Does this company not know how to do flashing around chimneys!? Back in November 2023, M & M Roofing began re-roofing my friend's house in Oak Bay but his crew did not do the flashing around the chimney, and they left a deficit in the roof that causes a leak into my friend's bedroom. She has a tub in her bedroom collecting rain water. Is his roofing crew not qualified to do the proper flashing around chimneys? Every 2 or 3 months since the initial work in November 2023, we would phone Mike Magdalenich to enquire when he'd come by to do the flashing, he'd always says he is really busy, but will get around to it. Yeah, right! We are still waiting. Two winters of rain and snow have come and gone since the start of the roofing began. Another winter is coming up. Now Mike Magdalenich doesn't even respond to our calls. M & M Roofing's ready excuse is always that the company is "really busy, but will get around to it". The result is M &. M Roofing can't be depended upon. It is clearly unreliable and non-responsive. I am sure it is a nice problem for M & M Roofing to have in that they are always "really busy," but what homeowner wants to wait months, even years, for this company to do the roofing on a homeowner's home!? Beware of this company as it has a pattern of not being able to commit to a set start date or completion schedule! (Because they are so busy.) Even worse, M & M Roofing wants to be immediately paid in full once the roofing work is done. Payment in full immediately. If M & M Roofing says they will be back to complete the job, don't believe them! M & M Roofing has no incentive to return if they have already been paid in full. Was a very disappointing experience with M & M Roofing.

I was assured that they would have a plumber out very soon. A plumber called to check in, with a time frame of within 1 hr. Sure enough, two plumbers arrived within that timeframe. Brock and Easton were very professional and both courteous, respectful and patient with my elderly client and myself. Every step was explained, price quoted and agreed to prior to commencing, as they worked through the diagnostics and resulting cause. The estimater/superviser/manager is a really hard working and honest fellow, and is really one of the better construction contractors that I have met. He gave a clear and concise description of the work they would do, and the price agreed to was what was paid. He earns the company a full five stars. Unfortunately the company has other people in it. When the work started, the superviser was busy with another job and so we got two guys who seemed to be either labourers or at most apprentices. They didn't seem to have any clue as to what they should be doing and no one was there to supervise them. I can forgive inexperience and rookie mistakes, but one of these guys was also rude and ill-mannered. At the end of each day's work, I would find chicken bones, fast food wrappers, and tin cans spread around the yard. Even when there was a dumpster for them to use, the one guy always left his garbage on the sidewalk or in the bushes. The worst offence was when he walked to the opposite side of the yard from the house he was working on, and brought a garden gnome back to the worksite - I still don't know why - but that evening it had been busted by them. IMHO this was a deliberate act by someone who didn't want to be doing his job. They also crushed the eavetroughs and seem to have drilled a couple of small holes in the side of the house - why? Finally two weeks into a three day job their superviser shows up and only then do they start working hard. (It seemed like that was the first day the superviser realized they had started on the job) The second big disappointment was when the owner of the company came out to do his final inspection. He spent the entire time explaining that these are his best workers (I would hate to see his worst workers!) and saying what a great company he has. Any concerns the homeowners had were brushed aside and ignored. I think the owner should leave customer relations to his manager in future... In the end, I give the company five stars because the manager was fantastic when he was around and the final result looks good to my untrained eye. They lose two stars for giving the job to seeming rookie apprentices with no supervision and who appear to have intentionally damaged the job site and generally made a mess with their lunch-time littering. They lose another star for the owner being completely out-of-touch with what is happening in his company and ignoring the customer. They have potential, but they really need to clean up their customer relations!

Mike and his team - Vlad, Ivan, and Alex - deserve every high mark for their attention to detail, work ethic, and craftsmanship. We cannot recommend them enough. We hired Victoria Pro Siding to replace the cedar shingles on our 1912 house with Hardie shingle. Maintaining the historic look of the house was important to us and Mike was willing and able to make that happen, going to lengths that other siding companies were hesitant about. He was very communicative and carefully planned how his team would implement our requests. His team members, Vlad, Ivan, and Alex, were fast, efficient, friendly, and diligent workers; we were impressed with their dedication to the project. Mike continued to consult with us for the duration of the job - providing updates, asking for input on aesthetic decisions, and alerting us to any structural issues found as the original siding was removed (he was also very accommodating, and worked around required repairs). Following a period of time to allow the insulation to dry out, Lois returned as she and her partner were sure they figured out the cause of the flood. It was simply a re-run of the first visit and pure speculation that the overflow in one of the bathtubs could be the culprit. ( We noted that the bathtub was not used the day/night prior to the flood. ) In the end, it cost me almost $500.00 to have her troubleshoot and leave a ceiling requiring drywall repair. That, I'm sure will probably cost as much as it did to create the damage. I am a senior and I hate to admit that I still trust people to be honest and upfront, especially if they don't know what they are doing.
