Post business response:
I appreciate your response and the funds from those classes were refunded. I did not fail to report my children's ages at any time, additionally, there were other children under the age of 8 who were present in the classes that I attended. I appreciate the attempt to make it appear that I had been dishonest or failed to disclose anything. In addition to the fact that I answered when asked, my girls are also happy to announce their age at any time - as they did when the older lady dismissed us from the premises.
My complaint was two part, on the mind body app, there was no information on age (hence other children who were also present). Additionally, when I enrolled my children, there was no stop gap. I didn't dig deeper to other pages, all I did was choose classes through the schedule site and pay for the classes. Nothing asked for age, or at that time indicated that there was a minimum WHEN REGISTERING for the class.
My second and largest issue was how my girls and I were treated, or neglected when we arrived. Customer service is key, I was offered to leave my kids alone or "go." "Go" meaning get out. There was little effort to try to address the contradiction of the Yoga Power policy. My kids were looked at as though they were dirty and I was treated as though my patronage did not matter to this business. I have always supported local business and send my friends and family to locations. Very rarely do I feel compelled to address when I am treated poorly, and really it was due more to my children than me. In that moment, we were dismissed and treated as though our patronage was meaningless. I left with crying children who asked why we were kicked out.
It is my hope that this business will take to heart that how you treat patrons matters, even when delivering negative news. Further, you do not treat patrons, especially minority patrons, like second class citizens. Additionally, a business should not blame their poor treatment of someone on the patron. No scene was created by me or my daughters. Neither my children nor I were in any way rude to your employee. We were not given the same courtesy. We just stood and waited for her to return from the long phone call and then were asked to leave.
I do not know whether I will patronize your business again, and I will not discourage my daughters should they want to attend something there. But I hope that the lesson is learned that a business should own their issues, Yoga Power's misstep was not only the first young lady who allowed my girls to attend, it also included how we were treated by the older lady as we were dismissed from the property. The single star should be accepted based upon the entire treatment as a whole, not just for the failure of the first girl to say something about an age limit. I only brought my children because other kids their age were at the class that I have taken. Practice can also be a policy, be careful of that, legally speaking. read more
