I love this store. It's fun, colorful and creative. The poster art of our beloved city of Birmingham is cool. T-shirts and nicknacks bearing the Birmingham, Alabama name are plentiful. The people working there are always nice and helpful. Prices are a bit high, but the store is in a very popular area, so I imagine rent ain't cheap. You should drop in to cool off after shopping in the farmers market. Makes for a great day out! read more

I've been digging Yellowhammer Creative's neato Bham-love designs, and therefore I was stoked to pay a visit to their Yellowhammer Print Shop in Pizitz Food Hall. Yellowhammer's main items are t-shirts and posters and you'll find many at this store, along with other goodies such as postcards, bags, koozies, dishcloths, and stuff from other makers, like soaps. Birmingham has seen a revival in the past few years like no one could have predicted. I credit many people and things. I had visited Birmingham in October and gone to dinner at a place in the Pepper Place mkts. While waiting for our table, we were strolling past Yellowhammer and I saw the most beautiful wall hanging in the window. I sadly couldn't coordinate a time to get in the shop when they were open before I left town. I emailed them and they were willing to ship it! YHC is the company responsible for making Heart of Dixie, It's Nice to Have You in Birmingham, Substrate Radio, Tragic City Rollers, St. Paul and The Broken Bones, and countless other local and regional merch. Yes they have a retail space with all their shirts and the majority of the posters they have done. So glad these guys exist. Its a must uniform to wear one of their t-shirts to show you love Birmingham. Their poster series for this year's Summer Film Series at the Alabama Theatre was spot on coolness. I have an addiction to all things YHC. Their shirts are of great quality (even though I hate the thin track style shirts) and their prints are always great. In fact, i have two prints in my living room, and have ordered custom ones for the prom where I teach. They have been super accommodating whether I'm buying something for myself or for my job. I've ordered from YHC online and have had no issues. However, I wanted to visit the store in person while I was back in Birmingham over the holidays. I called ahead and was told the store would be open on Christmas Eve from 9-5. I made the trip over at 1230, only to find the store closed with a sign on it saying "Will Return at 10:05". I tried to call and of course, no one answered. Figuring I'd already made the drive, I waited outside the store for 30 minutes. In that time, four different people tried to go in and promptly left after seeing it was closed. Eventually, I gave up and left. I didn't get a hold of someone at the store until 1:50. Perhaps someone got the big hand and little hand confused on the "Will Return At" clock? Since I'm pretty sure not of all their stock is online, I really wanted to see everything that available in person. It was a little disappointing since I only get to come back home once a year. read more
