Twice as good and half as cheap as a dealership. Don't think twice, this is the shop for you.

I found Mount Airy Motors years ago and knew that I had finally found a truly honest Automobile…read moreRepair Shop that strives to do the job right every time they have worked on any of my own or my Children's vehicles. Today, I would give "Mount Airy Motors" and their New Shop in Westminster, MD, "Superior Car Care", 10 Stars for owning up to a mistake made after my Sons Jeep had the Brakes replaced last week and his Jeep broke down yesterday, with a bad Alternator in Westminster at the Chick-Fil-A near his home. I can typically do simpler repairs on vehicles outside of the engine, due to my training from the Carroll County Vo-Tech, so I loaded up all my tools and met my Son at his Jeep, so we could replace the Alternator yesterday evening after buying a replacement, except no matter our efforts, we could not get the Lug Nuts Off any wheels and could only budge 1, but it made a sound that I thought if we put anymore weight onto the new bigger tire iron we bought, that we would break the lug stud. My Son was understandably upset, because it is so hard these days to get things done correctly, and I was upset myself, but knew that the owner Ted, was a Very Fair and Honest Tradesmen. I called Ted this morning and after explaining what happened, he told me his guys are instructed to tighten all Lug Nuts to 90 in.lbs, which makes it possible to get your wheels off your vehicle with the tire iron that comes with your car so you can replace a flat tire. Ted let me know that he had a new Automotive Repair shop in Westminster, MD and he would send a guy over to meet my Son to check the Lug Nuts and take them off so we could work on replacing the Alternator. About 15 minutes later, Ted called back and told me that the Lug Nuts were indeed over tightened and that he had sent a stern warning to his Mechanics, as well as that he would take care of the problem to get my Son going again. Once I heard this, I knew that Ted is good for his Word and waited to hear back from my Son. My Son recently messaged me that "Superior Car Care" had taken care of everything, which included swapping out the bad Alternator, which I had not expected, but had instructed my Son to go ahead and have them replace it, since it's at their shop. Obviously, with Mount Airy Motors and Superior Car Care, something that appears to be a Curse, will turn out to truly be a Blessing. A Huge Thank You to Ted and the Mechanics that helped us out today. Your Honorable Work is Truly Rare these days

The next day it wouldn't start again so I had it towed to their garage. My car sat for two full days. They call to tell me I needed an oil change. I said I don't think that has anything to do with my car not starting. I asked if they looked at maybe the starter or the alternator....they said they can't do that until I get a new battery. I said, oh now I need a new battery also? They said, well its at 50% capacity. I said why do I need a new batter if its at 50% capacity? Don't you have a diagnostic machine you can just hook it up to and find out what's wrong? He said not until the battery voltage is correct. Well, he just told me the battery voltage WAS correct...so what's the deal here? They just don't want to look at what I'm telling them is the likely problem because...?? My Dad has been a mechanic his entire life and he told me the issue would likely be. I tell this to the mechanic and he just blows me off. I am beyond pissed. I let me car sit there for two days, had it towed there, and they do nothing. NOTHING. I absolutely do not recommend taking your vehicle here...even if it is CLOSE BY. Go to a dealer. Yes, they are more expensive but at least they will fix your car and not just let you hanging for days.

I needed two tires replaced on my Mini Cooper. I previously called the Costco in Frederick but…read morelearned that they no longer carry my tire size. I called Mr Tire on a Thursday and within a five minute call I had an appointment set for the following Sunday at 10am. They did carry my size and told me the price of the tire and what brand of tire I could choose from. On Sunday I stopped by at 10 am. They were ready for me and asked if I'd like a couple additional options, including tire alignment and a type of warranty. I did not feel pressured at all to get any of these options. I headed out and got a call that my car was ready by 10:45. I picked up my car a couple hours later and everything was great! I looked over an itemized bill before paying for the tires. The tires were 275 with disposal fees and the service charge was around 60, so I paid a total of 350 for the new tires and service. Great deal and my car is ready to go! It was a very straightforward process with no surprises.

Here is why they get 1 star and why they lost me forever as a customer:…read more -They got the toe value wrong on an alignment that they performed 8K miles ago and that mistake damaged my new, expensive tires. -When they performed that so-called "alignment," I personally witnessed their employee use an air ratchet to tighten the lug nuts on my alloy wheels, and not a torque wrench as they state that their employees are supposed to use. -As a result of the premature tire wear, I brought the car in for an alignment check and a tire rotation. They gave me back my car after servicing the tires and the LOW TIRE PRESSURE warning light was on. I immediately told the service writer about it and he just shrugged and said "we moved your tires around and that caused the light to come on, so just drive it and it probably will go off." Really? The light only turns on if it detects air pressure below the required amount and only turns off if the tire has the required pressure. It doesn't just turn on or off if the tires get moved around. Instead of going out and checking the tire pressures or getting the person who worked on my car to do it, this supposed "tire expert" was too arrogant and lazy to do anything more than toss BS at me and hope I'd go away. -The real reason the LOW TIRE PRESSURE light was on was because they failed to check and adjust the tire pressures when rotating my tires. The correct tire pressures for my car are 32 lbs. front and 38 lbs. rear. After the rotation, the fronts were at 38 lbs. and the rears were at 32 lbs. This caused the TPMS to turn on the LOW TIRE PRESSURE warning light for the rear tires. -They took no measures to protect the interior of my car from the grime, grease and dirt on their employee's hands and clothing. As a result, he smeared brown grease and black, sooty filth all over the light tan leather driver seat and door handle and on the leather steering wheel and shift knob. I had to clean the seat as best I could with a napkin and hand sanitizer so that I could drive it home without ruining my clothes. For a number of years, this place used to be OK and once, I even gave it a favorable review. I think that it has undergone a lot of personnel changes. I would no longer recommend it for any service unless you are satisfied with: sloppy alignments that put expensive tires at risk of damage; use of an air ratchet to tighten the lug nuts on alloy wheels; careless work on tires that omits re-setting tire pressures after a rotation; having the interior of your car trashed by grease and black soot; and no ownership for addressing or fixing problems that they cause that activate tire pressure warning lights. There are a lot of tire stores in the area. This is not one that I will ever revisit.
