I've been here three times. Overall, the experience has been just okay and inconsistent enough that I am not sure I will return, even though it is very close and convenient. The first visit was fine service-wise, but I believe I was overcharged. I checked the shellac manicure and pedicure pricing online beforehand, and the final cost did not seem to match. I let it go at the time and assumed there may have been a miscommunication. The second visit was more frustrating. I booked an express manicure that was advertised as a 15-minute service. However, removing my existing polish and putting polish alone took about 30 minutes. Since classic polish also requires drying time, the timing did not align with what was described during booking. The third visit was the most uncomfortable. I booked the express manicure and pedicure and did not realize that gel polish was not included. The service description said cuticle care and polish change, but did not specify what type of polish, so I assumed gel would take the same amount of time as classic polish and be included. Because of that, I did not know I needed to book additional services. The technician repeatedly complained about my booking, both directly to me and in a language she assumed I did not understand. I did understand her. She said the appointment would take longer and that I had booked it wrong, which led to multiple add-on charges for gel polish and gel removal on top of the original $60 service. The frustration seemed to come from the extra time needed, but the online booking descriptions do not clearly explain what is included or excluded. This creates confusion for customers and tension during the appointment. Be aware when booking online that gel polish and gel removal are charged separately and the add-on options are not clearly listed. read more

I had the most comfortable pedicure I've ever had here! Booking was super easy, and the whole experience felt calm and professional. I'm used to cringing through pedicures and always thought "beauty is pain," but I guess I was just wrong about that They didn't rush me at all -- I even got to relax in the comfy chair while my polish dried. I also love that they don't use those noisy massage chairs that always feel uncomfortable and gimmicky. The space felt peaceful and high quality, and my nails look amazing. After my massage my upper back and neck tension is notably improved and I feel like my body had the reset it needed. I booked Cocoon after reading some great reviews for a little girls pampering night on a Sunday a few weeks ago. I was pretty excited by both the look/feel of the place and that they provide bubbly! The cost is somewhere between $80-120 for a mani-pedi depending on whether or not you want gel, but interesting that my gf wanted gel and we didn't get any notice on how much it was as an add on (I think its something like $30+ even if its just for either mani or pedi not both). I really enjoyed the space, and the experience, and it seems like my gf got a much better manicure than I did. I only asked for clear on the pedi and a regular black mani, but my nails are super lumpy/uneven from the polish as well as full of bubbles/imperfections. Pretty disappointed to spend $220+ for two people to get such terrible quality mani/pedi but I guess you're going for the experience? read more

First, making the appointment - it was difficult to find an open time that works, but the person who answered my calls twice was super helpful. Okay, vibe - the place was really calming. Right off the bat, as you enter, the aroma was relaxing. Maybe except the bathroom though - they should def have whatever scents they're using put in there as well. Anyway - the receptionist was nice and really helpful. For the service, Hannah did my pedicure and she was very accommodating to my request and the end result was as intended . I just tried PureSculpt for the first time here with Kristina! She was super nice and made it easier for me to get through it lol. I had literally no idea what I signed up for and she could tell. She explained it's like rubbing a piece of frozen clay on my body. It felt like a piece of ice being rubbed and melted on my body. This service is messy lol you basically take off your clothes and put on disposable undies that can get messy with clay. You also protect your hair in a shower cap. When it's all done, you get wiped down with towels and you finish getting clean with wipes. Kristina was super friendly and easy to talk to, and it was great distraction while I was getting the service done - which is a bit cold! If you do cold plunges from time to time like I do, you'll be fine though! However, I did do the express version which was quicker/easier than the full service. She told me it's like half the amount of clay as the full service. The price difference for Express vs. regular is $170 vs. $210 respectively. Express only took like 25 minutes even though I was booked for an hour. Maybe Kristina is just a pro and got done efficiently! But yeah, that threw me off in terms of me expecting it to be a longer service. I did feel great after even though I'm not sure if I'll see the effects after just one service. My mom on the other hand got the endermologie service done and she really liked it! 50 minutes for $210. It was fully that length of time. She said the machine was newer than one she has used before at another place. One of the things I didn't expect but loved was the waiting lobby! They have a ridiculously comfortable living room - vibe type space. There's a sofa, and two lounge chairs where you can fully lay down while waiting. I happily waited for my mom in one of these chairs! The ambiance is dimly lit, so relaxing, and there is tea and water available. Not to mention, when you first arrive, you are offered a glass of bubbly! (Prosecco) There was also WiFi to use so my dad could fully indulge on his phone without using all his data, since I came with my parents while they were visiting. Kysa helped us with payment stuff over the phone when we had a question about payment afterwards - she was super helpful! Overall it was a luxurious experience and highly recommend if you feel like pampering yourself! read more

Came to this location with a group from work for facials, massages, and pedicures and I was lucky enough to draw a facial for my service. It was a cute and cozy little studio but when I tell you this was the best 60 minutes facial I have ever had - I'm not kidding. Susannah was incredibly knowledgeable and talented. I have some sensitivity with my skin and explained to her at the start of the service what products work for me and what don't. She was able to quickly modify the treatment to something what left me GLOWING. When I met up with everyone after our services - literally everyone noticed how glowy and beautiful my skin was. NOT a returning costumer! this is what my last night visit has concluded with. 1) How can you be a manicurist and don't want/know to use a regular dry hand file?! blows my mind. 2) 138 of the comments here say you're greeted with prosecco, I was offered tap water and hot tea, I thought they ran out-turned out they did have, when half way through appt some guy asked for it and they silently brought it to him alone. I had a hard gel long manicure on that they didn't know how to remove. their argument was they don't have the tool (the drill-auto file) to use because they don't offer that service but they have regular files which they don't know how to use! put a lot of acetone on which I told the lady will not work, then she used some chemical dissolvent like 3 times and every time with a long sigh. It took a lot longer than she anticipated and her next appt was there so she rushed a lot which led to more deep sighs and me knowing I was going to get out with crappy nails. I cut them shortest you can cut a nail, ended up with wavy nails, super thick on one hand (old gel not being fully removed) and thinner on the other (the hand that was closer to her ended up better). the gel on a thumb nail shrinked under UV light and she just put a thicker layer on top to even out which I discovered this morning is not even dry well. :((( I just moved across the street, but definitely not my next go to salon! read more

My friend and I went here for a day spa experience and it did not disappoint! We both got an oxygen facial, deep tissue massage (she got the prenatal one due to her being pregnant), and the deluxe mani and pedi. I also got my eyebrows waxed. Visited Cocoon Urban Day Spa for the first time yesterday and it was an amazing experience. I scheduled an hour massage, manicure, and pedicure, and it was totally worth it. The outside of the business, located on 1st Street is very unassuming and easy to miss. There is also EXTREMELY limited street parking up and down first street and there are several other businesses competing for parking spaces. Once you enter the building, it's important to realize that Cocoon is located upstairs. The interior is extremely calming and relaxing. The staff was friendly and everyone is offered tea or water upon entry. There is also a boutique located near the register. Now, the massage was wonderful. The therapist was friendly and very cognizant of pressure. The manicure and pedicure team was also friendly and efficient. Pro Tip, if you want a GREAT DEAL use Groupon. read more

Therapy: As someone who's mom was a massage therapist trained at one of the best MT schools in the nation, and someone who has had regular massages on and off most of my adult life, I'm picky. I had massages from a male therapist at at the soma location, Esley i believe was his name. He's excellent with wonderful personalized touches like ending with a hot stone to the back etc. Each time I saw him, soma location got me in on short notice to see him when I was in a great deal of pain, and he helped get me out of it quickly! I mainly went to Noe location near where I was living and there, had a phenomenal therapist named Greg. See the Noe location yelp review for details, but he's one of the best I've ever had. Atmosphere: Im grateful to have found this place, especially in san francisco where most spas have uncomfortable atmoshoheres in my opinonion. Its welcoming and relaxing but yet professional. I'm very picky not only about massage therapists but even the atmosphere of a spa. Personally, i do not prefer to get a message somewhere with overtly spiritual artwork or statues and will avoid booking somewhere because of these things. Cacoon in Noe hits the ticket. The only downside is the cost which is very high but somewhat understandable given the location. Parking of course is a challenge in soma so I personally took public transit or uber. read more

But June nailed it! These nails are absolutely perfect and I will definitely be back! The overall experience here was "meh". We had a reservation for a team outing of menis and pedis for 3 hours. Some of us wanted to get gel instead of regular nail polish but the staff declined multiple times stating there was not enough time. I personally felt like the way the situation was approached was rude. Next, not all of us were able to her serviced at the same time, which caused one person to sit around for an hour, waiting. The lady that did my pedi also did not remove and dead skin from my feet. She only let my feet soak in water and then applied nail polish. Would not recommend. read more

I love Cocoon Urban Day Spa! This place is super close to where I live, so I have been popping by every once in a while for my mani/pedi. All of the technicians have pretty much the same skillset, so I don't think I have found a favorite yet. Although, one of the ladies once ended up filing my skin next to the nail... and used alcohol afterwards to clean the area. That was just a one time incident where I probably should have said something. Oh well... LOL. I've liked how my nails look every single time though. It's a pretty standard environment that's quite cozy. They provide a pillow and also offer you a bottle of water which is nice. I haven't had the chance to go there for a massage yet (or any of their other services) - I'd like to someday because homegirl LOVES massages, but their prices are a bit steep. Love that they keep your ph# on file, so calling in to make an appointment makes it that much faster. When you go to pay at the front desk, they also have your info on file again so you don't have to keep pulling out your CC. 5 stars for convenience. One thing I have noticed is that their website doesn't work for making appointments though - not sure if they're aware of that. I took advantage of the Groupon deal for a 60 min couples massage and upgraded to 90mins for an extra $130. Overall I would say that I really am happy I did so! The interior is beautiful. From the moment you go up the stairs you, you are welcome with smiles, and great service from the friendly reception service. I enjoyed feasting my eyes women's-wear and cute jewellery. So my fiancé and I booked a couples massage and were checked in by answering protocol health questions and scanned our temperature on the wrist! Yay! No forehead, not that I mind. Just had the best massage of my life! Chanra was my massage therapist and even though it was my first time with her she could tell exactly what parts of my body needed the most help. My neck felt tight, but she could feel that was because of tension in my trapezius muscles and she was able to work that out.
