About 6 months ago they started using an app and I received regular updates and photos about how the day was going - loved this! The prior directors, Jessica and Anissa, and the current director, Misty, have all been great and have happily answered any question I had or engaged in a conversation if I had any concerns. Our childcare needs have changed now, but if we need a daycare again, OST will be at the top of our list for both care and value.

She has no concern for your child's or your concerns. I have three children that were all going there (10, 7, 2 years old). I had to move my two year old to another daycare due to him getting bitten and scratched constantly. I understand when you have a toddler things are bound to happen at daycare. My concern is when I brought this to Gianna's attention about the safety and reporting and consequences of behavior it was brushed off, like it wasn't that big of a deal. Every single week he was enrolled here he had one to three ouch reports sent home EVERY WEEK! The teacher Natasha was very nurturing and made sure to give my son tlc when this happened and was VERY transparent about all of the situations, she was able to explain what happened what she was able to do about it, but when I went to the director.... Uhg let's just say it didn't matter. I have never felt so disrespected by a care giver in my life! I had to speak with her a few times about this and every single time it wasn't as big of a deal as I was making it out to be. One time I had my 7 year old in the office with me and I was holding his hand talking to her about my concerns for my 2 year old and she literally got in my face and was extremely Rude and saying we can't do anything for your child since it's not the same child that has bit him... she then proceeded to say that if you feel your child is unsafe you should remove him from the program. Responsibility and accountability was always evaded with Gianna... instead of trying to fix the problem she would say well we can't separate the kids... well then maybe we should address biting... granted kids bite because they can't speak their frustrations... so as a director of the daycare what do we do about biting!? Her response was all we can do is separate them for that day and call the parents of the child that bit... okay... well on one side that makes sense but for my child to be bitten pretty much 5 weeks or so in a row by "different" kids hm... something needs to be addressed obviously! I got to a point where I didn't even feel comfortable talking to the director anymore. She seriously does not care about anything... the way that she speaks to children is absolutely ludicrous saying "get out of my face, you are a child you don't get to ask questions" talk about emotional abuse! I have so much going on in my life that I don't need a daycare that has a five star rating, I'm supposed to trust, to have no care in the world! Honestly, I just don't get it! Thankfully the regional director got involved and it will be handled accordingly. I still don't feel comfortable having conversations with the director though! I will go to the co director or the teachers before I talk to Gianna.. this was my first time putting my children in daycare because I've been a stay at home mom for ten years. This is why I would rather stay at home with my children because of stuff like this. I just want to let everyone know my situation because I don't want you to go in there blindly. If they got rid of Gianna I would probably put my 2 year old back into the school but knowing Gianna doesn't care much about children and the concerns for occurrences like this, I can't. Also, the bulling of her own staff is sad. The way that she tries to scare the people that work for her because SHE got in trouble is beyond me. In my opinion Gianna needs to go this is no way upper management should ever act! I am completely baffled!

At the beginning of the school year, my grandmother passed away, and during that horrible time I asked for support to help keep my son on track with his assignments. I was told to rely on his communication notebook, but felt that wasn't enough given the circumstances. Near the end of the final trimester, I was informed that my son was at risk of failing math. I was frustrated because this was the first time I had been made aware that he was struggling. I was told there had not been any concerns before then and that he should begin attending student hours. Earlier communication (in addition to seeing some poor grades in cj which only suggested that we implement new study habits) would have allowed us to address the issue before it became so serious. Parent teacher conferences were unhelpful. Unfortunately, attending student hours was also challenging. If a student arrives even a FEW minutes late, they are not permitted to join because it would "disrupt" the ongoing session. The morning drop-off procedures can be difficult to navigate, as the gates are opened on a very strict schedule. On one occasion, I had to park and walk my son into school before 7:30 a.m., and by the time we reached student hours we were only a couple of minutes late. He was not allowed to attend. Ironically, had it been 7:31 a.m., I could have used the drive-through drop-off instead but would have been late to student hours. There were also several school policies that made the experience more difficult for our family. Students were not allowed to play tag on the playground, school lunches were not provided, and the after-school program was very costly even with scholarship.

The school strongly emphasizes academics and kids are given letter/percentage grades like high schools do. Yes there's pressure but nothing we can't handle so far. My complaints: 1. De-prioritization of physical activity. You have to put your child in an after school club (more money) for dance, bowling, and other movement-based activities. I had the opportunity to volunteer to help with hot lunch once. I learned a lot. Like just how short lunch is; it explained why my daughter was hungry but had uneaten food in her lunch last semester. Volunteering has opened my eyes and I started packing her lunches a little differently 2. It's a charter school so they have to raise money. However, the fundraiser updates in the app are ridiculous. Class vs class, grade vs grade. Everyone hurry and donate before the deadline...use the AZ tax credit...oh the deadline has been extended so you can donate more (no surprise) None of the issues I mentioned are major to me. Why? Because my kindergartener is reading, can read digital and analog clocks, she can add double-digit numbers, etc but her friends who are in 1st and 2nd grade in TUSD schools aren't there yet. The academic advantage Basis provides is unparalleled without attending an expensive private school But there are pros and cons to each school and I've included a couple for potential parents considering the school

They often logged that my child "ate everything" right after I left, but when I checked the cameras, his plate was still full. When he was in the infant room, I personally observed a teacher, Miss Andrea, mixing formula incorrectly (putting powder before water), which makes it dangerously concentrated. When my 18-month-old began biting more often after the arrival of his baby sister--a completely normal developmental stage--the teachers showed no understanding or empathy. Instead of working with us, arranging a parent meeting, or providing a clear redirection process, they suspended him. Suspending a toddler is not developmentally appropriate; a child that age cannot understand suspension. They told me they were "following policy," but when I reviewed the actual policy, it clearly stated they should have scheduled a meeting with the family first. Even more concerning, one day my child came home with a bite mark. When I asked the staff, they did not even know it had happened. Miss Andrea even suggested that my toddler "might have bitten himself." Accusing a baby of biting himself instead of acknowledging poor supervision is unacceptable and unprofessional. Lupita, the director, was especially disappointing. She lacked the skills and empathy to handle the situation, failed to communicate effectively with us, and made no effort to support our child through this normal developmental challenge. A strong director should guide staff, partner with families, and create a safe, supportive environment. Instead, Lupita was dismissive, unprofessional, and made it clear she did not care about our concerns. Most of the staff appear to be high school students or people with no degree in child development or real training in toddler behavior. The lack of professional knowledge and leadership was obvious from the top down. Also some teachers dont speak English like Miss Silva. After we disenrolled, Lupita and the staff were rude and dismissive, showing no concern for our child or family. Since moving to another daycare, my child has been thriving with no biting issues at all--proving that the problem was the environment at La Petite, not him. Overall, my child was not cared for appropriately or fairly. As both a pediatrician and a parent, I strongly advise families to look elsewhere for childcare.

My son is typically a very social, happy, and engaged boy and even at our first daycare, which we did not love for similar issues, he at least was very very quick to warm up and happy to be there. This place was a different story altogether and my main and major gripe is with the young ones teacher, Ms. Ryann--cold, detached, minimally engaged. I spent 40 minutes with my son to help him ease in on his first day at this daycare. The whole time I was in the 1 year old room, his teacher did not greet either of us, did not offer to show us where to put things....nothing. I had to go up to her and ask her right as I had to leave. She did barely anything to comfort my son when he burst into tears when I went to leave. All big red flags to me. It continued like that for our whole time there and from the times I was able to check in on the livestreams, it was the same thing from this teacher -- bare minimum greetings or verbal/app updates, no warmth towards my son as he'd walk around crying by himself throughout the mornings, no attempts to get him to join the other babies as she sat in the corner with them like a lazy lump doing no activities any time I looked in. Wouldn't know if she ever did since she never sent a single update picture the entire time we stayed there. Every day when I dropped him off and picked him up, he would totally melt down and cling to me--very different from his typical personality and even very different from his quick and easy adjustment period at his last daycare. The only day he seemed happy at pickup AND the only day we got a single picture update was a day another teacher covered. That teacher actually led art activities and I saw her smiling and engaging with him and the other babies each time I checked the livestream. The difference in his demeanor was night and day, after just one day On top of all that, he was being offered hardly any water while he was there with the normal teacher, as evidenced by a sudden and notable change in his BMs, his desire to guzzle the water I offered him at pick up and from me beginning to monitor the water level of his cup at drop off and pick up (which didn't change at all on multiple days) When we toured, one of my main concerns was that his last daycare wasn't actually taking the babies outside to play at all and we were assured these kiddos went out practically every single morning. I did tend to bring him at the tail end of the time the babies were supposed to be outside most mornings, but there was never any sign of the others being outside. Yet, when I would check the cameras to see if my baby was having a better time later in the AM (about an hour or so after drop off and the time they were meant to be outside), the kids wouldn't be visible on cameras as it seemed they were outside.... I asked about this and was told they werent actually outside at this time, just "watching the other kids play from the door"....because why?? Sounds kind of mean to not let them get their own play time, but make them watch others play...probably just because the teachers themselves wanted to socialize. That's an assumption, to be fair, but not far fetched imo To be transparent, we were only there for about 2 weeks/7 actual days. I let the director know concerns at disenrollment but didn't wait around for her to address them--time is short and everything in my gut was saying this situation sucked for him. The director didn't seem bad, and the rest of the staff was at least friendly on surface level so 2 stars instead of 1 SO happy we switched places, as it was an immediate change in his happiness and demeanor on day 1 and every single day since. We're greeted warmly and he gets right into playing happily. Hes all smiles at pickup, and we get tons of activity photos all day long. They go outside every morning and sometimes in PM and his poo is magically back to normal! Who would have thought warm energy and offering water could make such an immediate and drastic difference

Open Arms Preschool is excellent,…read more My son has attended Open Arms for the last two years. When we chose Open Arms it was easy because the staff was so accommodating and friendly. The attitude I'd see reflected as love throughout the school It was so great to find a school for toddlers not yet potty trained and all to have all meals and snacks provided My son went through the infant program and it was great for him; so much growth!! He interacted with the other babies but still got the individual infant care he needed, The daily reports are valuable, The love and care of the individual babies was apparent to me with my son amd is everytime I walk by the infant room Now my son is in the toddler program, Again, I am so impressed with the program; they are all engaged,Cool and interesting lesson topics I can see the teachers control the environment and not the kids. Everyday I see all the teacher interacting with all the kids I like the daily activities and the daily report naps and curriculum learned. Here's the bottom line review...My son has a great home but everyday I pick him up, he wants to stay at Open Arms I will keep him at Open Arms through all of their programs
