My family was just walking by (full from too much chocolate) when I spotted a line out the door for ice cream, my greatest weakness. I just had to pop in to see what the fuss was about. Persuaded my friend to come here and try out their cute macaron ice cream sandwich and we were not disappointed ! The service was alright and although the shop is quite small, we didn't have to wait a long time before being served. I decided to go for the litchi one (pink) and my friend chose the summer berries macaron sandwich (purple). Although both of them were delicious, I've got to say the purple one was our favourite. It was nice and creamy and just perfect for the hot summer weather we had today. The litchi ice cream wasn't bad at all, but the macaron had too much litchi extract/oil for our taste. We also couldn't resist getting a Pandan and Coconut ice cream scoop, and it was amazing ! This shop is a bit on the pricier side, but it's to be expected. A friend mentioned they change up their flavours weekly, so check in for new stuff. Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich - delicious and love the concept. They rotate their flavors every weekend, which is a plus. Lots of asian flavours, too. The flavours might be foreign to some, so pick wisely or according to your taste. We waited 10-15 min and enjoyed it. Most importantly, the kids loved it. THE QUEUE/LINE/WAIT - The queue can be up to 2hrs depending on the time.. I have other things to do than wait this long for ice cream. Staff answered questions in one word answers and was annoyed that we wanted to make our own sandwich vs choosing from the ones they had a available. Ok, I know I slated the flavours of Yolkin the last time but when I heard they were doing red velvet and Milo flavours this week I really couldn't help myself. Everyone must have had the same idea because when I rocked up at 12pm on the dot, there was already a long queue in front of the shop. After a 30 minute wait, I'm finally through and walking away with two macaron sandwiches - success! The red velvet macaron is Yolkin's most popular flavour I am told. It certainly lives up to it. The ice cream tastes precisely like cream cheese frosting and there are red velvet crumbs folded into it. There is also a layer of crumbs coating the outside of the ice cream which balances the sweetness of the ice cream quite nicely and gives it an interesting texture. The flavour in the Milo was a bit more delicate although it started coming through the more I ate into it. The macarons were also a lot better than the previous time. There was a better height to them, and they were more chewier than the previous time where it felt a bit frozen. Both macarons easily deserve 5 stars. Definitely go but find out the flavours beforehand (on both their Instagram and FB page) From experience, some ones are definitely better than others and it can be a bit hit and miss. read more

After having brunch nearby, my friend and I were in need of a dessert fix. We checked out Yelp and I found that I had bookmarked this place so we gave it a try. Ice cream macaron sandwich, yum! I decided to go for a 'Build your Own' so chose salted caramel brownie ice cream and all the macarons are almond flavour, and they had only pink available, so had that. It looked very photogenic but it was a bit more difficult to eat! As the ice cream had been scooped on, it got a bit messy once I took a bite but it tasted good. The texture was strange to feel like you're eating a macaron but then you have the ice cream in the middle! It was all over far too quickly and I wanted more, but I resisted. It didn't help that my friend had chosen a ready constructed macaron ice cream sandwich, which was a lot denser and structured to eat, so her's seem to last a lot longer. I did like that you could chose your own ice cream, but I was disappointed that all the macarons were the same flavour or that you couldn't at least choose the colour you wanted. I do however think I would still prefer that to one pre maid. I feel like the experience and taste would be a lot different with the ice cream moulded and dense. They also did fortune cookies make from ice cream cone which looked so good! I think if I returned I would probably try ice cream along with a fortune cookie and toppings to have a new experience. Also, from their menu, it also looks like they have a lot 'coming soon' so they is plenty more things to try. read more

Finally I got my hands on the macaroon ice cream that has been a storm during the last few month. It's a pop up store every weekend afternoon from 12 until sold out. They are sold incredible quick. I got the last one at 2:20pm. Can you imagine? The flavours usually based on Asia ingredients. At the price 4.50 I expected so much more from it. A friend tagged me in a post of one of these amazing macaron ice cream sandwiches. I waited in line one day attempting to snag one and they ran out 2 people ahead of me. I was so bummed. I went back and tried again, and success! Had the lemon cheesecake. Overall it was very tasty and definitely worth the IG pic. I do wish the lemon cheesecake flavored ice cream was a bit more intense (it was rather faint). The macaron itself was also good, but a bit flakier than I prefer. We were keen beans and got here a little before opening time to queue and we only waited for about 15 mins! I had a lychee ice cream macaron, which had a beautiful strong flavour. Also it was huge!! You get a lot for your money, I struggled to finish it.
