For once, an automotive shop that provides not only great service, but gives you the feeling that you didn't get ripped off after you brought your car in for any type of service! Recently, I brought my SUV into the IDFR shop in Woodside to have a rear bumper guard installed. First, I called them up after seeing them listed as a retailer of the Broadfeet rear bumper guard. I spoke to Melissa, who let me know if they had it in stock and, if they didn't, would order it for me. She called me back about 15 minutes later and informed me that they had it for my vehicle make/model/year and that I could bring in my SUV the next day for installation. She gave me a price quote and also a timeframe of how long it would take. In case I arrived too late, she asked if I could contact them to let them know so that I could come in the following day. The very next day though, I arrived on time 2 hours before they closed and drove my SUV into their small garage. Their main mechanic was working on 2 other vehicles when we arrived, so I had to wait a little while for my installation to start. At the end of the day, it didn't take long for them to install the rear bumper guard (approximately 3- minutes) and they did a fantastic job installing it onto the back of my SUV. When it was all done, it was exactly as I had envisioned it would look and I paid exactly what they quoted me over the phone, which by all means was less than what I anticipated, based on what I had seen online. At first, the guard was a bit off and not straight, but the manager, Edward, came out and fixed it quickly for us. Edward and Melissa were as nice as can be and honest too, which goes a LONGGGG way in building trust for automobile repairs. If I need any additional work on my vehicle, such as camera installation or bumper protection, or if anyone else I know needs that type of work done, I will definitely be considering/recommending the IDFR Woodside shop first! read more

I brought my car here in January 2022 to see how best to fix my center console which had the cigarette lighter pushed down into the front of the console by a valet. Omar came in with the console and the guy said it would be $60 to hot glue it. This is literally a 10 min job. And $60 is a lot. But they gave me the price after having the console apart. I would up giving omar and his assistant $6 tip as I wanted them to do a good job. I thought they did an ok job until a few days later, I noticed that the middle of the console was not fitting right and that the cover for the emergency brake was sagging down. It turned out that when they removed the console (rather roughly) that Omar or his assistant broke parts of the console that were fine when I brought them in. When Omar showed me a cover plate, he showed me a hairline crack, and told me that, "You must have broken it when you tried to fix it." That was nonsense. I didn't want to cause a scene over a hairline crack but I had no such crack when I brought them the car. Turns out he caused way more than a hairline crack. As you can see from the photos a big chunk even of the main console itself was actually broken by him just below the hairline crack - and that chunk was now missing. Look at the hot glue etc. These parts were all fine before they manhandled it. I've had this car since new and they man handled the console and did more damage than they fixed. I contacted melissa once I saw that it was all not fitting together right and that the emergency brake cover was falling apart and she assured me they would make it right. That was in January 2022, 4 months ago. She promised me my $66 total would be returned and she would pay for the console parts to be replaced and repaired, even somewhere else if I chose to take it somewhere else. Sounded great to me. A shop that would do the right thing. I sent a list of parts with a hope that they would try to find them and to fix it. No word back. Some of these parts are available new and some are certainly available on eBay. Not one of the various (3) emails I've sent since I spoke with melissa (recently even just wanting the $66 back) went answered. Total ghost from her. Emails to her: Jan 19, April 20, may 27 11am. Nothing back. Like I said they did more harm than good and they didn't tell me the truth that they damaged the middle area of the console. You can see where they hot glued areas that had nothing to do with the 12v port in the front of the console. My point here is that omar and his assistant were not honest that they did this and would need to repair it; and that when it was brought to her attention, melissa promised to do something to remedy the situation and then chose to do nothing. They manhandled my car, pretended like a small issue was pre-existing (which it was not), and somehow omar assumed I would not see the missing chunk of plastic? That's kind of playing the customer for a fool. They did not bother to make it right. I would not use this place because they don't stand behind their work. If something goes wrong with your car, I wouldn't expect them to be honorable and tell you about it. You can probably assume they will hide it and will not reply. I went here because of the good Yelp Reviews but had a totally different experience. I have other photos but this should give you an idea of the force that had to be applied to the console to get it to break like that. read more

My car wouldn't start and my husband thinks the alarm system preventing it from starting. I had the car towed to the shop this morning. I was busy on a working call the entire time but Edward and the staffs there greeted me with immense professionalism and complete honesty. In few minutes, they did the diagnostic and Edward gave me a modest estimate and the approximate time of completion. I gave an ok and in less than 30 minutes my car is ready. Edward even gave me a very clear and concise hands on instructions of how to deal with the alarm in case this incident ever occurred again. Came in for a faulty alarm remote, they checked it out and it turned out that I just needed to readjust the antenna. And, to think that I almost went in there to replace the whole system. The female worker at the front desk was so helpful. She even gave me tips on what to do with my alarm, the next time it become fails to open. The place doesn't seem like much, I almost didn't go there bc it didn't look like there were too many customers. Simply awful. Not only did they damage my car they also left me in a total bind. They installed a Smart Start device in my car and left my fabric headliner totally soiled. When I pointed this out to the manager he simply said I should take it to a detail shop and have it cleaned. My car was brand spanking new and spotless. Fast forward seven months later to have the Smart Start removed. I came in on a Saturday to have the device removed and he simply said we don't do that on a Saturday. I noted that I was on 24 hour lockout and if it was not removed that day I would be charged $100. He said sorry and just walked away. Horrible service. Zero stars. Do not go here for anything. Just left this place and I wouldn't go back. I called to ask if they could install Component Speakers in the front doors of my 2011 Jetta. They told me to get there by 4:30 so they could finish by 6 (their closing time). I got there at 4:20, gave them the new speakers, and their installer got to work. Except he had no clue how to work on my 2011 Volkswagen Jetta. He started jamming a screwdriver trying to pry apart certain pieces of my door and damaged my door panel. In the end their installer told the secretary that he won't be able to finish the job before 6 and I was out by 5:20. So basically in about 1 hour, a professional auto shop couldn't remove 1 door panel. They told me to come back Saturday, but I won't be going back. I've been to other auto shops. I understand they can be sloppy with work sometime, but this guy didn't even care he was working on someone else's car. He just got a screwdriver and tried to jam it into any opening he found to pry apart the door. Not professional at all. read more

Brought my Honda Accord into Ideas First after getting unreasonable quotes and general unhelpfulness from the dealer, the alarm company and online forums when my new key fob brought back an unwanted beeping/chirping every time I'd lock or unlock my doors and setting off an annoying car alarm (that had been silenced by another mechanic years earlier). Melissa immediately understood what I wanted and got to work on the car herself, looking up alarm schematics on her phone and eventually finding the right sequence to silence--but not disconnect--the alarm through a combination of intricate door locks, button pushing, and dashboard disabling. All told she charged me $25 AND gave me a bottle of water! Melissa's a genius and the rest of the shop seemed to know what they were doing. I went here to get a dash kit, wiring harness and Pioneer DEH-X6500BT receiver installed in our beat Jeep Liberty. From the moment I called the shop and spoke to Paul, we received nothing but the friendliest and most helpful service possible. We called the night before to schedule an appointment and drove in the next day to have it ready to pick up the next morning. They gave us a fair deal and wired everything up right so that the stock receiver could be easily reinstalled, in the case that we might keep the receiver for our next vehicle after selling our POS Jeep. I did not expect such good service and quality work done with such short notice. This shop can handle business, which is why I drove down from Westchester to have the work done here. If it's high-end, audiophile-grade equipment you want, with a sales and tech crew that specialize in this kind of thing, I'm not sure where I'd go in NY. I'd probably get it done somewhere in New England or PA. For anything else, this place is legit! read more

I went to these guys to get a Draw-tile 75600 tow hitch installed on my 2014 BMW X5. It was installed in a hour time. I was happy until I found out that they didn't put back my rear impact bar. I brought to the attention of the people who work on my car, and they claimed that they couldn't fit (not true) and that it didn't have to be put on because of hitch. I took their word for it, but later that night it didnt sit well with me. I ended up calling the hitch company the and they told me that those guys were totally wrong. I went to another place and got the work done, to my surprise the hitch fit perfectly. The Ideas guys knew they messed up but they didn't want to do the work to fix it. I wanted HID lights for my Ford ST and couldn't wait for the weekend to pass. This was the only shop I found open that would do my lights on a Sunday. So I went with them. Big mistake. I walk in saying I wanted 8k HIDs. The guy checks his inventory and says they only have 12k (which are supposed to be nearly purple). According to them, these aren't purple, and are more like a white-blue... which made me question if it was even a 12k. Anyway, I went ahead and did the installation, as well as 3k fogs (which by the way weren't yellow like they're supposed to be and instead were more like a green). I immediately noticed that the lights these guys had in stock weren't the typical HID colors. They installed the lights and it looked okay, it was during the day so they looked fine. Although it was a Sunday and the shop was very empty.. think I saw one other client in there the whole time I was there and they came in long after me... it took them 2.5 hours to install my lights... a job that shouldn't have taken more than an hour tops. When the tech finally comes out with my car he tells me he didn't have the proper screw to install the inside LED's and I would have to come back tomorrow so he can use another technicians tools... "wut... lol" When night came I realized that these "12k's" really sucked at lighting. They weren't purple... they seemed like 8ks. The next day I do go back to finish the inside LED's and while I'm there I asked if they could swap the 12ks for something brighter, the manager says "those can't be 12k's.. they would look purple." I told him thats what his tech told me.. the manager went to go check out the car and apparently they were "12k's." Anyway..they did swap out the bulbs which I appreciated without any problems. They gave me what I was told are 6ks or pure white. Got my LED's and HID's installed, customer service was nice, I was happy. To not prolong this long story anymore, I was given 6 month warranty on the lights. Within a month I had gone back because the left light wasn't turning on. Then the right wouldn't turn on. "They fixed it"... another month later the left is a lot dimmer. The fog's never gave me an issue up until now.. one is completely out. I went about 7 months after the initial installment because there were times in the winter the lights would just not turn on at all which was very bad. They told me the warranty was over and they couldn't do anything. Also they had changed their warranty on new installments to only 3 months now.... gee I wonder why. The shop looks great and they are very nice people.. but I woudn't recommend anyone getting HID's here.. It seems to me they are not very experienced in that department. In total I spent $320 for lights that didn't last more than a few months working properly even though HID's are supposed to last years... now I have to go somewhere else and pay all over again for a fresh new kit and installment. read more

I would give a ZERO rating if Yelp allowed. I purchased a Groupon to get my car windows tinted. I left a total of 8 voicemails over a 2 week period trying to schedule the appointment to have this done. My husband left 2 separate messages over the 2 weeks prior with no call back. When he finally got a human to speak with him, the earliest date he had to do window tinting with March 2015. When I finally spoke with a human, the earliest date available was in January 2015. Oddly, the first question the human asked both of us was if we were using a Groupon or not before he would give a date for tinting availability. Fishy. When I said that I couldn't then use my Groupon, the person on the other line responded that we can always use the amount spent on the Groupon towards the service. We bought the Groupon for the DEAL not as a credit to use as a later date. I can go to other reputable places whose services are cheaper than what Fusion Autosports normally charges, and we will. We have been calling well before the expiration date of the Groupon of December 24th, 2014 and, from the date of the first phone call/voicemail, that would have given us 3 months during which to schedule an appointment. This company is trying to game customers through a Groupon incentive. If it were December 23rd and I was trying to book this with one day's notice, I would get it. But, 10 voicemails left over a 4 week period, and conveniently selecting a date JUST after the Groupon expires as to when you can use it is certainly a questionable business practice. read more

Came here a few months ago to install side steps for my 99 pathfinder, the whole process was pretty smooth. Called them and told them what I was looking for and the guy there knew exactly what I wanted. The installation took a little time cause they had other customers to take care of but regardless the service and time it took for installation was great. The bar looks very nice and now my car looks great with them on. Its already a few months in and even though I contact a lot of saltwater with my car cause i fish the stainless steel is holding up very nicely. definitely a happy customer! read more
