They help everyone as they walk up and down to make sure you're in the correct positions and check-in to make sure you're still alive! They make it fun! There are mostly women that attend but a few men as well, from time to time. There are women of all ages and sizes! It's all at your own personal pace and it's not a race! The tv monitors tell you what to do next and for how long, and toward the end, there is a count down on the screen. And yes, I'm always watching that count down to get it over with! I feel as though it's now a community of supportive women! They all chat and have made connections even outside of SP! It's really nice to see! Dallyn and Pam are my usual instructors based on my schedule and they're amazing! I have neuropathy and fused bones in my feet that limit me to some exercises and they already know what exercise to do in its place for my safety and benefit of the workout! Even when the class is at max capacity, they're there to help guide and motivate! I love the times of the classes too, as I feel they're thoughtful for those that want to workout before work, at lunch break, after work or even after the kids have eaten and gone to bed! Sometimes I'm the only one in a 6:15PM class and sometimes it's full. You just never know! Either way, it's motivating and a QUICK 45min non-stop workout on the reformers. There is an app where you can purchase class passes and book classes or easily cancel 24hrs in advance to not lose the class pass. The app is nice and easy and has never glitched! I pay about $240 for a 10 class pass and you do have to use them within 3-months. My goal is mainly to go once a week, but I do travel a lot and have missed a month between classes but this has been good for me to get out of my little apartment and do something for myself! And that makes me smile! If you're thinking about it or think you can't do it, trust me, YOU CAN! If I can, so can you!

The slide isn't always staffed, but when it is, it's super fun... even as a grown up :-) They have a rock wall, track for walking/running, and offer fitness classes. My mom likes doing the circuit of machines up in the weight lifting area. There's lots of cardio equipment. I usually prefer the free weights and non-circuit resistance machines for my workouts, and I've found everything I needed at this YMCA. Staff and members are all friendly, and I've never felt uncomfortable working out here. Sometimes you end up weighting for weights or machines, especially during peak times, but that's pretty much how it goes at any gym. Membership is $50/month for one person, or I believe $80/month for two, so a bit of savings. Considering everything you have access to with a membership, it's honestly not a bad deal. I have paid as much or more for gyms with way fewer amenities, let alone for a yoga or pilates studio. Definitely a good option.

I will say it is a bit pricey, but they have financial assistance for people who are needing it, and when I lost my job we paid based on how much we made so cost doesn't have to be a factor preventing you from going to an inclusive community center for all ages. The YMCA in West Boise offers a great experience for any newcomer to the gym or long time veterans who are just coming in to work out.

I started going a few weeks ago and once I learned the machines I really started liking it more. This location is also great at getting back to you right away. I had some questions about logistics, times, etc and the owner, Mark, sent me messages right away so I could make an informed decision. I highly recommend Curves!

I have had the absolute most frustrating experience with curves and the owner Mark…read more 3 weeks after my best friend and I signed a year contract with curves I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. I underwent a double mastectomy, hysterectomy and 6 months of aggressive chemotherapy. The amount of understanding from this establishment was zero. They did put my membership on hold during treatment provided I sent a doctors letter every couple months. The first letter from my oncologist said I would not be able to work out indefinitely. At that point we didn't know if I'd ever work out again!! Mark was not satisfied with that. If I wanted the payments to stop coming out of my account I needed to provide multiple letters. Ughhhh. The last thing I was worried about was my gym membership. What. A. Pain. Then.. I started getting healthier and another gym in the area heard my story and offered me a free membership for 3 months and assistance to continue after the 3 months. What a great place that supports women! I was so grateful! So... I emailed Mark to cancel my membership at curves ... he said to cancel I would need to pay some fees .. totaling close to $400!!! Unbelievable. I had bills for days .. I didn't have the money to get out of the contract. I asked for grace. He said no. So... I have been paying my monthly payment every month.. even tho I'm not using the facility. There was no grace or understanding for the horrible 19 months I have been through. The final straw was This week when I emailed and said.. I have made 12 payments. A years worth of payments, please don't take anymore money out of my account- I fulfilled the contract. His response - thank you for your 30 days notice - you will he charged one more month and then will cancel. Ughhhh! Gotta squeeze one more payment out of me right?? I have felt completely uncared for from this women's only facility. You would think that a women's only facility would have at least a little grace and understanding for breast cancer patients. Nope. All bout the money. I hope the facility has enjoyed the extra $400 they squeezed out of me while I was trying to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills. Thank goodness for the other gym in town who has shown me grace while I'm still in my "contract" with curves. You better hope when you sign your year contract you don't have any extenuating circumstances out of your control that change your life forever during that year..."a contract is a contract" in the words of Mark.
