I've been going to this Yoshinoya location for years and have never had an issue. They've always been amazing but in the last few months I've had horrible experiences. I recently ordered a clam chowder and as I'm more than halfway done with the bowl, I choke on something. Come to find out, it was a crab shell. I have no idea how it got in there. I decided to call Yoshinoya and just let them know what happened and ask if they serve anything with crab, which they don't. Just today, I ordered an original beef bowl. Right as I open my bowl, there is a big solid piece of meat that looks bright pink. Not the color of undercooked meat but almost like a dye. As I'm pulling apart the piece of meat I find that it's blue on the inside! I'm so disappointed and I hope that they put more focus into the quality and safety of their food. read more

Yoshinoya in general has been around for a long time to where they are popular here in the United States and to where they even sponsor NJPW New Japan Pro Wrestling because of the fact that they give customers fast healthy food at an affordable price wayyyyy before the Waba Grills and Flame Broilers. Parking isn't bad because they share a strip mall with a Foster Freeze, El Pollo Loco and even the Carson Library nearby. I honestly don't understand the many people who are complaining about the quality of food and customer service at this Yoshinoya; then I look at how they have over 1,000 friends and only single or double digit amount of reviews, then I'm like "ahhh ... just like Kyle Broflovski's dad on South Park". If this particular Yoshinoya was as bad as people type about and rate it; then why has it stayed open for so many years with a cult and local following of consistent customers?????????? Anyways.... aside from some of the idiot customers who mess things up for the good customers; I've never really had any problems eating here or even getting food to go. One of my favorite places to visit when in LA...this location did not disappoint. Well, not really... On Yelp, it says they closed at midnight but we went around 9:45pm; upon entering, the lady at the counter said they were closing in 10 minutes and that our orders would need to be made to go. That was the only strange part so who knows if they really closed at this time or if they had some place to go to! Food was on par with their other well run locations: ribbon beef was tender, sauce over soft steamed white rice was great; just a hearty fast casual meal looking to fill a 4 hour void, and boy does it work well in doing so. read more

This review is based on their drive-thru. I just happen to be around the area and realized I had coupons in my purse for a free bowl (with a purchase, of course.) Decided to go through their drive-thru because it got a little late and the strip mall wasn't exactly well-lit. Pulled up after a customer ahead of me and an automated/pre-recorded comes out of the speakers asking if I wanted to try their BBQ ribs. "No, thank you." Then a live person came up next asking if I could hold for a few. "Sure." That "few" lasted a little too long. I sat there at least 3 minutes with NOTHING. I think the car ahead of me had already gone and I still yet to put in an order. I've seen Yoshinoya around for a while now, but I've never had the desire to try it until I had it for lunch with my coworkers. I typically love Teriyaki Chicken but this one was a no for me. I ordered the regular teriyaki chicken (without any additional side or drinks) and that cost me around $8-$9? It's fairly pricey compared to other Teriyaki places. The chicken was really bland for me and the sauce didn't taste like Teriyaki. I personally didn't like that it wasn't proportioned correctly either. There were more veggies and rice, than chicken. I wish I was exaggerating, but there was only about 5 pcs of chicken in that bowl. Nothing about the flavors stood out to me and I genuinely just enjoyed the veggies. For anyone who wants to try Yoshinoya, I suggest trying out a small business because you would probably get your money's worth there. read more

Japanese Gyudon or Beef Bowl (whichever you prefer). Obviously it's not going to be as good as Japan's but this place does it right. The consistency of the rice is perfect (not too mushy, not too hard) and the beef is fresh. They also follow instructions. Beef juice on the side and they do it. Leaving absolutely no juice lying on the rice. I've also been to many Yoshinoya locations and most have been so-so. Either the cooks here take their jobs a little more seriously or it's because I arrived during lunch. Nevertheless, I'm satisfied with the stuff I got here for 2 visits now. I live 19 miles away from this location and would gladly drive the distance for quality. Tip: Tastes really good even after refrigerating and microwaving for 2-3 minutes! This is the worst drive thru. They take forever. There were 4 cars ahead of me. Waited over 20 mins. In n Out has lines out to the streets and I never waited this long. Not sure what they're doing when prepping the food. I've seen the cars ahead of me with just one order. Are the employees busy chatting and not working? I went to the Carson location today and stood at the counter for about 5 minutes. There were 3 employees and not a single person greeted me or acknowledged my presence, although they looked me straight in the eyes as I waited to order. There was a cashier standing by the drivethru window helping customers, but after the customers drove off, he continued to stand at the window. He looked me squarely in the face and did not greet me, did not advise me he would be right with me, nor did he tell any other employees that I was there waiting to order. As I was finally about to speak up, which I should NOT as a paying customer, the cook tells the rest of the team that they had no white rice at all. This was sometime after opening as it was a littler after 10am. Needless to say, I walked out. I was craving a beef bowl so I drove out to the Torrance location on Sepulveda and had a much better experience there. The restaurant was much cleaner and as soon as I walked in the door I was greeted and serviced by a team of 2 employees, one handling the counter and drivethru and one cook. I came here today in the hopes of a simple Bowl of chicken teriyaki/steak over brown rice, it blows my mind how inconsiderate the cooks are in terms of quality control. I've been here a total of 4 times and no matter what I am almost always disappointed in the quality. Let's break this down: The brown rice is never cooked with enough water, it is always clumpy, slightly stiff, and dry. The coleslaw sometimes has a little seasoning but is generally bland I will give it one star just because the meat is generally cooked ok, but they almost always over pour the sauce and is rarely consistent. Sometimes I get a nasty clump it chicken and other times it's decent. I've thrown away so many half eaten bowls here and after today I am refusing to come back. The franchise owner needs to drop in one day in the drive through, try a chicken bowl, and star hiring some real cooks. read more
