Small and cozy restaurant was great service. The music and the vibe was good. I quite enjoyed the wings and the guac with plantains. The shrimp was tasty and I highly recommend that as well. The fried plantain side was a different taste in texture, but the rice and beans were flavorful with the chicken broth. They were nice enough to give us a sample tasting of some beverages in a shot. There is street parking. Overall it was good experience and I definitely recommend and I hope that you do as well.

Mwen renmen li!! ("I love it!!" in Haitian Creole) We took a chance on being seated as walk-ins on an unseasonably warm Saturday evening in October. It paid off! We were the second party to arrive within 30 minutes of them opening and were seated almost immediately. The host told us there were a few reservations that evening, but she could seat us if we would be finished in an hour. I appreciated that she offered us a table and was clear about how much time we had... if we wanted to stay. We browsed the menu online beforehand, but seeing what other guests had on their plates helped us decide on our meals. We had fried shrimp with rice x peas, grilled chicken with rice x peas, spicy wings, and their signature poutine with goat. We cleaned our plates in no time and washed them down with great cocktails. The decor is charming and there's a fun(ny) employee poster behind the counter. The prices were very reasonable for the food quality and service.

Such a delicious spot for Haitian food! They had a smaller menu but everything on the menu looked incredible. It was really hard to choose only a few dishes, so I'll have to go back soon! We ended up ordering plantains and guacamole, the Haitian patties (in both cod and beef), the griot plate with makawoni and riz collé, and as part of a YES Perk, we got a Pikliz Poutine. The restaurant itself was really cute and had great decor and music. There's not a lot of places to sit. There's parking street parking around but not directly in front of the restaurant. If you have mobility issues, the doors also didn't look like they were accessible (and had an additional step up). Since this is a COVID time review, I was there for takeout. Service was fantastic. They let me take my time in deciding and if I had any questions, they welcomed the questions. They also took the time to explain the sauces that same with the food. Considering I ordered quite a bit, I didn't wait too long either! The food itself: when we finally got home to try it, our car was smelling INCREDIBLE! I was so excited since I LOVE Haitian food. Everything was still hot when we got home, and we dug in straight away. Everything was delicious and there were so many different textures and tastes for the food. It's hard to choose a favourite when you love everything! I really liked their pikliz: spicy and acidic, so yummy and goes perfectly with the rest of the food (especially the poutine!) I can't wait to go back to try the rest of the dishes!

After many, many attempts over the span of two years to visit @pikliz we finally made it! It was definitely worth the wait as we got to sample their newly created cocktail menu. Decorated with alluring colours, big plants/vines, interesting paintings and a whole bunch of personal pictures that give it that extra warm, welcoming and genuine vibe. The same energy radiates from the owners, who upon meeting, you'll feel like you've known for years. Rooted in influences passed down by family (say it with the Vin Diesel voice) every dish is  meticulously created and thought out in detail. It's clear their goal is to show us the full beauty of their cuisine. We tried a lot and all of it was wonderful.  Exquisitely cooked, tender, juicy meat, delcious crispy shrimp, even crisper plantain chips... It goes on. We can't really explain in writing how much we enjoyed ourselves but we strongly encourage you to go and see for yourselves.

    Pikliz poutine

Delicious food and friendly service. I tried the pikliz poutine, the bannann pezé and the beef and fish pâtés. They were all very good and flavorful. The griot on the poutine was very tender. The plantains were crunchy on the outside and the sauce that came with it was delicious. The staff was nice and friendly and the service was quick. Would definitely come back.

I had a wonderful evening in this restaurant yesterday with my two friends. I first came across this restaurant through poutineweek and was finally able to come here after putting it on my list of restaurants to try. The menu is easy to understand, and the food is great : we all liked our dishes. The riz colé lacked a bit of flavor, but the griot was good. The manager with green hair saw that we were struggling with choosing our dishes and didn't hesitate to recommend her favorites to us : she was very outspoken, friendly and cool. Will definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again.

To the best of my knowledge, the name 'pikliz' might be a direct translation from 'pickle' SOMETHING. It is, in fact, Haitian style pickled cabbage. And the pikliz here packs the right amount of heat and complements every other dining elements very well. I recommend adding a side of pikliz if it doesn't come with your order. I dropped by Pikliz within their first week of opening and tried their griot (fried pork) and kalalou (okra). I thought the okra was delicious (4.5/5), but the griyo was rather bland and dry (3/5). In terms of flavours, the chefs paired the griyo plate with different sauces (see photo) and the flavours DID pair, but it wasn't enough, in my opinion, to save it from the tough filament like texture of dried pork. I also ordered a beef patty (4/5). It was flaky and homey, but could use more filling. Overall, the one thing that makes me remember Pikliz was -- the pikliz. It did a good job adding dimension to the fried pork and I feel like it could bring any food to life.

Our flavoured water for which we paid $16 dlls!

My wife and I wanted to try "real" Haitian food and decide to visit this little place. We arrived at 6:30 pm and the place was packed and loud. No one greeted us and after waiting a few minutes I asked a waiter how long it'll take to get us a table. She said she didn't know and didn't have a waiting list. We asked if we could seat outside and she said yes. After waiting another 10 minutes without even bothering to serve us water I went back inside and asked for the menu. I was pointed to a QR code in a window. We waited again for someone to take our order in vain so I got up again and asked an other waiter if he could take it which he did. After a few minutes he brought our drinks (Jamaican flavoured water with no alcohol since we don't drink), which was no more than a mix of syrup with water and ice in a cardboard cup. 20 minutes later our waiter came out and I asked her about our food. She said she would look into it. Another 10 minutes passed and I went inside to ask again. The waiter went to the kitchen and came back asking me to order again since the kitchen didn't have it. I asked her to cancel it and for the check. She charged $16 dlls just for our drinks!!! I was sure it was a mistake and told her so. She just smiled and said that there was no mistake!! Didn't even apologized!! If you decide to try this place make sure you ask for an inside table and prices for whatever you ask for. And be prepared to wait over an hour to be served if at all!

we stopped by pikliz for a quick lunch after being recommended it by max from maison cloakroom. we had to stop by quickly before heading out to the airport. the owner was so kind and helped us pick what to get and what portion sizes since we weren't really sure on how much to order; we ended up choosing the goat poutine (small), the special of sweet and spicy shrimp, and the fried cassava. both mine and my friend's favorite was the cassava sticks. they were very evenly coated and fried really well, like very crispy and seasoned well too. he served them with aioli topped with pikliz the pikliz were so fresh and spicy. the shrimp were really delicious too, and the goat poutine was a nice little fusion of haitian and canadian... we've been noticing every place sells poutine here haha but the goat poutine really hit the spot. the owner also recommended the banana beignets soooo good. strongly recommend, the banana was not overpowering and they were super crispy. a little thick still crispy and fluffy. definitely worth checking out and a lovely way to end the girls trip/our time in montreal, thank you pikliz

Haitian food? Yes, please!! Loved their guac and fried pressed plantain chips. Their wangs are yammy and griyo is very filling. The service is great too! The place is literally next to the metro station so if you are traveling from another neighbourhood, your food will stay warm. Definitely recommend!
