We were told the surgery would cost between $600-$1200 and that the $300 consultation would be applied toward the operation. Afterward, they went back on that and said the consultation would not count. Then we received an estimate for $1800, which effectively cancels out the original $300 they said would be credited. He is very personable and knowledgeable. He immediately had an answer to the issues that I was there for and recommended some cream and asked me to come back in 3 months. Since the cream that the doctor prescribed would most likely not be covered by insurance, the front desk staff recommended Wellness Pharmacy that would have it for much cheaper than a CVS or a Walgreens. I wanted to try my insurance first and so they sent it to CVS and when CVS confirmed the price for the cream, I called the office back and asked them to send it to the Wellness Pharmacy and they did so and I received a text confirming the same. The waiting room I was directed to had a screen with very useful information on caring for your skin, practical advise etc. while I waited. There was also a notice posted in the room about making sure that each patient asked all the questions they had and to leave satisfied and I liked that. To my surprise, they had plenty of dates available, so I booked one for 12/11 at 3:20 PM. I received forms to complete ahead of time, which I did. The reminder email didn't mention arriving early for additional paperwork. I arrived right on time--just a couple of minutes late because I couldn't find parking. The office is on the 10th floor of a downtown building, about a block from the Santa Clara courthouse. At that time of day, street parking was easy, and I believe they also have garage parking. You receive a code to unlock the front or back door via your phone, which was convenient. Once inside, I was asked to fill out more information on an iPad, which took about five minutes. My appointment was scheduled for 3:20 PM. Around 3:45 PM, I asked how much longer I would have to wait. Someone came in almost immediately to take me to a room, take pictures, and ask questions about my concerns. By 3:55 PM--35 minutes after my scheduled time--I asked again how long it would be. I was told they would check, but no one followed up. Ten minutes later, I picked up my bag and said I wasn't going to wait any longer. At that point, I was told Vera was still treating another patient and I'd need to wait another 10 minutes. I had a very deep skin cancer on my nose that needed to be taken out and reconstructed . It took over 100 stitches to properly graft the area taken care of and one month later it is healing beautifully. Follow up visits will continue , as he personally wishes to follow the healing process in detail. This man cares more than any surgeon I've had for previous procedures. Just because a doctor is smart doesn't mean they care enough to help you. I saw her over a period of years. The office and doctor are bad with following up with prescription options when one is denied. They are also bad with setting up an after care plan. Communication with the office was terrible. They can be condescending. It's like they think they're nicer and more helpful than they are. You start adding up the facts and it's like oh you really weren't very helpful were you since I did NOT get a correct prescription or an after care plan. I had wanted to try some extra things on my skin after my primary concern was resolved, but would never get that far with this office after experiencing their ways. The front desk never got back to me like they said they would. I called so many times and heard excuses for several WEEKS about why no one had called me back. I even went in to the office only to hear the same thing: "We'll call you; the doctor received your message; we have your correct number." No one ever returned my calls.
