While the individual employee responsible no longer works at the firm, Huddleston as a business refused to take ANY responsibility for their negligence. When I tried to request a fair settlement from Huddleston--such as receiving a partial refund for the amount I paid for their tax services given that they failed to fulfill their duties--they stopped responding to my messages. When you trust a business with something as important as your financials, you deserve better, and as a fellow small business owner, I am incredibly disappointed in Huddleston CPAs.

Despite being an H&R customer for more than a decade, I was treated like a giant pain when I asked for the specific tax preparer who'd done my taxes the year before. But now I am grateful to that rude old goat because I contacted Waterfront to do them instead. I was able to get an almost immediate appointment with a professional who was friendly and helpful. The taxes were done in less than an hour, by a CPA (rather than simply a "tax preparer.") He accessed every legal deduction and gave me solid advice for next year. I can't believe I've been going to H and R Block for years, getting just adequate service, sometimes grudgingly. James Fritz, in the Silverdale office quickly did my taxes, saved me money, and then charged HALF of what H&R Block has been charging me! My taxes were the same difficulty, the same number of schedules and forms, as every previous year. But now, they were done by a CPA for half the cost! (to my fault I should have reviewed their work but that's why I hired them so I didn't have to) well turns out they completely left off a W2 and I owed more in taxes. the IRS hit me with a roughly 1,000 dollar penalty which they "paid" by doing my taxes this year free and refunding my 2021 tax fee. but because of their error I was responsible for a 470 dollar interest fee that they would not cover. so be prepared to review all of their work. if an error happens regardless If it was their fault, you will be responsible for the interest owed because of their error in addition to the tax you owe. I told them I would not have incurred the interest because I would have paid my full tax bill had it been prepared correctly, but they said that was policy. So unless they correct this policy I would look elsewhere for a more reputable company that takes responsibility for errors of their service. Respectfully I typically do not write reviews but because their error cost me an additional cost of almost 500 dollars and the IRS headache I was not a satisfied customer.

The errors I identified were either acknowledged in writing or revised in subsequent drafts. When I met with the owner on June 8 and presented detailed emails outlining these errors, he said he would look into it but never responded. My check was cashed on June 12 despite unresolved problems, and a certified letter I sent on June 15 requesting an amicable resolution was ignored. The final bill was double my deposit, with no communication that costs would increase. Although the firm advertises decades of experience and attention to detail, the work I received did not reflect those claims. Honestly, one of the best decisions I've made regarding finances and our business overall. I can't stress too much how better off your financial situation will be if you meet with Mark. He loves numbers and tax code stuff, which means he loves his profession and is always up to date on what's going on with the incredibly confusing tax situation in the U.S. So far, he found a mistake in our last tax preparer's returns and got us back over $4000, without asking for a dime because he was looking over the returns for another reason-that showed me he's honest. His cost for preparing this years returns compared to what we paid for last years was at least 40% less, and honestly they were done less than a week after I had given him the information- sometimes the next day. Our last tax person took months, and the returns were not even prepared correctly. After 34 years of doing business with Scott and Kim, I have to say that I never thought I would be…read morewriting this review. When I started with Wilson's, dad and his wife were running things. They did payroll for up to 55 people and all my taxes for 10 years. Then I sold out of that business and bought a new, smaller company. Still, I had them do my taxes up until about 5 years ago, when I decided my returns were so simple, I would just do them myself for $100 to $150. I gave their company a lot of business over decades and during the past 5 years, when I've had a question, Scott answered it. He's always given me good advice. This year, I decided to give him my business return. I gave him my documents on February 15th, but emailed about a week later to ask when he thought my return would be done. He indicated probably the week ending Mar. 2nd. I waited and waited, but no word. I was preparing for SURGERY and started to PANIC. THEY HAD MY DOCUMENTS FOR AN UNREASONABLE WHOLE MONTH! Four days before the tax return was due, I emailed and said that if no one had started my return, I would do it myself. I got no response, until the day before the return was due. This caused a problem, because it was at the last minute, and the tax preparer told me she had no time to research an item. The return may have been e-filed with a $25,000 error, which seemed to the case according to the IRS website. This would make my personal return wrong, and I would be subject to penalties. I asked Scott if I needed an amended return and if so, would he go ahead and file it. I also asked Kim to refund a charge for a service I specifically asked them not to do, but which was CLEARLY indicated on the bill. I added that this process had been a fiasco, because I was really getting upset. I could have filed my own return on Feb. 15th. Instead, Kim replied that she had not charged me for that service and that she was refunding my entire fee. At first, I was confused about why she would do that. Then I realized it was her totally CHILDISH and UNPROFESSIONAL way of kicking me to the curb after 34 years, when a simple five minute phone call from Scott would have resolved the whole issue. Well, the good news is that I got back their exorbitant fee of $900, which I actually would have gladly paid, if I didn't realize they have an UNETHICAL WAY OF BILLING. They remove the individual prices for each form from the final bill and then tack on "administrative and other fees" without listing a line item for it, so that the client doesn't really know what they are being billed for. The last time I had an accountant file my business return, it cost $275, very clear billing. And since that accountant made a mistake, he still filed the necessary paperwork and refunded his fee as well. My take on the whole thing is that if you think you have been done wrong, and nobody is answering your questions, emails or phone messages, express it relentlessly if necessary. Bombard them with emails and phone calls. In my case, it did not take bombardment. Since they seem to be really THIN-SKINNED, make sure you tell them how bad you think the service is. They will refund your fee, so you can extrapolate that that means, "Go away; you're bothering me." Get yourself out unscathed, and go elsewhere. I'm sure dear old DAD is proud. UPDATE: I did my own research which took about 5 minutes, and just as I told the tax preparer, it was taxable. I did my own Amended Return for $100! I so appreciate getting my $900 back.
