I've been attending yoga classes at Essential Hot Yoga since 2011. There are several things I tell people about why Essential Yoga is awesome: 1. Facilities - very clean and well maintained. I like that they have shampoo, conditioner, and bodywash in the showers for you. They offer hair dryers as well! The studio is always clean and the patio for cooling off is fantastic. They offer refreshments and cool swag to purchase. 2. I love the environment that each teacher sets. It's a completely non-judgmental environment where I can just practice yoga and not feel like I have to be as good at it as the person on my left. I like that they help you "set your intention" for class. 3. The yoga routine/poses build on one another and there is a good flow. At the beginning of class I might feel a little stiff, but by the end of class I can put my forehead to my knee. Pretty amazing! The instructors know what they're doing and they are SO encouraging. It's pretty awesome to be struggling to hold your bow stance and have the instructor call you by name and say "You've got it, Sarah!" 4. If you're part of their mailing list, you get informed of special deals that they're running which is pretty cool. Hot yoga is more expensive than any gym membership I've seen, but I like that I don't have to think about what I'm doing; I just follow the instructions and give it my best. I love going to Essential Hot Yoga and I recommend it to all my friends, and to you fine people out here on Yelp. ;) read more

Absolutely amazing place that has inspired and grew my love for yoga. I have been practicing there for the past couple of months and have seen changes in my physical, mental, and spiritual health. I don't like giving negative reviews because I know how much heart and soul goes into running a franchise but this studio really disappoints in comparison to other studios I've been to so I'd like to offer some constructive feedback. Instructors should always offer hands on adjustments, corrections and assistance to deepen postures. Maybe it's due to COVID I don't know but the couple of times I've been to class I haven't seen any of that. At best people don't improve, at worst they will hurt themselves without proper guidance. That's what instructors are for! I guess I also just found instructors to be really robotic and uninspiring. No socializing or sense of community at least when I was there. Packages are expensive but the facility isn't very nice for the price. Bikram yoga is hard, you'll sweat and feel good when you're done and the nice smelling cool towels after class are a dream so a few stars for that. I'll give the fitness yoga a try and maybe change my review if there's more there. read more

There is 1 good instructor in the north meridian location, the location is unfriendly, the staff is non existent, the room is cramped, the communication is poor. The moment another hot yoga comes into town with decent customer service this franchise will be out of business. read more

First time at YogaSix and first time experiencing hot yoga. Will was very welcoming as soon as we walked in and walked us through the process. We were able to borrow clean mats and towels. The hot yoga experience was one we will never forget. Will was a great instructor and let us work at our own pace and gave us the confidence to push through as needed. I have been writing this review in my head for weeks. I am SO torn about how to review because I really want to like this place! I have visited several hot yoga studios but have never joined as a member due to not wanting to pay the steep prices. I did visit this studio on their intro deal, $30 for unlimited yoga. I arrived and was told to sign in but given no greeting or even given a tour/told where to put my things. That is usually not a big deal to me since I do have common sense and usually figure that kind of thing out. They did provide spray bottles of essential oil infused water for yoga mats, as well as towels. Both proved to be useful since I sweated my rear off, just as I had wanted, if not more. After the third and fourth session, the classes had seemed to be very similar in poses, even when I varied the time, class style and instructor. Also, the only time the instructor really came out of instructor-mode and veered off their script was when one made a quick side joke about sweat but none of the other yogis seemed to appreciate it. I do enjoy a light heartedness and sense of humor when my body is sweating out of every pore but this group was there for focus. *There is totally nothing wrong with this, hence why I am having a hard time rating here! This being my first studio visit in Boise, I also expected the culture to be similar to what I have experienced elsewhere. And in culture, I mean by what the cool yogis are wearing. I love me some yoga pants but I seemed to be the odd one out. They wear really cool looking sports bras and spandex shorts. I have no body shame but found it hard to basically be in swimming attire, though as I began sweating, I did second guess myself. Maybe they do have the right idea! In summary, this place is awesome for those who want a consistent class and to come in, workout and move on with the day. The classes are a great workout but just was not what I was looking for. Will I go back? Maybe once in a while if they have free classes but for now, I will continue looking for other yoga-abodes. read more

Three reasons this studio receives high stars. 1. They have an outdoor patio for cooling off on. It's amazing at night in the winter. Could change your world or you could hate it. I live for that pain. 2. Their blend of yoga is the perfect balance of challenge but doesn't make you question your sanity midway through the 105° session. 3. I'm no yogini expert but I can always tell when I'm in a room with one. I'm not going to lie, it's annoying and the fake accent rubs me in bad ways. The staff here are nothing of this sort and I feel they're as down to earth and relateable as any sculpted beautiful bodied Goddess could be. Clean bathrooms for the volume of people that go through them. I was impressed they stock the ladies rooms with ALL essentials. It was spa like and there seems to be an unsaid level of respect at this establishment between the members. Everyone is respectful and the staff do a great job killing... On my visit to Middleton ID I found this great Yoga studio. The instructors were very inclusive, instructive and supportive. I found all my favorite movements ie pigeon and bridge where included and the ones I hate but need like balance and abs. The facility was clean and well appointed with many amenities like shampoo, hair ties, shower towels, and blow dryer. I will be back when in town. read more

My body feels a amazing during the work out and I leave there feeling like I can take on my day! I just moved from Detroit, whose chili dogs have made her residents some of America's most unhealthy (http://www.menshealth.com/best-life/best-cities-men?fullpage=true), to Boise, healthiest city in the land. So it wasn't one of my shining moments when I decided my first yoga class in Boise would be a 75-minute session in Sumit's 104°F studio. See, I could do yoga in Michigan. I'd work up just enough sweat to arouse an olfactophile, but I never got exhausted. There, a "Beginners" yoga class was for pudgy 50-year-olds who were as flexible as sidewalk chalk. But yoga is different in Boise. Just 30 minutes into Sumit's "Beginners" class, I felt like I'd been run over by an 18-wheeler after being stranded in the Mojave Desert for two days. Sumit's hot yoga classes will kick your ass with outstanding instructors who challenge students. They maintain a high energy level by incorporating some cardio and playing a soundtrack free of Enya songs. Classes are large, with easily 30 students in the after-work sessions, so register online (convenient!) and arrive early to snag your preferred spot on the floor. And considering how many gallons of sweat I left on their floor, I don't understand how they can keep that studio so clean and smelling of dryer sheets. My reservation about Sumit's, however, is their lack of intimacy. Because the classes are so large, it's difficult - if not impossible - to get personal attention from the instructor to check your form. The size of the studio can also make it difficult to hear your instructor, forcing you to shamefully whip your neck around like a crash test dummy as you try to copycat what everyone around you is doing. And Sumit's classes are so intense that I can't make them my exclusive yoga studio - I'll have to mix in visits to other studios for more low-key vinyasa sessions. NOTE: "Beginners" classes are NOT for yoga novices. You need to be familiar with basic poses (downward dog, warrior 1-2, humble warrior, triangle, tree) and be in decent shape. It's a great studio for the yogi's who like a good sweat and workout (think cross fit for yoga) if you are interested in a little adventure I would say give it a try but if you are in to restorative or yin yoga and you hate sweating then you'll probably have a hard time in this class. I prefer the 60 minute classes over the 80 minutes just because I like the in and out and on with my day. I do like that they added a sculpt class because once you've got the practice down its easy for your mind to wander from your mat - do not come dehydrated as you will get sick and don't eat a heavy meal before - leave your ego at home and just have a good time - bring your own mat and large towel to cover you mat. read more

Visiting yogi from San Diego, dropped in to take a beginners 60 class. Love the studio, awesome instructor! Classes are HOT....that's why they call it "hot yoga." Class was challenging, but definitely intermediate, don't take this class if you're not confident in basic postures and inversions. I'm a pretty experienced yogi and it kicked my butt, but that's why I do yoga! :-) thanks Donna! Also the monthly membership is an awesome deal, I'd sign up if I lived here. read more

As for Hot Yoga this place is great. I wish the atmosphere was a bit friendlier and a charge to borrow a mat is little ridiculous in my book. Having traveled I did not have my yoga mat with me and did not expect that there would have been a charge, or I would have borrowed a friends. $19 ($2 mat charge) is just a little steep for a drop-in class. I thought the teacher was going to murder me for being a couple minutes late. Cut me some slack, I am not from this city and locating the studio in a strip mall is confusing. I will say, being late is never cool but you don't know the individuals story and we already feel bad enough for being late. What was I to do, turn around and say fuck it I am 2 minutes late it won't be worth it? Nonetheless, it was a great work-out. They should update their Yelp page so people know what to look for when rolling up. read more

I was incredibly reluctant to try hot yoga at all. The thought of being in a room of sweating/stinky humans was not appealing in any way to me. In spite of these obvious detractors I bought a Groupon for Sumits Yoga because of the encouragement of a friend, and also due to my realization that I needed to move a lot more. Still, I hesitated for months before trying it. Instead, I eased my way in through the Yin classes they have on Sundays. I fell in love with the use of essential oils, the dim lighting, and the incredibly warm staff. Finally, after losing some weight through diet I got the confidence/tolerance I needed to try hot yoga. The first time was really awful. I cannot tell a lie. My face was bright red, I was sweating excessively, and I spent most of my time recovering in child pose. I stuck with it though, and now shockingly I am a hot yoga addict. I don't entirely buy the whole "sweat is a detoxifying process" thang but I love how it loosens up my joints. It is also really pleasant to be in a hot room during winter even if it is 105 degrees. The real thing that keeps me coming back is the amazing staff. I have Groupons at several other yoga places in town, and this place has the best group of instructors! They are exactly the kind of calm/friendly/warm women you want guiding you through your practice. read more

I would give the work out a 4 but the owner and some of the employees a one. Yoga is a gift it isn't for profit. The thing with yoga is there are so many styles, it took me a lot of learning and a lot of classes to find out the best fit for me. I have been to fake yoga classes to legit yoga classes and it is definitely a journey. This place left a sour spot in my mouth because I felt judged when I asked the owner about the teacher training, then they wouldn't take a groupon I paid for and couldn't use because my dad was in the hospital. I was a pt working college student financially taking care of my sick father at that time. All I needed was to take a yoga class. I paid $35.00 for the groupon. There was no compassion and I knew after the first incident they were just profit. That isn't a way to conduct good business. If it weren't for that I would be spending too much money there. My wallet thanks me. I now practice yoga in my house and I am doing a different teacher training. This is just what I interpret as a "Hollywood fitness class" for profit. They don't help with poses and you go unlearning. If you really want to learn, I recommend doing yoga on your own if you want to learn it. Then adding a yoga fitness class into your regimen. You can really hurt yourself in these types of classes if you don't have a solid foundation of yoga and do the poses wrong. Its not that these instructors intentionally don't help you, the classes are so packed they cant focus on each individual. I would say try it, it is a really good class. but this place really should consider lowering their prices and work on treating each person as an individual. Each person is on their own journey to health and they gain strength by just walking into something unfamiliar. read more
