Overall I was satisfied with my experience. We had a dead furnace the day after Christmas…read more(Saturday) and tried to find a furnace service company that could come out on short notice. Our usual technician was not going to be available until Monday, which was unacceptable. The dispatch operator called me back within two minutes of my leaving a message. Within half an hour I was advised that a technician would be in touch with me within the next couple of hours. As it happened the technician called me earlier than anticipated. The technician was a friendly gentleman, although I wish he could have kept his mask on a little more carefully when he was in our home. To be entirely fair I didn't say anything about it at the time, perhaps I should have. He took his time diagnosing what was wrong with our furnace, and was not rushed about the affair at all. In the end he determined it was a circuit board failure and called the parts store to make sure they had a replacement available. When all was said and done we were charged for the service call plus one hour of labor, which was entirely fair. However I was displeased to find out that we were apparently grossly overcharged for the replacement circuit board unit. I looked up pricing myself and found out that we had been overcharged by at least 30%. When we asked for a copy of the purchase receipt the technician told that us that none could be provided, which seemed a little deceptive to us. In the end, the furnace is back up and running and that's obviously what counts the most. However I would likely have reservations about doing business with this company again in the future.

Extremely overpriced. Consistently 3-5x the cost of other quality providers. I'd avoid.read more

I disputed it and they re-Instated claim and sent out the same tech, he was still pleasant, though afterwards no receipt was given after the second visit. We are unsure of exactly what we paid for, there was an additional amount charged outside of the home warranty coverage. I have requested the receipt several times and no response, we have also requested through the home warranty company to clarify what we paid the additional $383 for. I would say we are less than a week in so it appears the issue is fixed though no receipt and communication is only text messages after you call the phone number. I will monitor the repair and receipt and update the review as needed.

For anyone having MTP come out on a warranty call, I want to add some context after reading prior…read morereviews. MTP was the second contractor assigned for a leaking water heater. My experience with the warranty company has been extremely frustrating, but it's important not to place the warranty company's limitations and process failures on the contractor. The technician who came out was phenomenally observant, knowledgeable, and refreshingly honest. He explained what he saw clearly and professionally, without sugarcoating or upselling. I greatly appreciated that approach -- he told me what was actually going on, not what I wanted to hear. We ultimately chose a cash-out option, but that decision was driven by the complexity of coordinating separate floor repair with removal and reinstallation of the tank -- not because of anything MTP did wrong. It's also worth understanding how warranty work operates. Contractors like MTP are dispatched across large service areas, which can make scheduling challenging. As someone who also works across multiple counties, I understand that reality. Most importantly, warranty companies often do not cover reconnection or reinstallation costs the way homeowners reasonably expect. This is embedded in their contract language and results in "modifications" being classified as non-covered, even for like-for-like replacements. That is not the contractor trying to add charges -- it's how warranty companies structure coverage to limit their costs. Knowing this going in may save homeowners a lot of frustration. Based on my experience, MTP handled their part professionally and honestly, and I felt it was important to reflect that in a fair review.

Instead of using elbows like the previous set up he just used straight copper so the pipes don't sit up against the wall and they are sticking out on an angle (I hope that's no issue in the future ) 2. he did not clean up after himself- he left the soldered silver pieces all over the sink. 3. He did not secure the faucet to the utility sink underneath with the screws so it was moving back and forth, 4. He unscrewed my fire alarm because the heat from soldering made it go off and he never put it back on!! 5. The left side is leaking where the faucet screws into the copper pipe. 6. He asked a "favor" that I give him 5 stars to get business with a story of how Google took down 150 reviews and he was sick last year. Now, the reason I chose him over other people is because of his reviews of " doing quality work, picking up after himself, competitive pricing " and now I feel like I got duped because I did not experience any of that , I feel like he may be a phony. Mike was nice but when I'm paying for a service I shouldn't have to pick up after you. Granted I understand maybe he wasn't small enough/ older to get under the utility sink and screw the faucet in place but he could have told me. There is no excuse for not screwing the fire alarm back in! What if I were elderly and was unable to clean up the metal pieces everywhere, screw in my faucet or screw my fire alarm back in. Of course I did not know any of this was an issue until I went to actually use the faucet - it moved forward and backward, the metal was all over and I look up and the fire alarm unplugged. This was not worth calling him back for as I could fix it and I'm not going to have him fix the leaking pipe either as I do not trust any longer.

Let's do the timeline. Thursday, 9pm - Hot Water Heater dies. 10:30pm Searching online for quotes…read moreto see how much it would cost to have it done rather than to do it ourselves. (Pay for immediate, or pay in our own time?) Submitted project request on HomeAdvisor. Within a few minutes I got a phone call from Steve. I explained the situation, asked about options, and he gave me explanations, costs, and time frames. My husband and I discussed, and we called back 30 minutes later (Steve said it was okay to call him!). 11pm We have an appointment scheduled for him to install the new heater around 1pm Friday. Friday, 11am Steve texts me to let me know he's running late. I appreciate that. It's not two minutes before he shows up and then he's letting me know. 2:15pm and he's here, dealing with our tiny utility basement, getting the new heater down, replacing, and making sure everything is correct. 3:45pm he was done and gone. In less that 24 hours we had a brand new hot water heater installed, the old, broken heater was gone (all part of the service), and all was well. Service was nice, polite, efficient. And honestly, you couldn't ask for a better response time from anyone. Since buying our house four years ago we have had three plumbers (Steve/Purity being the third). There's a reason we never called the other two back. (Idiots!) Any plumbing chaos in the future and we'll definitely be calling Steve back.
