I had the unfortunate experience of hiring this company for lawn mowing, snowplowing and fixing up…read moremy landscaping beds. I was very disappointed in their quality of work and professionalism. In my opinion it was a very bad experience. They were supposed to trim all my bushes and trees. They forgot to trim several of them and the others were done haphazardly. They ripped out flowers that were perennials because they thought they were weeds. Many areas were missing weed barrier, even though it was in the contract. The company admitted that the job needed more mulch, but because they underbid the job and was losing money, they would not provide any more mulch. They also admitted that their workers were new and not properly trained. In my opinion they harassed us for more money because they could not estimate the job properly. The owner continously told us of a toll bill for $1800 he owed to gain our sympathy. The owner assured us that he had arborists working for him but this statement appears to be false looking at the completed project. For snowplowing, they had to be constantly called and asked when they were coming out. The company provided an expired certificate of insurance to trick me into signing a contract. They tried to tell me that a car insurance certificate would be just as good. I have a copy of the car insurance certificate the company gave me. This company has had numerous people complain about their snowplowing service, but they delete all of their negative comments and 1 star reviews off of their social media pages. This company was hired by my elderly neighbor to cut her grass. She is 90 years old and has a hard time seeing and hearing. She paid them a lot of money. They rarely show up to cut her grass. They never even provided her with a receipt for her money or a contract. Her family had to get involved to help her. They refused to bag the grass clippings after they cut my lawn even though the contract stated they would. The grass looked atrocious with all the loose grass on it. The company canceled my contract and wanted to give it to his friend. He was going to pay him a fraction of what I paid him and keep the rest for himself. The pictures submitted with this review is how this company actually left my lawn. When I explained to them that is was unacceptable they proceeded to cancel my grasscutting contract. Most businesses when they get negative reviews they get upset and do everything in their power to have the reviews removed. Instead businesses should look at the negative reviews as a learning tool to improve their business and their employees. People really do not want to put down local businesses but they most certainly do not want to be taken advantage of. In response to the owner's comments: The fictitious accusations that this company has made instead of responding to the actual problems with his company should tell you everything you need to know about who you would be hiring

My husband asked me where they did the repairs after they had finished. That is good work. They work carefully and skillfully. They arrived when expected, worked neatly, cleaned up everything after they finished and explained everything clearly and honestly right from the beginning. I called several places and most of them were challenging to get ahold of at best (as is typical of contractors so....). Emerald called me back within a day of leaving a message with their main office that I was interested in an estimate for my project. We are arranged a time to have them come out for an estimate within a few days. The estimator arrived promptly (early in fact!) and was able to understand what I wanted to be done, explain the job to me, and offer me a fair estimate within 30 minutes. He was professional and courteous. I also let him know that I needed to get the work done ASAP and he assured me that was possible. No money had to be given upfront, which didn't make me feel confident that I would see him again, but I decided to go with them for the work anyway. What did I have to lose? Fast forward to about a week later when the owner (I believe) gave me a call asking for me to call back and set up a date for the coming week. Great! Called back and was able to set up a date for this week. Every interaction and phone call I had with Emerald was professional and helpful. They showed up this morning (9/13) at 6:15 AM. This is similar to the comment left by the other reviewer saying that they show up early. They do. The noise ordinance in my town is 7AM so this was technically a violation. There was enough noise that I couldn't get back to sleep myself. I did not remain at my residence while most of the work was being done, but I received a call around noon letting me know that my job was done. 6 hours?! Great! They called again and asked when I would be available for payment and decided how to handle that. I drove by the house on my lunch hour and was pleased with the results of the project. I had my doubts but was highly impressed. I would not hesitate to contact this company again, but I would definitely specify that I didn't work the work started before 7 AM so that we were not in violation. Everything else on the property was left immaculate, the initial job looks good, and everyone was friendly/helpful. I will update my review once I see how the job ages.
