Good, but not great. The space is more aesthetic and felt upscale, but the service itself didn't quite live up to the setting. I booked the 150-minute Yeoun Ritual (about $400 before tip, plus a $20 long-hair surcharge) as an early birthday treat. While it was relaxing overall, the actual head spa experience didn't compare to others I've had. I appreciated the lymphatic component, and the light facial massage portion was lovely. The shampoo was also extremely thorough, and my therapist was kind, attentive, and never made me feel rushed. She clearly cared about providing a good experience. That said, there was surprisingly little actual head massage--very little focus on pressure points or scalp massage, and none of the waterfall-style rinse that many other head spas offer. For the price, I also expected a private treatment room, but the service takes place in a shared room separated only by curtains. Despite the background music, I could clearly hear conversations from the neighboring station, and the therapist next to me even answered a phone call on speaker during my treatment, which was distracting and honestly pretty surprising for a premium experience. Overall, the experience simply didn't justify the price tag for me. If you're on the Peninsula like I am, I don't think it's worth making the trip into San Francisco for this service. There are several Asian-style head spas on the Peninsula that may not have the same polished aesthetic, but they deliver a much more authentic head spa experience, with more emphasis on scalp massage, pressure points, and traditional techniques. read more

Had the most relaxing experience at Yeoun Head Spa! I had the Yeoun Signature Ritual and Nancy was so talented! I've tried other headspas before, but I love how they offer lymphatic drainage facials here. My face was bloated this morning, but Nancy worked her magic and my face was visibly slimmer afterwards. My hair was definitely softer and my scalp was a clean milky white! I fell asleep a couple of times since I was so relaxed and look forward to my next visit! It is more on the expensive side compared to other hair spas but I loved the quality and experience. My hair is also at my waist so that was an extra $40 so note the price of your service will be more depending if your hair is longer. read more

I am thrilled that Yeoun Head Spa has opened in SF! This was, without a doubt, the best spa experience I've had in years--a genuine moment of badly needed restorative self-care. I chose the Fresh Balanced Scalp Treatment and was cared for by Eena, a specialist who is both gentle and meticulously thorough. The atmosphere is immediately relaxing: the space is very clean, dimly lit, spa music softly playing in the background, with comfortable reclining chairs. I was given a new disposable cover and a soft blanket for warmth (I changed into a tank top to keep my sweater dry). The session began with a consultation: Eena took magnified photos of my scalp. Seeing the dryness, dandruff, and enlarged capillaries was shocking? After selecting a mild, soothing lavender scent, we started the treatment. The 60-minute process felt restorative from start to finish. I especially enjoyed the initial dry scalp massage, first with a Gua Sha tool, and then with a stimulating multi-prong device. The double-shampooing was easily my favorite part--it was thorough, intense, and immensely satisfying. This was followed by a restorative mask gently applied to the scalp and hair. A high-tech machine was used to rinse, calibrated to the perfect temperature and water pressure for a spotless clean. The treatment concluded with a revitalizing serum massaged into the scalp, and a quick, wonderfully relaxing neck and shoulder massage. Eena finished the session by expertly blow-drying my hair. Eena took "after" photos to compare, and the difference was remarkable. For the next few days, my hair felt incredibly light, clean, and completely non-itchy. Even friends who hadn't known I went commented on how good my hair looked! Would I recommend this? Absolutely. I've already sent my husband, and he called it the nicest thing I've done for him all year. We are now treating my mother-in-law to a session for her birthday. A female friend (with great hair) had a wonderful experience at Yeoun Head Spa and suggested I give it a try even though I'm male and have short hair. I wasn't sure what to expect but the space was very inviting, clean, calm and comfortable. Eena was polite and informative before, during and after the treatment. Again, I really didn't know what to expect and she walked me through each step from the gold hairbrush, gua sha, massage, multiple shampoos with different products, the red light treatment and a special treatment to help with hair loss. Oh, and the scalp analysis before and after definitely showed me that the treatment was worth it. It sounds like having the treatment once a month could lead to fuller hair.
