Bento Lunch Box: Chicken Teriyaki & Salmon Sashimi
Anh T.

There were quite a few people here on a Wednesday afternoon. The place is spacious, seating around 40 people at maximum capacity. The AC and ventilation was welcoming on a warm day. My friend ordered the Spicy Tuna and Avocado Roll, while I ordered the Lunch Bento Box with Chicken Teriyaki and Salmon Sashimi. Our miso soups came with carrots and cabbage, and what they had in the soups were quite heavy and filling. With the normal ingredients and taste I expected for Japanese miso, this was not it. Although my chicken teriyaki tasted good, it was not the texture I was expecting for the chicken either. The salmon sashimi was good but nothing unique. My friend enjoyed her rolls as it being her quick lunch, but we both felt like we still needed something afterwards to quench our thirst and satisfy us food-wise. For a quick bite with minimal expectations, I would try this place again if need be.

Omg this place is so cute and omg the owners are soo cute. Yall have to get the Yam Tempura Roll like it's sooo good . Owners are just so nice and welcoming. I would say 9/10

I've been coming here for the past year and they do not disappoint! I've never eaten inside (they barely re-opened to seating) but takeout has been such a smooth, fast process! While the rolls are not out of this world, they're delicious, fresh and well-made. What really gives my rating 5 stars is their customer service, each and every time I've come for pickup, their chef and front desk cashier are just the sweetest, smiling and warm welcoming, they always remember me too (probably cause they've seen me one too many times lol). My favorites are the 49'er Roll and Miso Soup; fresh fish on the roll and the miso is just perfection. They add cabbage to it which makes it more hearty and it's always served so warm. I've tried many other rolls as well and each of them are just as good. I have yet to try other items (teriyaki chicken, etc). 10/10 recommend this place!

I love going there. The owners are super friendly, the sushi is fresh and well made, and it's not expensive.

They always joke about how the places on Yelp with 3.5 stars are the best -- this is definitely the case for You See. Let me just say, this is the most basic, no frills you can get with sushi and it is really the bang for your buck. It may not be the best quality, but for the price and amount? It is great. Another added plus is that the cutest lady runs this order at the door sushi restaurant. She is very sweet and deserves all of the love in the Sunset neighborhood. She offered me complimentary miso soup when I picked up my order! There's no seating, so this is definitely the place if you just want to grab a quick bite to go.

Had it a few more times and edit to 4*. Service is still great, ambiance the same casual take out. The sushi just hasn't been enough to satisfy the craving since I found Amami (which charges a bit more but it's sushi is proportionally more substantial/fresh.)

I've been to this friendly local neighborhood restaurant for a few years now. Currently, they are only doing take out. The owner is always very sweet and friendly! This place doesn't deserve such low ratings, don't expect high quality, since the food is pretty cheap. I love love their chicken teriyaki and California roll. It's tasty and a great portion. I always come here for a quick dinner! And as a plus, they give free miso soup !

Hamachi, Saba Maki, California Maki, Miso Soup, Prawn 4 Pieces

Small mom and pop sushi place. Really nice people and sushi is fresh. No place to sit as it's take out only from a window/door. That's ok...it's our go-to place for take out sushi!

SOO happy to find an affordable local sushi spot in SF! We got all of the below for ~$80 with tip and it was more than enough food for 4 people. - Avocado roll - Spinach roll - Mixed veggie roll - Atlanta roll x3 - Rock n roll - Shiitake roll - Avocado cucumber roll - Hamachi avocado roll - Chicken teriyaki - Side of rice - Edamame - Seaweed Salad - Miso soup x4 I loved their variety of veggie rolls and at a great price point. You See Sushi (you get it-- since it's at the edge of "UC"SF) will be my new go to sushi spot moving forward.

What a great sushi spot! I'm surprised it doesn't have better reviews ! Firstly I'd like to mention that we had a great experience ordering from here, the lady taking our order was very sweet and I can see that they take an extra effort to be courteous to their customers. They have quite a few options for vegetarians and we loved the yam tempura rolls! Definitely a favorite. The avocado cucumber rolls were also really good. They also gave us extra ginger which was nice as a lot of places don't do that. The price is quite reasonable which makes it a great option for a weeknight dinner/lunch and I highly recommend trying them out.

We called to ask about a walk-ins, and they told us they could get us a spot in 20 minutes on a Saturday at ~7:45 p.m. We had: - Scallop skewers: 5/5, I've never had scallop skewers this good. So creamy, juicy, and tender - Uni toast: 5/5, perfect ratio between the toast and the uni. The toast was super soft. It just paired really well with all the other ingredients. Seasoned also perfectly - Heavenly salmon roll: 5/5, before eating this, we were so skeptical because we saw imitation crab which usually overpowers everything but WOW. It just paired so perfectly. - Snow mountain roll: 5/5, love the acidity on this. - Okaeri donburi: 4/5, felt like too much rice for the ingredients that were on it, but still enjoyed it. The level of execution and attention to detail on some of these dishes was insane. It's so rare that places nail so many dishes. I cannot wait to go back!!! Still dreaming of this meal.

What we ordered: + San Ten Mori (assorted sashimi) [4/5]: The highlight of our meal was the yuzu wasabi that came with the salmon + amberjack in this set. It was sooo delicious and spicy. The fish were plated beautifully, and the quality was pretty good. + Shungiku Kama Sarada (chrysanthemum greens & duck breast) [6/5 - would recommend]: WOW. I was so pleasantly surprised by how fresh, crunchy, and acidic this salad was. The greens are amazing. On top of that, the duck breast was so tender and delicious-- I just wish the dish came with a few more slices. + Chicken Oyster [4/5]: I really loved how juicy this was. I normally don't like chicken because of how dry it is, but this was a great skewer. I wish the skin was a little less burnt. The chicken was also so thick that while the outside was juicy, the inside was a little drier. + King Trumpet [4/5]: Wow! These looked amazing when they arrived. I thought the flavor was great but the texture was a bit rubbery. + Kama Tama Udon (carbonara) [4.5/5]: Delicious! I couldn't stop eating this udon slathered in amazing thick sauce. + Chiizu Tori Katsu [4/5]: This was sooo good. I wish the cheese ratio was 3x as much, but the flavor and tenderness of the katsu is delicious. Huge props to Rintaro; my Resy reservation was initially cancelled due to an accident in booking, but the staff was so friendly and went above & beyond to help me get my reservation reinstated at a similar time.

The place fills up around 6pm so arriving ahead of that will save you a wait. They don't take reservations, so first come first served. The ordering experience is really smooth. Everything is done through an iPad at your table and the food comes out to you. They won't let you place a new order until your previous one has been delivered, which honestly is a smart system and helps with pacing so you don't over order right out of the gate. What sets this place apart from other AYCE spots is the variety. It's not just sushi. You can also order appetizers, salmon, teriyaki chicken and more, so there's something for people who want to mix it up beyond rolls. Delicious, easy, affordable and in the neighborhood. Wish it had a bit more torching and cheese, but still delicious - Rainbow Roll -- smaller-sized roll topped with salmon, tuna, shrimp, and avocado - Dragon Roll -- classic unagi and avocado combo; can't go wrong here - Double Salmon Roll -- salmon both inside and on top with a light lemon garnish - Heaven Roll -- tuna-heavy roll inside and out; great for tuna lovers - Bay Bridge Roll -- another standout; tuna and avocado topped with roe and white sauce - Miso Soup -- simple and comforting - Salmon Avocado Roll -- classic fresh combo with cucumber added for crunch - Nigiri (seared salmon, unagi, baby scallop, salmon avocado) -- probably the best quality items overall; loved the fatty scallop and seared salmon - Mixed Greens Salad -- underrated side with a sesame-ranch style dressing - Yammy Yammy Roll -- spicy tuna and seared tuna topped with spicy mayo and unagi sauce - Hamachi Kama -- thinner cut than expected but still buttery and tender There was no wait on a Friday night and our party was seated immediately. The restaurant has tables in both the front dining area and a quieter back section that feels more private. You order through a tablet attached to the table, which also tracks your remaining AYCE time. Service was extremely efficient and dishes came out surprisingly fast. Some items stood out more than others, but overall we definitely got our money's worth. For around $50 including tax and tip, it's a pretty reasonable AYCE sushi option in SF.

We got the omakase, which was massive and had 18 courses. They gave us a menu so we knew what to expect for each course, and we ordered some sake. The omakase was delicious and more traditional than other places, each course was so beautiful and delicately made. This is definitely a lot of food, I would recommend the petite omakase in the future as I was stuffed, but it was a great experience if you come hungry! Courses: - Chawan-mushi - super tasty and every bite was delicious and umami forward! - Otsumami - 7 seasonal appetizers presented in a beautiful box, there was a stuffed crab claw in there that was delicious - 4 kinds of sushi - each piece came out one at a time, the first piece was my absolute favorite and blew me away, it was a seared chutoro that immediately melts in your mouth and tastes smokey - Hamachi soup - very tasty and warming soup with hamachi inside, was perfect in between the sushi course - 4 kinds of sushi - A5 Waguyu shabu - this course was extra $10 pp but was so delicious, the wagyu was melt in your mouth and had some grated daikon on top in a ponzu dashi, the toppings help balance the meat so it's overwhelming since it does melt in your mouth, one of my favorite bites! - 4 kind of sushi - they brought out some really great sushis, including more chutoro and an unagi handroll, but I was so stuffed at this point that I felt I couldn't enjoy it as much - miso soup - this soup was so tasty and kind of revived me after all that food, it felt comforting and a great way to end - dessert- I got the hojicha ice cream in a waffle like cookie and it was delicious!

Our drinks were ready in about five minutes, and every single one was excellent. You can tell Shoji puts real intention into the drink program--the flavors were balanced, the presentation was beautiful, and everything felt elevated without being overdone. It is the kind of place where even a simple coffee or matcha feels special. I also loved that there are different areas to enjoy depending on your mood. The back patio is bright, open, and beautifully lit, making it a great spot to sit and relax. Inside, the darker, more intimate seating area has a cozy, quiet, almost hidden-gem feeling that would be perfect for a date or a slower morning coffee. The contrast between the quick-service front and the more atmospheric seating areas makes the whole place feel very well thought out. Shoji is easily one of the best coffee experiences I've had in San Francisco. I'm honestly surprised there isn't already more than one location, because this concept could be a huge hit throughout the city. Great service, beautiful design, fast execution, and truly exceptional drinks. We will absolutely be back.
