My wife stopped in today to pickup dinner. It was our first time in. The man on duty was lying on a bench with a newspaper over his face. He hopped up to help her. She ordered two styles of ribs, pit beef, pulled pork, chicken, hot beef "sausage", beans, potato salad, mac n cheese, 3 kinds of sauces. The ribs were pulled from a frig or freezer and microwaved! Big problem where I'm from (TX). Let me breakdown the food. To start, there is little smoke flavor on any of the meat: two styles of ribs (very dry, nothing special, taste okay, no smoke, I can do better in my backyard), pit beef (typical for this part of the country, good flavor and texture), pulled pork (very dry, flavor okay, no smoke), chicken (best texture and flavor in the box), hot beef "sausage"(WHAT? it was a hotdog, buy sausage!), beans (no seasoning! bland tasted like they put unseasoned pork fat in them, i could not eat them), potato salad (warmer than the meat, afraid to eat), mac n cheese(liked it, prob not made at Young's though), 3 kinds of sauces (mild sause was tasty! hot sause was not spicy, was too thick and too sweet and tasted awful, vinegar (interesting, i don't eat it on my pork being from TX, but I tried it, was good on the pork). read more

I was passing through and decided to stop here for bbq. Never had food here before so I didn't know what to expect. Walked in and was greeted by a young lady and gentleman. They were really nice and helpful with assisting me with a menu selection. I opted for the 3pc chicken and collards. This was the best bbq chicken ever, not your typical oven bbq its actually smoked and you can taste the smoke, I had the sauce on the side. Bought home a pound of the pork barbecue and a bottle of the basic sauce. Not hot and not sweet. Perfectly balanced. My two Munich Bavaria Germany grandchildren loved it and ate most of the pound of pulled pork in two consecutive lunches. They sprinkled on the sauce too. Since they are German they know good pork. Best place around to get real BBQ and homemade sauces. No matter what I get from Young's I enjoy every bite. My wife and I go there regularly and get our own meals share some ribs and throw on some sauce and it's a great meal at a reasonable price. read more

Superb BBQ and the best service! We just happened on Young's during a road trip when we needed a place to turn the car around. So glad we did. I've never cared for baby back ribs before but the girl behind the counter convinced me to try theirs since they were out of spare ribs. SO glad I did! Best baby back ribs I've ever had. They're smoked dry, not cooked wet and fatty and slathered in sauce like in every other place I've ordered them. Very meaty. The homemade sauces are excellent. We got a qt of pulled pork and some vinegar sauce to take on our trip and that was also excellent! (Pulled pork nachos!) And did I mention how friendly everyone was? I did? Well, shut up! I just reloacated to the Middletown area is this is one of my go to spots. Food is great and the service is friendly. Collard greens with vinegar are my favorite. I usually order pulled pork and or the spare ribs. For what you get the prices are fair. The only issue I run into sometimes is the food is reheated and depending on who does it, it can sometimes not be as hot as it should be. I think this may also be a factor because they might be reheating leftovers. When you get a fresh rack, you can definitly tell the difference but its all good. They do nickle and dime you for the sauce sometimes, but that is normal at most BBQ restaurants for take out. I support this local business and you should give them a try. read more

Truly good barbecue and *great* value! If you buy the meats "family style", they reeeeally pack it into the containers, and the quality/flavor is fantastic! The ribs are meaty, tender, and delicious. The sides are also very good; the potato salad is my favorite - flavorful all on its own, but plain enough that you can add your own favorite "extras" to personalize it if you want. My husband is a fan of the collard greens. Their sauces, which you can buy separately, are also quite tasty. The "mild" is the perfect blend of spiciness (not heat, just spices) and tanginess. I almost wish we had a big event coming up so we could get them to do a whole pig for us! We usually do our own barbecue, but sometimes we want the goodies without the work and cleanup, and this is the place for that! I highly recommend Young's. read more

Not impressed with this place at all. I'm not sure where all the great reviews are coming from. Pulled pork was super fatty and very little flavor. Baked beans were not good at all. Tasted like they were dumped directly from a can. My husband ordered the beef brisket. Very little seasoning, almost seemed to be premade. The potato salad was very bland and mushy. My youngest son's hot dog seemed to be boiled. Older son ordered ribs. They were very dry and tasteless. BBQ sauces were just average. All of the food was served barely warm, at room temp. No fountain sodas or fries offered. Best things were the Martin's potato rolls and bagged chips. Would not recommend this place. We won't be back. read more

Young's BBQ is your typical local spot. Best BBQ in Middletown. Middletown mind you isn't very big. None the less the pork BBQ is delicious. They serve a lunchtime platter that includes a homemade oatmeal creampie that's tasty. All and all, a good spot for under $10. read more

Nice friendly atmosphere. When I was undecided about what to order, the BBQ-Meister gave me a taste of the pork and immediately swayed me toward it. The sandwich was great - tender, juicy pork stacked very high on a very fresh Martin's potato bun; plus I enjoyed two of the sauces. One star taken away for the sides, which were totally forgettable (Mac 'n' cheese and baked beans). Good value for your dollar. Next visit I'll try the brisket. read more

This place is the real deal if you are looking for BBQ in Delaware. The ribs are good to very good. The pulled pork is sometimes dry. The sides are all fair to good. Fan of this place. The value they deliver is pretty terrific. I thought the pork was tasty and the sauces were good. Sides are prepared (ie: cole slaw, beans - no fries). This is some great BBQ in Middletown! My family has been to Young's on a few occasions and have enjoyed a wide variety of different meats. Especially delicious is the Pit Beef, and on Fridays you can enjoy BBQ chicken. My husband always gets the pulled pork, which is never dry. The beans are clearly homemade, and the other sides the owner explains are from the Dutch. The staff there are always so nice as well. There isn't a lot of seating in the restaurant - just a warning. Most people use their take out though, so we've never had a problem getting a booth. Totally kid friendly as well. read more

This review is based solely on catering capabilities. We used Young's BBQ for our wedding in September 2016. While the food was good, the service was below par. I would not recommend them for catering. We knew there were some communication problems from the beginning, but tried to brush it off knowing that as long as the food showed up we would be alright with it. Well, the food showed up, but not until right when we were supposed to eat! It was not set up and all the guests were standing around while the owner set up all the food. And then he seemed to be in a rush to get out of there, asking us to make sure people came back for seconds. We were not going to walk around and push people to go eat more, it's a wedding and people are relaxing! I understand that the contract said 1 hour of service but he showed up late so we expected more leniency. This was the only vendor we had a problem with so it was less than noticeable but definitely a frustration. I don't think the owner even thought it was a big deal which was the frustrating part. The customer service is just a little too laid back for a wedding in my opinion. Otherwise, the food was good. We weren't the biggest fan of the potato salad (we chose the other ones over it) and he brought potato salad for free because he insisted that we had it so that was nice of him. We had a good meal, so I'm sure the restaurant is a good place to go, but think twice about catering. I am sure there are other comparable places with better customer service. read more

Small cozy place. When we walked in we were greeted nicely and asked what we liked and were offered some samples of their meats and sauces. Their everyday special is a fantastic deal (sandwich, 2 sides, a can of soda, and a choice of many whoopie pies) for around $9. not that great, got the pulled pork meal the meat could have used some seasoning just bland. Very small portions of the side mac and cheese and greens. Mac and cheese was not tasty at all. Best part was the soda that came with meal and they do give you a lot of meat on sandwich only if it was seasoned would have been better. First visit there don't see myself going back. read more
