As someone who easily gets intimidated by commercial gyms and weight lifting, I sought out a way to…read moreprioritize fitness and strength training in a more personalized way-- that's how I found Method Fitness. Jack Hammond and I regularly met throughout the week for 60-minute training sessions. I can't emphasize this enough-- his enthusiasm, encouragement, and overall knowledge about training undoubtably helped me achieve my goals. Not only did he constantly challenge and push me to improve and train harder; but he did so with a positive attitude. Obviously just by looking at Jack, you'll be able to tell he knows a thing or two about fitness and lifting (the guy is ~~ripped~~), but what sets Jack apart from the other "bro-science" personal trainers, is that he is ACE-certified, has a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, and also has experience with college athletics. His overall understanding about fitness is all backed by his years of experience + knowledge about science-based explanations ... now I don't know about you, but I don't think I could have asked for a more qualified trainer. Due to personal obligations and a career change, I'm no longer able to train at Method as regularly. The good news is that I'll always be able to keep the lessons I've been taught on proper form, correct movements, acceptable adjustments, and lastly-- my higher and improved self-esteem.

I love Method's take on fitness: they recognize that everyone has a different fitness journey, that fitness goals vary, and that getting healthy is a process. By working with Adam and Nigel, I've learned that changing my body composition and dietary discipline has to be habitual, and that success is related to consistency. They've also taught me there is no magic pill, no fantasy workout, no fancy sweatmore sweatpants that are gonna burn my fat, lift my butt, and sculpt my arms; only my hard work will achieve those things. And that the hard work is WAY worth it. With Adam and Nigel's guidance, my weekly workouts have progressed hugely over time. I've dropped weight, changed my body composition, increased my cardio capability, and am strong as hell. Worried about Method being way too bro-tastic for your tastes? No worries there. Amahl, the owner, does an incredible job curating a team of trainers that is dedicated to a healthful lifestyle and are super fit themselves, but somehow lack the macho-man-cool-story-bro gene. Worried about Method not being hardcore enough for you? No worries there, either. These trainers are SERIOUS. I see some of the trainers' personal workouts while I'm coming and going in the space - and their strength, ability, stamina, and discipline AMAZE me. Super inspirational. Couple other plusses: the space is clean and beautiful, parking is easy peasy, there are always fresh towels to wipe your brow, and spring water is provided to quench your thirst. In short, integrating Method into your fitness routine is nothing but a good thing. You'll get where you want to go faster, with better knowledge, and with great guidance.

He knows what he's doing and he's constantly paying attention to proper form and to how to up the ante on my strength goals. I've also started getting deep tissue massages with Jay Moran for a long-term shoulder issue that was impeding my strength training. Again, Jay is professional and kind and has helped me gain increased mobility in just a few weeks. I don't know the other trainers as well, but the ones I've seen around the gym are always nice and seem to love what they do. Body Soul is the BOMB!

I know very little about anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, sports conditioning,…read moreexercise science or physical education. What I do know is that it feels good when I move my body in a healthy way. And there is no better place to do that than at Body Soul Personal Training. Eddie Fleury has been my Body Soul personal trainer since February, and it helps to have someone in my corner. I wasn't sure I'd like having a personal trainer. It seemed like a luxury, and I often wondered if I could afford it, if I was worth it, or if I'd see any progress. Today I can say without a doubt that this is the best gift I could have given to myself. I have developed an incredible rapport and trust with Eddie. We work as a team. Each session, Eddie gently adds something new to increase the duration or intensity. So gradually I am building upon what I did the week before. He calls them "progressions." The empirical data show that I have lost weight, inches and body fat; I have gained strength, endurance and flexibility. What is critical, however, is that I have gained more confidence, which cannot be measured with scales and charts. My skin is glowing, my clothes fit better, I am standing taller and I am setting a good example for my family. I am at peace with my body, my age, my abilities, my strengths and my life. Becoming the best version of myself: Strong. Confident. Secure. Powerful. Hopeful. Satisfied. Blessed. Here's to feeling healthy, staying fit and loving life! Here's to Body Soul!

She is a career dancer, so it's not like other places where a fitness instructor just takes a few certification classes. Because of her experience, she is great at explaining how to move and hold your body and how to correct your form. With a maximum class size of 5 - 6, you will have as close to personal training as you can get. The space itself is also top notch. The whole gym has a luxe feel and the studio is small but airy and bright. Between the nice facilities and unique classes, they offer a lot that you won't find anywhere else.

To be…read morehonest, I'm not sure it's something they actively seek clients for, but since I live a block away and work from home it worked out well. I can tell this gym is focused on personal training and from the reviews looks like 5 stars there as well. But back to the part-time membership - worth every penny. Because they are a personal training gym, we usually always had the place to ourselves which I ended up really, really liking. When I was in fantastic shape, going to the regular gym was nothing, but when you've got some extra pounds to shed, having a nearly private space was amazing. I was concerned that because it was a personal training gym a trainer would eventually come up and try to sell me on some sessions, but that didn't happen. Unlike larger gyms I've been to! Also because they are personal training, you have just about every piece of free-weight/aerobic equipment that you could want, along with several machines - again at your disposal, no worrying about waiting for them. They also offer classes that look fun. Finally you CANNOT, I repeat cannot beat the atmosphere here. It is really cool inside, extremely clean, set-up well (2 floors), modern and the staff/owners are so friendly and pretty much mind their clients and not your presence. In conclusion, the weekday membership is not for everyone, but if you can swing it, it's worth it!

An LLC for Herbalife Nutrition, New Life is one of the original nutrition clubs in the area. There are many sprouting up around the southcoast in MA and RI, but this is one of the few that also offers free fit-camps and other low cost fitness classes for all levels. The nutrition club specializes in gourmet smoothies that are 200 calories or under, while providing a minimum of 24 grams of protein and an abundance of vitamins, minerals and nutrients to constitute as a full meal! The hot or iced metabolism boosting teas are fantastic and delicious while providing energy without the crash!! They also provide homemade protein treats, snacks and even pies during certain times of the year to keep you on track with your goals. You do not need to join Herbalife in order to visit here. This is a great family and community at New Life Nutrition and are welcoming to everyone who comes through the door. They also take credit cards and have the five star program so you can earn points for every visit!

They taste just like a jello pie. Jello pie for dinner, cheers! I like that this is a busy place too. Sometimes it's super awkward to walk into a shake shop and be the only person in there, so then you have to make awkward conversation with the person on the bar. Not here! They also don't try to hard sell you. The most they will ask is, "would you like a free wellness eval today?". You can say "no thank you," and they will leave you alone. Weirdly enough, this is the #1 reason why I keep coming back for shakes here!

I contacted them again directly through email over a week later and finally was contacted...by none other than the owner Aaron Atwood. He was relatively rude via email, but myself and my girlfriend both decided to go in to interview them and go through their consultation process. When we arrived, on time, for our consultation, we were kept waiting for over 20 minutes because he overlapped his training of some old woman with our consultation. While we looked around the lobby, there was a variety of turn offs immediately present. The decor was terrible. The ceiling was painted metallic silver, the carpet smelled, and the layout was cramped. The music was awful. Not a good start. We finally met Aaron, an abrasive young man, who we later found out owned the place. We got a 3 minute tour of the facility. The facility consisted of 3 "private" studios, otherwise known as cluttered cubby holes packed with crappy equipment. He said they were all alike, but I noticed distinct differences in the equipment in the blur of a tour we received. Trying to keep an open mind I thought, well equipment isn't what we are here for, it's the trainer. We go into the office, sit down, and Aaron the owner immediately tries to get us to fill out paperwork. We pretty much laughed at him and asked him to hold on a bit. Then he inundated us with obnoxious questions and responses, and basically belittled us for not already being in top shape. Ironically, the man himself had love handles that were visible through the two shirts he was wearing. Overall, he was one of the most irritating and grating people I have ever met, and he's supposed to be a motivator? I don't think so. Lets talk about clientele. The place is full of old women. That's it. There is nothing else to it. It might as well be called Curves. If you're serious about getting a trainer, check out Method. Way better. I think it's only fair that I leave you with an example of the lack of professionalism that was overwhelmingly present during our "consultation". On the whiteboard directly across from the interviewing table was a shopping list. Goo Gone and Tampons. Yep, tampons. Nothing says personal training like tampons and goo gone. If you go here, you're making a grave mistake. I'd give it negative stars if I could. Don't waste your time or your money.. Update: My girlfriend reminded me that he wouldn't make an appointment via email and that he was horrible and rude on the phone, and he tried to grill her to see if she was even worth the time of a consultation. He made her painfully aware that we might not "fit" into their program, which quickly became even more offensive when we were able to see their clientele.
