Anyone who buys fresh produce knows that sometimes a papaya, jicama, or other fruit can look perfect on the outside but end up going bad on the inside--that's just nature. What sets this place apart is how they handle it. If you bring it to their attention, they'll happily replace it at no extra cost. The same goes for their farm-fresh eggs. They genuinely care about their customers and stand behind their products. Their eggs are local, high quality, and incredibly reasonably priced for what you're getting. The produce is always fresh, and their customer service is exceptional. They once gave us a rue plant that wasn't looking its best, and today it's absolutely thriving. Another thing we love is their beautiful sunflower bouquets. They're only $5 a bunch, which is already a great deal. Even better, if you stop by near closing and the sunflowers are fully opened and at the end of their display life, they'll often give them away for free rather than let them go to waste. It's clear that this is a family business that values quality, fairness, and their community. We keep coming back because we know we'll always be treated honestly and with kindness. Our family has been visiting this farm since my firstborn was a teeny-tiny baby -- nearly two decades of memories! There's something special about a place that grows alongside your family. Spring brings Easter festivities and the tulip garden, which opens around February and stays until the blooms finish their show. Summer means strawberry picking, while fall brings the much-anticipated Harvest Festival, and in winter there are Christmas trees. Most of the time they have the standard staples like oranges, grapefruit and smaller citrus when they're in season like mandarins, pears, peaches and so on. They also have cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, ginger, baby bananas, big bananas and even plantains. Squash and papaya too. Lots of different candies too and even local honey. They also sell roses, fruit trees like fig, and guava. Don't forget they have $1 pieces of orange wood firewood. I love this place, I hope you enjoy it too!

They had a mix of food items for sale from fruits and veggies to desserts, to fish to drinks but they also had jewelry, clothes, toys, cremes and balms and other assorted items. Their fruits and veggies were impressive. It was so vibrant, colorful, fragrant. Enjoy my photos of the berries to see what I mean. I did buy a bakery item from the booth that had a lot of items, but no one in line, no wait versus the other booth that had a good amount of items but about 15 people in line. I should have known. My coffee cake item had saran wrap but it had a hole in it, and it was very stale. I am assuming that the hole led to it being stale and not that it was an old item not freshly made that day. It was very disappointing. If you are in the area, stop in and check it out.

We had been to another lavender farm in the upper Ojai Valley some years ago and I was looking for that info to return. That one has closed, but thankfully, Frog Creek Farm is a wonderful "find" for us. The lavender full blossom season is short, so you need to check on them via social media to find out when they are open. Instagram has current info. It's a delight to pull off the Ojai/Santa Paula Road and mosey on to their property. They have so much to see, including their cutting garden of seasonal flowers, some places to sit at picnic tables in the shade and even swing (i.e., hammock), the gift shop, and the lavender rows - the main event. Larry provides a great introduction at the small stand adjacent to the flowering beds. He describes the location and how to identify the five kinds of lavender they offer for cutting. For 2025 pricing - $16 earns you a generous bunch of fragrant blooms. After orientation, you are off with a basket to collect the stems, and scissors to do your own cutting / harvesting. As promised, the plentiful bees scattered away as we leaned in to cut the stems close to the main host bushes. We wandered among the rows and filled up our gathering basket. Back at the stand, Larry tied our haul into a beautiful bunch. We proceeded to the gift shop to pay for our pickings, and I also found a few other items to purchase, including lavender-infused spray which has many purposes. Christel greeted us as we were wrapping up our visit. She filled us in as we asked questions about how long they'd been there, as well as about some of their products. She's as sweet and charming as the farm is. What a lovely place to visit. We'll be putting it on the to-do list next summer, for sure!

From the personal lavender lesson, to the hands on cutting, shopping the lavender shed to sipping amazing lavender lemonade under the trees, it's such a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Christel and Larry are just the nicest people. They make you feel so welcome to be visiting their little slice of heaven. We love this annual tradition.
