We had traveled 6 hours by the time we decided we needed to eat. yes the interior evokes "Thunder Mountain" look where you are at! 1920's rustic cabin IS the aesthetic! You are here for the food We were blown away! Every way you would order a steak they had. The "steak burger" i thought was a great option for those with kids or picky eaters. 1) A solid edible steak that was cooked the way I ordered it. 2) Well portioned sides that tasted like they were supposed to. 3) Friendly helpful staff that didn't hound you when you ate and were prompt with ordering. I live in Vegas. I travel outside of the country. This is place is a rock solid outpost in the remote part of America that delivers a respectable steak dinner at a reasonable price leaving you full and with leftovers. I don't know where other people's expectations are at but for getting your monies worth at a steakhouse this place won't let you down. I am keeping this "family friendly": I feel that other low star reviews lack a substantive description of their less than positive experience. LOOK AT YOUR BILL! Very small place. Paid $32 for a 12 ounce steak that had very little flavor at all. I had to drown my steak and A1 sauce because it was so bland. In fact, all of their food had no flavor at all. Seems like the cook is afraid of spices. Overly expensive place for not very good quality food. And pay close attention to your bill. They have some charge on there called subtotal that is about 12% of the bill. It's a charge that comes from nowhere. When I asked about it, I was told it was gratuity. I went ahead and let them take that as the tip Since they took it upon themselves to tip themselves. I usually tip 20%, I didn't feel they deserved it. 4 of us came in for late lunch and we got seated right away. Service was crappy. Very long wait for the food to be cooked/prepared (about 30mins) although there were not much customers eating. The dude server was very, very rude with no manners. Ordered medium well fillet mignon and got a very well done steak. Not any pink color in the center of the meat and the outside was burnt. Brought it up to the attention of the server but he insisted it was "medium well". didn't give us any option and just walked away. Flavor was ok although meat was dry (of course, it was well done ). Located right outside the Grand Canyon National Park, my girlfriends and I were craving steak so we stopped by this steak house. Each entree comes with a nice serving of 4 sides!! These include salad, cornbread, beans, and baked potato. The salad, cornbread, and baked potato were simple, but good. Beans seemed as if they were just poured out of a can though. I ordered the half rack rib and steak combo. The bbq ribs were okay. The steak was low grade- not good- I took 2 bites and couldn't keep eating it. Giving this place one star mainly because there was no social distancing at all and the restaurant is not clean. The bathroom was filthy and after people were done with their meal the waitress was cleaning the tables with a dirty rag and no cleaning solution. I couldn't even finish my meal and became concerned about the cleanliness of the kitchen after what I saw in the dining area. Sooooo......... our trip was almost two weeks ago and I still remember how unmemorable this place was. I rarely like to give such low reviews, but this restaurant was an awful experience. I'll start with the restaurant itself - dimly lit, which normally isn't bad, but there was literally no music playing, very confusing seating arrangements (tables everywhere, but a door in the back where you could gain access to the bar, which was extremely unclear until we asked), and staff that very clearly did not want to be there. This was a really disappointing way to end our glorious day hiking. Oh and back to the bar in the back - the seats were saddles, how is anyone supposed to sit on a saddle while drinking a beer? I looked and felt ridiculous for the ten seconds I sat on it. The food was okay. Seriously nothing special, I got a veggie burger which was dry and flavorless. This is what happens when you have a captive audience. I would imagine that most of their diners are people exiting the Grand Canyon park who are tired and hungry so they grab the first place they see. We ordered three dishes, and two of them were from the kids menu. These dishes totaled over $80. Let that sink in for a minute. I ordered a 16 ounce steak that I shared with my wife. Of that 16 ounces, I'm guessing 5 ounces were bone and 8 ounces were grizzle and fat. That leave a grand total of around 3 ounces of steak. Trust me, not a single ounce was any typle of flavoring. My wife commented that it tasted like they injected water into it, that's how dull it was. Add this to the fact that we asked for, but never recieved, butter for the potato and steak sauce for that worthless chunk of meat. If you're going to the Grand Canyon, do yourself a flavor and pack a picnic. Or you could bring a few pieces of styrofoam to chew on while you throw a $100 bill into the canyon to get the experience of the ol' Yippee-ei-o. read more

First off... be aware that they will automatically include a 15% gratuity no matter the size of your party (it was 2 only of us). Also somewhat sneaky about. There's a reason there's an hour wait at the other steak houses, and only a 10 minute wait here. The staff was very friendly, but the restaurant probably hasn't been updated in 20 years. The cornbread and salad were good. However, my husband and I ordered "the wrangler" which is a sirloin steak. We didn't notice it said "ground sirloin" so we were pretty shocked when they delivered an over cooked hamburger patty. Why is that even an option? I couldn't eat more than 2 bites. $25 for a freaking hamburger patty. So deceiving and gross. We were also seated by a window and were freezing the whole time (in September). The waiter was very friendly and I guess nicer to me since I was all by myself. Even offered to be my dining companion. Ha! That didn't happen of course. I got the rattle snake for appetizer and the filet minon for main entree. The rattlesnake was a huge ripped off. Absolutely nothing to rave about, yet, over $10 for 4 tiny pieces of fried rattlesnake, supposedly. Then the main entree was an even bigger disappointment. The steak was cooked to order, but had no seasoning whatsoever. The baked potato and beans were both horrendously bland and tasteless. If that wasn't bad enough, I just now found out that the tip was already included. This is what I call "cowboy restaurant". Almost like in old movies. You come in and park your saddle at the entrance, when seated they ask "what do you want?" and that's it. I didn't like that they don't have beer on tap, although they had good bottled local beer. Five star is for food! We had a steak, beans and corn on the cob!!! I just finished horseback riding and with this meal my cowboy experience was fulfilled!!! This is not upscale restaurant so please don't expect something they don't offer! There's no choice of sides, the cook (certainly can't call this person a chef) can't fry zucchini or mushrooms without burning them to a crisp, has no idea what a medium steak looks like and the fried shrimp is coconut shrimp served with cocktail sauce. Hubby requested sugar for his tea 4 times before actually getting it. I requested lemon with my drink and had to steal his out of his tea, the lemon had a tinge of onion flavor. We are locals from the Grand Canyon and wanted to take visiting family for a nice meal out. First time here. Waitress was rude. Missed half of our side orders were had to keep asking for things she forgot ( potatoe, beans, corn that all come with the meal). After a nice visit to GC, we were really starving once we finished the visit. This was the first restaurant that we saw where we could get a good steak with table service. Worth to mention that since you don't have good cell coverage in this area, you can hardly rely on Yelp to pick you choices. Then my network connection improved and I was able to find this place (initially it only showed other steakhouses, but this one). When I saw 2 stars and the reviews, I was getting ready for the worst. Well, let me tell you that we had a good experience and that sometimes people who are used to high service levels in big cities, may come with this same benchmark and try to compare to a small town place. I was not disappointed with their service. They were very attentive and asking if we needed anything all the time. Also we came around 4pm...there were 7 tables with people, so not really packed at this tome. The steak was good and to the point we ordered...the potatoes were great and corn was delicious. The salad came in a plate to share along with 3 cornbreads. The baked beans were sweet to my taste but not with a good flavor (probably the only dish I did not enjoy). Other than that, food was ready in a decent time and with good flavor. My kid ordered spaghetti and it was a huge portion! Then we ordered an apple pie with ice cream and it was also very good! If you want more of a commercial flavor this is not your place. If you like more of a homemade type of flavor, you will enjoy. It came with a salad, which was a pile of head lettuce, a few slices of red onion, one (ONE!) cherry tomato, all drowning in ranch dressing. The meal also came with beans (bland), a baked potato (plain but they sent sour cream and butter), an overcooked ear of corn, and a slice of cornbread that was sweet but only a 2-bite size. As for the shosh-kabob, the veggies (onion and green pepper) were charred and flavorless, and the steak, though cooked properly, was tough. And it's insanely expensive. $20+ appetizers and all they are is breading. We ordered the rattlesnake and it was so over breaded it tasted like old oil wrapped in half a loaf of bread. The chicken tasted exactly like how my mom cooks it while camping. Charcoal flavored and burnt to hell. The steaks, as others said, had no flavor. Even the freakin corn on the cob was terrible! This has to be one of the strangest restaurants I have ever eaten at. The name of the restaurant should have been a tip off, but it's the place my husband chose. There's a really weird vibe in the room, which I think comes from a lack of hospitality, and the tables are jam packed into the dining room, so you are sitting very close to the other uncomfortable guests. As each group of guests arrive the seating hostess awkwardly scans the room looking for the best table to pack the guests. I'm pretty picky about my steaks and I felt this place would probably not meet my expectations so I ordered a chicken and veggie kabob instead. The chicken was actually cooked to perfection and had a good flavor. The kabob came with a salad, biscuit, cornbread, cobbette of corn, baked potato, and cowboy beans that were all just mediocre. My husband ordered the tortilla salad and a side of the cowboy beans. The cowboy beans were rather odd with just beans floating in a watery sauce that tasted like apple juice and cayenne powder. Cowboy beans traditionally have beef and onions in them. The restaurant has a selection of good local craft beers, so they get a star for that! Food was average at best. Service was horrible. I ordered Tortilla Salad (same as a taco salad), which is on the entree menu. Entree heading says ALL entrees come with cornbread, menu items with a * come with choice of other (typical) sides, such as fries, salad, etc. When my taco salad comes, I politely asked where the cornbread was... she said it didn't come with it and walked away before I could protest. My whole table is laughing now at how ridiculous the whole thing is. She wound up bringing me the tiniest piece of cornbread I've ever seen. We were tourists on a once in a lifetime trip to the south rim of the Grand Canyon, so there's no chance we're ever going back, but in a town with very few dining options, I'd look elsewhere for dinner out.
