caused a lot more work for me in my business. It killed me to pay my last bill to them and I did it, because fighting with them and nitpicking with them would just cost me more time that I do not have. But I think it is important to be heard when there has been an experience of this magnitude. I also want to say that the friend that referred me uses Ray and lots of people seem to love that guy and I am positive it is well-founded. That was not who I worked with. read more

These guys saved my sanity! Trustworthy bookkeepers and accountants are notoriously hard to find and I'm so glad I finally found these guys after many bad tries elsewhere. I also spend much less money with them due to their efficiency. They can due more in an hour than I can do on my own in 8 hours which leaves me time to do what I AM good at. read more
