You go in, look at the menu above and behind the register, make your choices and pay the employee at the till. When I went, no one offered to answer any questions or sell me anything. The woman at the counter next to the young man behind the register just watched me while I checked stuff out. On the left between a dark room and the grocery, were large racks of Mexican pastries and breads. I have tried Mexican pastries in the past and have not really enjoyed them. But "hope springs. . ." and all that. So, seeing a decent amount of plump pastries and breads that looked incredibly fresh and enticing, I used the provided tongs and placed a few into a bag (also provided). I'm still thinking about going back for more. They were all moist and flavorful with fillings that were delicately sweetened. So so good. I perused the menu acting as though I hadn't come there for one item only - a breakfast burrito with bacon. I liked the breakfast burrito I had here and would definitely recommend it. It's a full meal capable of holding you for a long time. I would probably want to eat one again before a long day of chores, shopping, or a strenuous hike. I need to feel like I earned the calories. And I wasn't hungry until dinner. Behind the register is a doorway to a whole other experience. The kitchen is safely and sanitarily located behind tall countertops and a refrigerated section. I was excited to see the variety of offerings from south of the border. Are you hankering for a goody you can only get in Mexico, come here and look. You'll probably find it. That dark room I mentioned earlier is a huge dining area with dark iconic furniture that I discovered on my first trip to Mexico many years ago. Black leather and wood barrel shaped chairs with black leather topped round tables scattered around a dark room with black tile floors. There were patrons eating at a couple of the tables who looked like regulars. The size of the dining area made me think it would be a great place for a large gathering. I'm now wondering if they ever have live music and if they would be able to accommodate a large birthday party. There are a couple of picnic tables in the back, off the parking lot, where I ate my meal. I believe the notion of putting tables back there was more like an afterthought because it's not decorated and it's right along the back walkway from parked cars to the restaurant door. It's not regularly attended to, I guess, as there were remnants of another customer's meal at the other table. I also had the thought that it might just be a place for the employees to take a break and eat a meal in peace. Overall, I will be coming back and trying other menu items, baked goods and products from the other room.

It's a small restaurant with just a few tables and the ordering situation is a bit wonky (just one small window to order and pickup from). The staff was ultra-friendly and the food came out quick. As for the food, it was just okay... The BBQ itself wasn't bad, but it was definitely precut and kept in warmers (this would give a pit master down in TX a myocardial infarction as this is a huge "no no"); the sides were actually really good though. The total was about $30 for lunch, which to me was a bit high based on the quality of the BBQ. Overall... Not bad, not great, but not certainly TX BBQ.

Carina and David produce the best German sausages in California! We buy them nearly every weekend and sometimes during the week I visit their shop and get a refill for my Brotzeitbox As a German Wurst Expert I tell you these are the real deal and you don't find better ones in Germany either. You can taste that they put their whole heart in this business and what ever you buy, you will never regret......my favorites are Nürnberger, Pepperbites and Rheinländer. I love it . If you want truly authentic German Sausages then you have to go to You-Bite. My wife is German and we have made many trips to Germany. You-Bite is as close as you can get without actually going to Germany. It is as good as and in many cases also better than any Bratwurst We have had in Germany. You have to eat them outside on one of the small picnic tables (which appear to belong to the neighboring stores), or in your car. They're messy, so I wouldn't recommend the car. My buddy brought me here and swore these were the best burgers. Just one bite and I could taste what the fuss was all about. We ordered the cowboy burgers which come with grilled onions, avocado, lettuce, tomato and cheese. They were tasty and oh so tender. My buddy also gets about a month's worth of tri tips and steaks at a time here. They vacuum seal the meat upon request, and my buddy has yet to find a better tri-tip in the area. Saw it neatly nestled off Hueneme Road on the North side- 'pert-near' Perkins Street. As I walked in, I found the "Meat Section" waaaay in the rear right corner of the store. They only have two small 'Vitrinas' refrigeradas side by side (as I recall). The meat choices are very small but the Butcher is very attentive, courteous and eager to please the Customer Anywho- I had decided to make a whole potful of POZOLE for which pork is required. Pozole is a Mexican Iron-Kettle-Stew-Type-Dish, Older than American Pepper Pot Soup. And I just had a feeling Las Playas would have pork meat. They did. I bought a 1 kilo and some delicious, hot chicharrones. As a whole, the store stocks what it can. It's sort of like a Mom & Pop business, Reminds me of that old adage, "Support Your Local Sheriff", so I'm for supporting Local Business most likely than not. If you're near Las Playas, go in and drop off some greenbacks.
