This is a review about the food only. I have been to Yering Station about 8 times in the past 10 years and I must say the food has improved a lot this time round. We were given the wrong menu (the winter menu I believe) at first which really saddens me because there are quite a few things I wanted there (scallops, more ton bay bug entrees, brioche pudding which in hindsight was VERRRYYY weird to have in summer). But I did find a few gems in the summer menu. The miso trout was amazing, so was the barramundi with mussels. Hubby was equally impressed with the beef tartare and his beautifully medium rare steak. Hubby refuses to share dessert with me so we had to order two cookies and cream dessert which was, in hindsight, the best decision everrrrr because I most certainly did not want to share mine. What a great way to celebrate the new year!

Lovely winery with a beautiful scenery! Food was very fresh and not like anything I've ever had before.

I LOVE this place. Everything about it! From the rustic tasting room and produce shop to the modern new building where the restaurant and function area it. The wines are good and worth a taste but if you aren't a drinker it is still worth a visit. The newer building has floor to ceiling windows on one side that provide a breathtaking view of the valley and hills (I'm originally from the country and i still think it's magical). The food is delicious and features local produce.

I came here for father's day and was blown away by the architecture of the place. It was so beautiful and well designed; we spent 20 minuets just strolling around the place before heading into the restaurant area. The dining hall was a giant glass box that looked out onto their lush green fields. The menu was simple, it could have done with a few more options, but is still fine without them. For entree I ordered the crab cakes (which I loved), followed by a fish for main. I'm not usually keen on fish, but this one went down a treat. I think their food was unique and definitely appetizing. For desert it was the mint opera cake, which was probably my highlight. There is a playground outside for children and helicopter landing space (if you were wondering where to park your chopper).

On our adventure out to the wine region of Melbourne, we visited Yering Station (Where it all began apparently). Yering Station is a beautiful winery. The grounds are maintained to perfection and the buildings are architecturally heavenly. Some of them still standing from the early 1900's. You can actually stay at Yering Station, there is an 'incredible' hotel here. The hotel will only set you back about $1300 a night (Loose change for some of us i guess), we didn't get to view the hotel space but i'm sure for that price it must be something pretty life changing. Out of all the wines i did get to sample on the fine day in the 'green belt', Yering probably was the only winery where i didn't like a wine... well i didn't like any here. The assistant that was helping us with the tasting was chipper and friendly, she explained the wines really well but i just wasn't a fan. The winery had so much artwork around, sculptures, photography and painting littered the grounds. It was quite breathtaking. Come here for the Art and Gift Shop, better wine is not too far away

Didnt get far enough to sample a food place for the review... any of the food places. I was confused by the parking lot situation and the conflicting signs (some acrossed from eachother). Multiple parking stations for multiple restraunts perhaps? But I couldnt find the one I read the review of and wanted to try So I got hangry and left.

Little change since the last visit. Entrees had good flavors. We had the octopus, quail and scallops. The octopus was disappointing as the texture was not good. The scallops and quail was very good. Unfortunately all the entrees arrived lukewarm to cold. Disappointing. Don't know the reason why, maybe it's the front of the house. The meal was washed down with a decent Shiraz Viognier mix. For the mains, we had the angus eye fillet and lamb. Ordered medium and medium rare. They came out well cooked and salvaged what was a disappointing start. We decided against desserts to opt for the chocolate and ice creamery a few miles outside of the winery. Overall an uneven lunch. Better than average but not as good as what we had before. Due to the price, which was high, I have to rate it one star lower than I previously ranked.

Bannockburn chicken, smoked potato, sweet corn and ravioli. The menu didn't say A ravioli, how deceiving.

Glass windows wrap the Barn with huge Windows on left and a large dining table with large pot plants in the middle of the room as its centre pieces. cudos to the interior designer as the busy layout fully utilised the floor space whilst maintaining the feel of an open plan. Taking advantage of the high ceiling and glass windows creating a flowing aspect that leads your gaze through to the vineyard itself. Dining here was a wonder in itself. The Autumn menu was quite interesting, for $60 pax.. you get to choose an entree and main. It also comes with 2 great sides a salad (forgot description, it wasnt ur woollies mixed salad bag variety) and potatoes with garlic n herb confit. we chose the kingfish and free range suckling pig as entree and for mains we ordered the lamb and barramundi. Have to say we were very impressed by the quality of the produce and the culinary skills of the chefs. The use of a pickled apple salad mixed with I think water crest? in the square of suckling pig was amazing!!! the pork meat was tight with hardly any fat on it at all. It wasn't dry, quite succulent and if u went a little crazy on the bread, it could easily be your main :) .... noooo .. I didn't go crazy on the bread.. I held back on asking for a third serving ;) (which I might add was reaally good.) as for the other entree I didn't get a chance to sample any of it cus it was all gone by the time I realised I should try it. I'm assured that it was great too! I didn't make the same mistake with the mains mind you :) The lamb ..... what can I say .. was hearty and really hit the spot. Slightly a bit overdone to medium.. would have been better if a bit more pink. But nonetheless was pretty good. the side pea salad was interesting and did wonders to balance out the heaviness of the lamb. The barramundi I have to say although yum! could be better. The skin could do with a sprinkle of sea salt and grilled to a crisp. Overall for $60 for 2 courses, was I think on the mark considering the quality and 2 accompanying sides. What I thought was lacking however was the picturesque vineyard scenery. Stones vineyard was ok but others like Tarrawarra and De Bortelli are better for this.

I went along with a group of seven and upon entry we were guided to the private dining room - THE PRIVATE DINING ROOM. I felt so damn fancy. The Stones is set up tapas-style, with huge boards of cheese, charcuterie, taramasalata, lamb shoulder and even fried chicken being placed down in front of us - all for only $50 per person. Drinks-wise we consumed a bottle or three of locally-produced sparkling wine and rosé, plus a few sneaky Pimms cocktails on the side. It truly was an indulgent day! Staff were incredible - truly knowledgeable about what they were serving and able to make some great wine suggestions based off the meal. A wedding was due to commence after our meal and the staff asked us to move on so very kindly that we were happy to go to the more casual venue next door. HOWEVER, and I would never normally do this, one staff member who appeared to be an event manager of the wedding was *incredibly* rude to our group as we were walking towards the car. This really put a dampner on what was otherwise a wonderful day.

As the Urban sprawl envelopes the area, it's only logical that the demand for places like The Firehouse would pop up, and from what I've seen, the place is in high demand. Every time I have been here it has been fully booked up, and deservedly so. The food is fantastic, the service is quite good, and the menu boasts dishes you won't find anywhere else in Ringwood. For an experience such as this however, there is a cost. The Firehouse is also one of the most expensive places to eat in the area, with a lunch consisting of one meal, one drink and a coffee chalking up an easy $40. I was there last week, and had the omelette for lunch, with a beer and a coffee. The omelette was sensational, full of Italian cheese and sautéed mushrooms. Not oily or overly salty, it was a good lunch size and left room for me to check out the superb dessert menu. With a group of 8 of us, I must note that the service was great until the desserts came out, and we were given another tables order. This left a couple of us with no dessert, and the staff were forced to come and apologize, then leave those without dessert waiting until well after the rest of us were finished until they received theirs. We were compensated with free coffee though, which was nice.

The last of the restaurants is the Firehouse, a rather posh looking establishment with vines on the walls and big glass windows to look out to the road. While not the most appealing of sights, it does fill the space with amazing light. I'd recommend this as the special occasion eatery rather than simply a spot to grab a bite. The meals are pricey, so if you're after something small head to the shopping centre. The ambiance and service of the place, however, is amazing, along with after dinner drinks in a lounge area found upstairs. The staff are wonderful and good at recommending dishes and prompt delivery of fabulous feasts.
