Some of our standout faves were the kabrit and the griot poutine. The diri djon djon is also a must!! Definitely check this place out if you're interested in trying Haitian cuisine and are in the Montreal area.

We wanted to make sure we experienced the best food this city had to offer and after doing an extensive social media search, I found this small, off-the-beaten path eatery in the St. Henri neighborhood of Montreal. What a great choice!! We arrived right on time for our 7pm reservation and the place was already packed. We were immediately seated and took in the electric vibe, bangin' music and cool-ass artwork. The smells emanating from the kitchen had us ready to pig out...and that we did! Everything on the menu looked so good we had trouble deciding what to order, but we finally ordered the plantain chips, mango wings, slow-cooked goat, fried shrimp and black rice. We tore all that food up and got an extra order of the shrimp. Our servers were friendly and funny and got a chance to meet the owner the owner and he even bought us a round of shots! He told us he was opening a bigger place later this summer! Wish I could go back for that! Pikliz was definitely the food highlight of our trip and we can't stop talking about it. If I ever go back to Montreal, I'm running to Pikliz!

I stopped the car and hopped in t osee what they had. Goat curry and chicken roti were both on the menu, so I asked about goat roti and was told the chef could make one for me. It was amazingly flavourful and maybe the best I've had in Montreal in a long time. The patties were also flaky and perfectly spiced, but I don't know if they're homemade or brought in from elsewhere. The menu covered all the Jamaican bases and there was a small bar area, too. If I'm connecting the dots correctly, the owner and chef Andrea Rhoden had been offering her delicious cooking as a catering service out of LaSalle for years before opening Bigga Taste in N.D.G. It is a welcome addition to the hood and I hope it does well. They apparently also offer delivery through UberEats, but Uber is such a foul company I refuse to use them or let their crappy apps anywhere near my data or dollars. Maybe your moral compass points another way, though! Anyway, it's always nicer to go in and meet the people making your meal. If you're craving Jamaican food, give Bigga Tasta a shot. If the rest of the menu is as good as the roti was, you won't be disappointed.
