I've been twice now and the food is great! We had chicken fried steak & hamburger steak. All was good even the sides! This time, I had the fajitas & they were great. They are also reasonable compared to other places. The chips & salsa are YUMMY too. The peach cobbler with ice cream was so so excellent! Don't miss out on this one! Our waitress Isabella was so sweet both times we came in ~ actually all the staff. The atmosphere was great as well. I also liked that in the bathrooms had 2 toilets. Their beans were spot on tonight. The service wasn't great but three teenagers were running the front and it was slightly busy. It's a great place to stop if you have patience and the thought of cooking makes you want to pull your hair out. read more

Overpriced and service is slow. For four meals it was over $100 and we didn't get anything fancy like seafood or steak.

3rd time trying this place- consistently has bad service- don't check on you for drinks. if you need anything you have to flag down someone. food is overpriced and hot sauce was fermenting. side of strawberries for kids meal was not fresh, but frozen mush. $37 for 2 kids meals and thin chicken supposedly southwest and seasoned but bland and super thin. When I told them at the cashier, he just said sorry and walked away. No type of recovery. read more

Stopped in at the Yellow Rose Cafe for breakfast this morning. This is the 1st time I have visited this location. I was impressed with how clean the restaurant was for a small town and an older location. The breakfast food select use impressive (I will visit again to try more) with a combination of country cafe breakfast selects along with Mexican style breakfast selects. I had scrabbled eggs with mexican sausage, beans, rice with tortillas. The food arrived within 7 minute after ordering and the food was hot and fresh. The restaurant was about half full. The server was very polite and checked on us just enough to make sure we were okay. We will return again to try more food items next time I am in the area. read more

I went here because we just got a lake house close to here and i am trying all they places in town. The jalapeno poppers had clearly just come out of a bag in the freezer, everything on my dinner plate ran together and could not taste a difference between my rice and my beef. The salsa is pretty good however. They serve everything from fried catfish to chicken fried steak to mexican food which should have been an indicator from the beginning. There are much better places close to here. I wish i would have chosen taco bell over this read more

I came here for lunch one afternoon. It was within walking distance from where I was. It has that small place feel to it, and the staff are friendly. I also liked the food. It's mostly Tex-Mex. I had either the cheese enchiladas or a cheese chile relleno, which was nice to know that they had some vegetarian-friendly items on their menu. The weird thing about this place is the restroom situation. There are 2 toilets, but no "stalls". To make matters worse, there is also a sign asking people not to flush the toilet paper, but to put it in the trash cans. At least there are extra trash cans specifically for used toilet paper, & they have lids on them. I flushed it anyways, since this is Texas and not some third-world country! Your plumbing just needs updating! I would still go back there to try other dishes. I just may not go as often as Papa's, since that's more convenient of a walk. read more

I tried this place out on a suggestion from a local and I was very pleased. When I got there and saw that they did home cooking, Mexican food, and steaks I was leery of how good it would be. Most place I come across that serve multiple cuisines don't do any of them well. They give you chips and salsa as most places do. These were okay and quite honestly I wasn't very excited about what my home cooking meal I ordered would entail. Stick with me, this experience gets much better. One of the lunch specials was a chicken fried steak with two sides for $6.29. Once the food arrived my thoughts on the place changed quickly. The chicken fried steak was a nice portion and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The gravy was very tasty and creamy as well. I ordered mashed potatoes and green beans for sides. The potatoes were made fresh from real potatoes and the green beans were well seasoned and had chunks of bacon in them. Served along side was a basket of rolls which were light and fluffy. This is easily one of the best under $7 meals I've had in a very long time. The servers were friendly and attentive. Give this place a try. It's good. read more

This morning was my first time at the yellow rose cafe and to put it simply it was uneventful though the pancakes were subpar everything else was a hit and miss the skillet potatoes reminded me of what a wet dog smells like that same taste was also in the scrambled eggs I ordered if I go back I now know to ignore #22 but everything else was great the waiter was very attentive to our needs and the service was steady as soon as I was seated the food came out 5 minutes later and as I've been told by my eating companions the vindalu is very good if that is being spelled correctly it is amazing what u figure out when u take an anti south park approach and keep yourself hidden read more

Me and my wife came in for breakfast. No problem with the food but the service was terrible just like every other time we come here. Our waitress took our drink order but brought no menu, had to ask someone else for it.We never saw her again. If you can sit in Sonya's area you can't go wrong! read more

I have been here twice now. The first time the waitress never check on our table other than taking our order. My Fiancé seemed to enjoy it but I wasn't a fan. Even the water tasted dirty to me. Small amount of food and not really any customer service. The second time I was with my sister and the kids I watched. It took the waitress almost 20 mins to take our order and we were the only ones there. When our food came it was undercooked, not what we ordered and our drinks were empty but she didn't refill them. As it got busy with 4-6 tables our table became completely ignored and again were never checked in. It seems as though they are under staffed and the waitresses are not that great from my experience. I will most likely try it for a third time eventually but as for now I'm not a fan. read more

I ate here with my family. It smells like an ashtray in there. I can't believe people are allowed to smoke in restaurants these days. You feel like you need a shower immediately after eating there. So nasty. The food was average. The guacamole seemed to come from a store jar. I wanted fresh guacamole. I would eat here again once the stop smoking inside and gave it a good cleaning. So if you are a smoker than you may like it. If you don't smoke. Then I would pick another place. The smoke is terrible. read more

Rice and beans very good but chicken fried steak tasted like they served me old meat. Very chewy and not edible. Mac and cheese very watery with no flavor. I'm shocked that they would actually serve customers old meat. read more

Not the best breakfast I've ever had, and definitely not the worst. The two things I didn't care for was the gravy (it tasted like it had been made with chicken stock) and the biscuits didn't taste fresh-made. My husband ordered the home fries. His were over cooked and cold. read more

I have two favorite places to eat out at on the lake and this one is my #1 favorite! Wow, the food choices first of all are amazing, what a variety! Then it is always very fresh and so delicious. They give you hot sauce that is to die for and the thin crispy chips that i love. They give you very large portions of food as well. What ever I am in the mood for, they will have it. It's nice because everyone in the family has different food choices that they want most of the time and we can go here to and please everyone. When a customer is in the store and they are looking for a good place to eat, we always recommend the Yellow Rose! read more
