The staff here are just the sweetest. I think they were students, but they were so sweet and smiling the entire time. We ordered a few items off the menu and asked for pickles on the side, and they gave us both pickles and jalapeños. This cafe is right by the original Yellowstone sign, so it is a perfect stop before you enter the park. They have some Yellowstone merch in here, so I, of course, had to get a hat. The menu had a variety of sandwiches and desserts with their speciality Huckleberry. It started to get pretty busy after we got in, but we were still able to get a seat in the back for all of us. The sandwiches were great, and some came with chips. They were an easy, quick eat that didn't leave too much of a mess. Wanted to get a quick bite close to Yellowstone np north entrance. We took a picture with the park sign close by and this was one of the closest places that was open. We ordered some drinks and the Viacom tacos. We were pleasantly surprised. The tacos were really great ! Beef was seasoned nicely and tasted great and they were filled with a lot of cheese and salsa. We noticed the nice smell of the freshly made waffle cones so we also got some ice cream after that. Chocolate chip and chocolate. The ice cream and the cone were also great. Now thru October, 2026, the park has timed entry from 10am-2:00pm. I think it's every day. You need to go online and book a time to go in and book well ahead of time, not the day of because the park books up fast. If you google "timed entry Yellowstone Park" it will lead you to where you need to book. The park is beautiful. read more

If you want the best breakfast ever, you better stop here. We stayed in Gardiner for two days while in the park and we made sure to stop here both days. The food is amazing, coffee is great and the people are so friendly! The owners/managers seem to really take ownership and make sure the customers are satisfied. Stopped at Yellowstone Perk in Gardiner, MT, on Labor Day for some ice cream and came away satisfied but not blown away. The flavor selection is not huge, and we had to wave down someone behind the counter to get help, but the treats were satisfying enough as this spot is *right* at the north Yellowstone entrance...so some visits may be because one does not wish to look or search any farther and taking the first thing is sometimes necessary. As you may have guessed, Yellowstone Perk is also a coffee spot and a tourist gift/trinket shop, which you may find useful if you didn't get your Yellowstone Park mementos while inside the park. Nothing bad to say, and nothing that makes you remember it forever. Perfect for a quick sweet treat while sightseeing. I'd give it about 3 to 3.5 stars on a five-star scale. read more

The J5 working didn't know what any of the change even was. Milkshake was fine but it was $7 fine not $15 fine. My new spot for a matcha to stop and grab before entering the park! Get the huckleberry one as it's not too sweet! Didn't have this but heard the buffalo tacos are delish from a woman who owns a catering business. Lots of cute hats, tshirts and sweatshirts too. Oh and the ice cream is good as well. Very cute breakfast nook just outside the gates to Yellowstone Park. Seating for about 24 people and it appears they do alot of takeout. They may have the monopoly in town since the first few places we checked were just coffee and scone type places. Not gonna do it for me! Every time we come to Gardiner, MT we definitely have to stop at the perk. My wife had the veggie panini and I had the bison cheesesteak both of which were very delicious. The cheesesteak is huge and meaty and the panini was also huge and filled with generous portions of veggies. We would highly recommend The Yellowstone Perk if you are visiting Yellowstone National Park or anywhere nearby, definitely worth the drive and visit. Plus they have the biggest selection of ice cream in Gardiner. The grill is open until 3pm. read more

The food was expensive and when i got my chicken sandwich the center was cold you could tell it was a cheap frozen patty, the workers were being rude to customers especially on the ice cream side, I would not recommend for the price. The best cold brew I had in Yellowstone was here! There were patrons lining out the door. The nicest man was working here, I believe his name was Tony. He was greeting everyone like they were family. We were approaching Yellowstone Park and wanted to grab coffee before getting inside. Yellowstone Perk was conveniently located right outside the North entrance with parking right out front. Some customers were enjoying breakfast inside. They have tables to sit at and also lots of souvenirs to buy. The bathrooms are super clean. We had both breakfast and an early evening ice cream here and both were delicious. The coffee hit the spot, delicious and well made. The breakfast was also nice. Really obnoxious place. Cashier said any milkshake from any ice cream in the freezer was $10.95. Huckleberry was in the freezer, she said that was fine too. But there's a separate fancy huckleberry milkshake on the menu that costs $2 more. I asked about the difference, she said whipped cream. But who needs whipped cream? Not I! So I go to order the regular milkshake in huckleberry flavor, no need for any toppings. Suddenly a different cashier replaced the original one and now it's $12.95, turns out that flavor is just more expensive. It wasn't when I came in to the shop, but it is now. Ok $10.95 (pre-tax!) is already more than I've ever paid for a milkshake anywhere in the country before. $12.95 is insane. But irregardless, they'd already told me the price and now they're adding $2 more? Wtf is that? Having investigated Yelp images, it seems their fancy huckleberry milkshake comes with a donut. This place actually exceeded my expectations. The options in terms of food are limited, but what they do serve is pretty good and I would have gone back every morning if I had stayed in the area. The have a bathroom for customers and there is pretty plenty of parking. They have hot breakfast items, and some pastry type breads as well as ice cream.
