After my previous review was posted, the office reached out to remedy my unhappy experience/results. I was able to quickly schedule a consult with Dr. Suzuki for the non-incision-Malibotsu procedure. My double eyelid is more prominent now. I originally wanted larger eyelid space, however, the Dr suggested a smaller size so there would be less wrinkles (also it was mentioned that my previous incision scars prevented me from going any bigger). I struggled for a long time with the decision to get a double eyelid procedure. I was scared of getting an incisional surgery, so when I came across the Maibotsu thread technique that Dr. Suzuki uses, it definitely got my attention. Little to no downtime? I'm in! Dr. Suzuki and her staff were all wonderful and kind, and they walked through every step of the process with me so I would feel as comfortable as possible. The day of surgery and the next day, there was some soreness and swelling, but it got better day after day and was minimal after about a week. I'm a little over a month out from the procedure, and I am loving my results! My eyes look bigger and more even, and my confidence has grown tremendously. My eyes were uneven and like many I was in search for a fix, without having to go under the knife. I found Shonan online and was curious. I set up my consultation and decided to do the procedure same day. I flew from NorCal to get the QCW done and went home same day. The procedure itself was painless! I just felt a lot of pressure on the eyes and you have to keep looking down, which they'll help you during the process. Since then my eyes have been a bit swollen, so one of my eyes feel a bit different from the other. I am waiting for the final results which they say is around 3 months to say. For many years my eyelids were uneven - one had a very thin double eyelid, the other was a monolid. This made applying eye makeup a little more difficult and time-consuming. I expressed my concerns to Dr. Suzuki, who did an excellent job in making my eyelids even and very natural looking by using the QCW method. She listened patiently to my concerns and made sure I was happy with the simulated width and length before the procedure. The procedure itself took all but maybe 15-20 minutes. And while I can't say that it wasn't completely painless or uncomfortable despite the use of local anesthesia, it was a fairly quick and seamless process. I have a low pain tolerance but was able to tough it out, and I'm glad I did. For the next several days my eyelids were very swollen and sensitive. But they healed dramatically over the course of 1-2 weeks. I was able to apply makeup within 5 days of the procedure. Friends and family have complimented the results as natural looking and beautiful. While I knew going into the procedure that the double eyelids would not be permanent (they last up to 10 years), I was happy with the convenience of being able to go into a clinic near home instead of flying to South Korea, as well as the very reasonable cost, low recovery time, and minimal scarring. Please consider the pros and cons of the QCW method (as opposed to, say, an incisional method/surgery which produces lifelong results but may involve longer downtime and scarring) before making a decision. For me, I knew QCW was right for me and SBC was the place to go. The staff was also very hospitable and courteous, from check-in and consultation to the pre-surgery prep and aftercare. They were professional but also friendly, which was instrumental in making me feel comfortable. I never once felt like being pushed into anything I was not comfortable with. I highly recommend SBC to anyone who is looking for a relatively quick procedure with short downtime and amazing results. read more

Absolutely ridiculous. They no longer offer hair removal treatment, and I learned it a hard way. Had hair removal treatment for months now, and they always send reminder text a day before the appointment. Didn't receive one so called to find out that they no longer offer the procedure and I'll get a refund for unused treatment. Again, I find this out the day before my appointment that I scheduled back in August. Turns out they knew about in August (so why would they still let me book??) and my name happened to slip out of their contact lists to notify that procedure is no longer available. I drive 1hour to the clinic. Can you imagine what a waste of time it would have been if I went without calling??? And I'm still in the middle of treatment??!?!! No explanation given and I'm incredibly upset, disappointed, and unhappy. read more

After months of speculating, I finally pulled the plug on getting my double eyelids done with Shonan Beauty Clinic and I am very happy with the results! The doctor goes through a simulation with you during your consultation, which is free, and together you decide on what shape and size you'd like to move forward with. I wanted something on the more natural side and I think she did a great job of giving me what I asked for. During the procedure itself, they administer laughing gas, which makes you feel like you've had a couple glasses of wine (this helped a lot), and also local anesthesia to your eyelids. I would not say that the procedure is painful, but you are awake, so did have some anxiety as they were flipping my eyelids over. Post procedure my eyelids were noticeably swollen (one more than the other) and I would say it took a good 2-3 weeks for the swelling to fully settle down. I felt comfortable going outside and seeing people after a week. I did knock off a star because I spent a lot of time waiting during my appointments. I ultimately did two consultations, just to be sure. At my first appointment I arrived on time but was told to take a seat and waited an hour in the waiting room before the doctor saw me for my consultation. I was told she was in surgery, which was the reason for the delay. At my second consultation I received a text message from the office five minutes before my scheduled appointment saying that the doctor would not be in until an hour and a half later -_- I was driving from Los Angeles so I had already arrived at the office at that point. I waited the hour and a half, and then another half hour or so for my consult. I decided to go for the same day procedure and was able to get my double eyelids same day. I was told that I would have to wait to get my procedure because of the schedule backup but put my foot down and was out of there by around 1pm or so for a 9am appointment. All in all, they do a good job with the double eyelid surgery but be prepared for long waits. With the combination of consultation appointments, scheduled and same day surgeries, it really seems like they are booking people back to back and always running late. Also, be sure to read and understand the policies before moving forward especially when it comes to the warranty and additional fees. read more

Medical assistant was not very empathetic nor welcoming in the OR. She didn't go over the procedure or anything and was very impatient with answering any of my questions. The Doctor also didn't walk me through the procedure. MA Kept yelling/commanding me during the procedure rather than being empathetic, reassuring, and reminding me I am doing great and to keep looking down, open my eyes, etc. I'm also a nurse and have experience in the work field. I was nervous for this procedure but did not feel like I was getting any kind of emotional support. I was also nervous and the commanding/yelling was not helping me calm down. I actually had to try and blur her voice out because it was making me more nervous so I started talking to myself (in my head) during the procedure and continued taking in deep breaths. The Doctor was also impatient prior to going into the procedure and when we were going over the choices for the QCW for the second time. No patient should have to feel rushed when this is a surgery that could last 5-10 years. read more

The staff was very nice and they treated me very well. I had the QCW procedure done. I don't think I would have gone through this without them. I was a little unhappy with the treatment I received from Dr.Yoko the first day I made my appointment. I scheduled a consultation and procedure on the same day. I think I caught her at the wrong moment but she seemed a little frustrated when speaking with me and talked over me. I got a little scared to voice my opinions on what I wanted. I also came to my appointment 15 min earlier to prepare for everything. They had me waiting in the consultation room for 45 minutes and I heard her having other consultations over a video call in the room next to me. Made me feel a bit unimportant. The surgical assistant prepped me for surgery. Before the operation, Dr.Yoko went over what shape I wanted again, I was happy with what she showed me. She then said that she will be back after she has another consultation. I was on the table inhaling laughing gas for a good 30 minutes and had a long talk with the surgical assistant until the she said Dr.Yoko is taking too long and dragged her back to do my operation. The pain from the operation was not bad but it's not painless. The operation took ~45 minutes and the assistant said Dr.Yoko had to redo my sutures three times for my right eye and twice for my left because she is a perfectionist. I think this is where the eyes I wanted deviated into something else. My eyes came out uneven and smaller than what was promised. So I came back asking a month later if she can redo them. She said she purposely made it smaller because of my eye epicanthic fold. I understand that, but it would have been nice of her to mention that before she made me go through the operation and it didn't seem like that was the case during the simulation... The 3 year warranty for QCW sounds nice, but there are a couple catches. If you want to fix your uneven eyes, it has to be a 1mm difference. They can't change the shape of your eyes if you are unhappy with the results (parallel to tapered and vice versa), or you need to pay full price. If the sutures come out, you need to pay to get them fixed. Dr.Yoko was nice enough to not charge me the full price to fix them. But there is another catch. They will explain that there will be a $500 charge to fix your eyes, but it's actually $1000 because you need to have 2 sessions. One to take out the sutures and one to fix them. I had very small eyelid folds, where I can't even put on strip lashes without my skin folding over them. After the procedure, it's just a bit wider on the back. I still can't put on strip lashes, which is sad because that's the reason I wanted this procedure in the first place. read more

I got the forever maibotsu done in fall 2021, honest to say it does NOT last forever. I am disappointed that they only give a one year warranty when they advertised that it would last "forever," yet it only lasted a little over a year for me. I got my eyes done bc my lids were often uneven. I opted for the forever maibotsu because I wanted something that lasted long, i was hoping it would last 5 years at most even if it wasn't forever, but it lasted less than two years lol. I really liked how my eyes turned out after the procedure bc the eyelids were prominent and even, but now my eyelids are both hooded and saggy like i never even got the procedure. Seeing how it's falsely advertised to last forever and only given a one year warranty i'm very disappointed. I called a month ago and they said I had to come for a consultation, pay to get it fixed (without disclosing the price) because they use a newer method and the warranty ended. I was debating on it, but i wanted to write this review anyways because I don't think the time frame of the warranty is fair in comparison to the advertised procedure. Think twice before you waste your money. read more

here's my update after i got my sutures removed like i promised i would give. wow i didn't know that the process of getting your sutures removed from the qcw was so painful. it was honestly more painful and uncomfortable than it was when i got my sutures in. i went in to get my sutures removed literally exactly at the 2 months mark because i was told that my eyes were still swollen during my virtual appointments. i was told that if you get your sutures removed too quickly when your eyes are still swollen, there's a higher possibility for bleeding and bruising. so i decided to wait until the 2 month min mark to go back in and get them removed. i guess my eyes healed alot faster than the doctor expected it to because it was hard for her to find my sutures in my left eye. she kept poking around in my eyelid trying to find the sutures and i kept grunting cuz my eyes were getting more swollen as time went on and so the pressure i felt from my eyelid being flipped kept getting worse and worse. they were able to find one but they had to take a break and work on my right eye bc they just couldn't find that last suture in my left eye. i was getting really anxious because i was told that if the doctor couldn't find the sutures from the inside of the eyelid she would have to actually puncture the outside of my eyelids to take them out. when she moved on to the right eye she forgot to tell me that she was going to do the anesthesia on my right eye and went straight into it and i got shocked by the pain. i literally started bawling my eyes out and she was like "omg im sorry that was the anesthesia!" and i was trying so hard to stop moving my chest so much so that she could take the sutures out well. thankfully she was able to take the sutures out of my right eye fairly quickly and moved back to my left eye. after a couple more minutes of struggling she was able to finally take the last suture out of my left eye. it was hard for me to even blink that first day and my eyes felt extremely tender.. even more than when i first got my qcw. after the first day i noticed bruising and blood all around my left eye. it's day 3 now of healing and the swelling did go down a bit but my eyes are still not back to normal yet. i was told to wait at least 3-4 weeks so i'll come on here for an update on how my eyes recovered! it was also interesting because during my consultation before actually getting my sutures removed, dr. suzuki mentioned my yelp review from before. i could tell that she was upset by my review and i tried to tell her that i wasn't trying to offend her or anyone but she cut me off and said "no, i AM upset though. i am." she went on to tell me that her staff and nurses work extremely hard to educate their patients as much as they can and that they do their best to satisfy all their patients and that it sucks that their patients still come out with complaints sometimes. i mentioned that they should include the cost of the operating room and meds when you go back in for any revisions and that i was just being honest about my experience. she said that she would take that into consideration but who know if she actually will. it was really interesting though because i was extremely objective and fair in my review and it seemed like she was still upset by it in the end.... anyway my experience of getting my sutures removed was far from easy and painless :( read more

Referred by a gf who had her Bhleraplasty done. I saw her and thought it look good. They had the model price then and I have been wanting to do mine so I rushed in for my free consultation with Dr Huynh then. I feel comfortable with him and booked the appointment after consultation. The procedure with him was awesome! That alone I would give 5 stars or more. What I didn't like? I find this clinic doing shady, unethical practice. I have been meaning to give my feedback but life happens and my gf reminded me recently. Doctor prescribed 3 types of meds to manage pain and for after care. Serious stuff - oxycodone, one of the 3. Well, after surgery I noticed they didn't give me ALL the meds after I left. My gf picked me up for I was obviously out. I realized once I recovered, the next day that not all my meds were given to me. My gf stayed overnight to take care of me. I called the office and they gave me the run around. Find it super strange that my after care and prescribed meds to ME disappeared. Long story short, and being in the medical field myself, I suspect that either one of their staff has a medical issue, taking it for personal use or the clinic was keeping patient's meds for themselves. I brought it to the attention of the surgeon immediately, and when I went in for my after surgery check up few days later, he brought in the 2 nurses involved and asked them to give me, the patient, her rightful meds back! Guess what, apparently they threw away my containers and only handed me 1 of the 3 oxycodone prescribed. I thought that was a shady practice and because of this, I am hesitant to recommend this place. I also contacted my gf who had this procedure done months earlier, just to make sure that what I experienced was not a rare case. Well, she was shocked I brought that up. She confirmed that they also didn't give her, HER prescribed meds when she had her surgery done! Like me, she had asked and they also gave her some stupid excuse, how they had thrown away the meds after. Doctor Huynh left this clinic weeks after but I got a feeling that he knew something was not right too. I'm sure with the new surgeon, maybe it's changed but I would be very wary about it. If you are going to have a procedure done, please ensure that your meds remain with you at all times! Do not hand them to the nurses. Take whatever you needed then and put back your meds into your bag! Management seriously need to address this matter. read more

Been following Dr Yoko and Shonan for a year and finally got the time to come for the QCW procedure. Was a little nervous during the procedure due to not used to the pressure on the eyelid, forgot to relax the muscle and got a little bruise on the side of the eye that got done first. Then learnt to take long breath and relaxed a little so the second eye was much better, no bruise. Dr yoko and staff was very friendly and patient and kept encouraging me and reminding me to relax during the process. Recovery was fast and most of the swelling went down in a week. I did three treatments of microneedling with PRP (the one where they rub your face with your blood and make you look like American Psycho) and it was a wonderful experience. The needling itself was extremely painful despite the numbing cream applied beforehand, but Sherry was great with the pen, thorough, and fun to talk to during such an uncomfortable experience. Even after one treatment, my face showed massive improvement in texture and unevenness. After three separate treatments 2-3 weeks apart, I can go outside without any foundation!! I used to have such extreme acne (still do sometimes) and deep scarring, and I would say about 80% of that has faded thanks to these treatments. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in acne scar removal - I've pretty much done it all, facials, peels, retinoids, and none were as effective as microneedling with PRP. read more

Wow what an amazing experience ! My skin is absolutely glowing. I heard about this place from a lady at my yoga studio who comes here. She raves about this location so I decided to take a two hour drive north to see for myself. I will definitely be back! The location is clean, lots of parking, plenty of space, and staff was very friendly. I didn't need any numbing for my laser facial. It was quick and painless. I was able to leave the clinic and go straight to dinner. My skin looked and felt amazing. I also got a small amount of Botox injected into my forehead and crows feet. I really liked how Dr Scott took His time strategically mapping out my face for the Botox. He did an amazing job. And that was painless too! These guys really know what they are doing. The days following were still just as great. I had some minor peeling on my chin but it was hardly noticeable. Dr. Riboni, Scott and Diana at Shonan were all-time stellar with their knowledge of all things laser vs photofacial rejuvenation, settings, do's and don'ts and time between treatment. They specialize in regenerative medicine and anti-aging which for an active, outdoor person like me was worth the 2 hour drive north. I Highly recommend. read more
