I was unsure of this place due to ratings but love to eat at family run local establishments. Everything about this was amazing. The waitstaff was great and gave us ample time. The prices on meals and specials were unbelievable. Our food was at the very top of our best Mexican food ever and closely resembled our all time favorite in taste. We both had top shelf margaritas for $7.99. They were really good too. We plan to eat here more times before we leave the area. The prices here make it comparable to buying things to cook at home. We also liked it that the tables were far enough apart that the noise level was low. This is a hidden gem. read more

I have been here many times, and this is by far the worst experience I have had here. There were a few good things like the chip and queso, the beef fajita, lemonade, and the entertainment. However, half of our party was not served their food, and had to go get food somewhere else. Also, the servers were very hard to get a hold of, if you needed something. But one of the better Mexican restaurants in town. read more

good quality, great price, nice people. wish the to go line didn't have a huge pot hole to china

Maybe we visited on an off night but it was really disappointing. The salsa was bland, it tasted they just opened a can of crushed tomatoes and dumped it in a bowl. We asked for queso and jalapeños but never got them. read more

Our local radio club, Cedar Creek Amateur Radio Club, does a weekly lunch at different restaurants. El Jacalito has policy for groups of 8 or more you can not have individual checks. We have asked for an exception and they have refused. El Jacalito is the only restaurant that has insisted on this policy for repeat business. We have a rotation 7 restaurants and they are the only restaurant not to suspend policy. Our lunch group ranges from 6-12 on average. I understand with a large family where a single payer is the norm and this is acceptable but with groups such as ours it's a pain in the ass.....Personally I like the food but their policy has left a bad taste. Just a FYI for groups... read more

Great food and service! The top shelf margaritas are very good! Street tacos and Carne Asada fajitas are delicious!

Nice people but with almost no one in there, the delivery of food was long. Food was just ok. Lots of mold on the ceiling. No thanks

If you order a to go order I would advise to let the manager in charge, take your order because it's the only way to have your order done correctly. My low review is due to the fact that when concerns were raised with the management, they only were concern in you not voicing your concerns, service and the food is good, but since they tie up the bags your order is in if you don't check you may get something else and be disappointed. read more

Went there last night and had a bad experience. I know it is a Mexican food place but I have seen several people order catfish plate so I thought I would try it. Two big filets cooked in old oil. The tartar sauce was in small packets (2). Just couldn't get over the old oil taste of the fish. My wife had Mexican food and she was satisfied. The waitress took about 10 minutes to come take our order. Hope this was just a bad day. read more

Our first time here because our friend a recommended their Friday night margaritas. We didn't get a very warm welcome. The place was pretty busy and we were told to sit anywhere. We walked to the back but could not stand the thick cigarette smoke in the bar so we found a table up front near the kitchen. The chips, queso and salsa were bland at best. We ordered fajitas and margaritas. The waitress, Wendy seemed a little put out that I had questions about the menu. The fajitas have a "sauce" poured over them that we didn't really understand. I would say the service was the biggest disappointment. I'll give the food 2 stars, margaritas 3 stars and service one star. Hey, we gave it a try and left a nice tip for Wendy. Maybe she was having a bad day? read more

Always open past 7 pm on Sunday's. Margaritas always good and never had a bad experience after 20 years.

Really good Mexican food. Large menu and very good lunch specials. Price is right. Place is old but clean. The recited beans were great and chips and hot sauce were very good. Fresh and hot. read more

This place has had its highs and lows for sure. But I've honestly had consistently great food for the last couple years or so. Been going here my whole life, probably will continue going here. read more

My family and I really enjoyed our dinner and the waitress was great! We will definitely be back.

Very good food and service. I'm surprised this place isn't busier. The chips are fresh and delicious and the salsa is yummy.

I have been coming to this establishment for 15 years. This is the best Mexican food for the money. Many places during Covid raised their prices to the extreme, but not here. We also love their frozen Margaritas. read more

Not the best but not the worst around the lake. Some of their dishes could use a little bit more flavor. They're always quick with our order and it's reasonably priced as well. read more

We have eaten here several times, this is the first time the food was sub-standard. Very disappointing! The biscuits were hard around the sides, gravy was cold, eggs over medium were not cooked in the middle, sausage was not cooked, just warmed. Totally not the norm. read more

Who knew this little dive would have such good food ? Aged interior but clean. Friendly service & excellent food. Street tacos are off the chain. Prices are very reasonable & it's a ton of food. Highly recommend. read more

The food selection is really good and I have had no issues with bad food. They have a good selection of drinks and they are usually busy, which is a very good sign. Only complaint I have is that there are not enough servers to tables so sometimes you do wait for refills and to order. read more

I always call ahead & go to the drive thru to pick up my food. The food is very good & the price is ok

Great Mexican food, excellent service. My favorite is the Migas. They serve breakfast all day. Try my favorite the migas!

I used to not be a big fan however within the last year I started to pop back in. Every time I go here I m more and more impressed! It's a very laid back, chill vibe, and the food is great. I recommend giving it a go. read more

This place was close by as I was getting off work, & it was still open. Parking was not a problem here, my server was friendly & helpful all night. No complaints about the restrooms, as I think they may have had 2 stalls, but I don't remember for sure. There were some vegetarian-friendly options on the menu. I may have had either a cheese chile relleno or spinach enchiladas. Whatever it was, it was delicious & I would order it again if I visited again sometime. They were out of Tres Leches Cake, but my server recommended some alternatives, so I had a praline cheesecake, which was delicious! I would love to come back here! read more

Food is very good. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Also nice that they have a drive thru!

Used to be good and also affordable. They raised prices and cut both dish size and quality. And please... please tell Southpaw Randy to get a new song set. Good luck weathering the next economic downturn... I'm not coming back. Just another lake area establishment that would be closed in a week if they completed in the big city. read more

A general run of the mill tex mex. Go on Saturday night only if you want to listen to really bad entertainment.

"4 time we have been to El Jacalito's and all 4 times the food is cold. I don't mean warm I mean cold. Wait staff not very responsive unless you come in and know the sever. We are done with this place. read more

Great Tex-Mex food, lots of seating, great prices and generous seating areas. Decor is dated and needs some upgrades. Very casual atmosphere so dress accordingly. Has mixed drinks and beer. Good for lunch time and dinner, not so much in between those times. read more

Went here with my parents on a Friday night while visiting Cedar Creek lake and had a blast. I really enjoyed the food, margaritas, and the live music!! You can't go wrong with this place. read more

Have been going to this place for years. This is my go to spot every time we come into town to visit. It can get a little on the loud side when the dude is up there singing, so if you are sitting close you have to yell at anyone amongst your table for them to hear you... That is the reason I gave this place 4 stars. Other than the really loud music, which some do enjoy, I have no other complaints. Food is always delicious. Wait staff are friendly as well. read more

This had been my favorite restaurant for many years. I recommended it to all my friends. The afternoon before Mothers Day this year one of my sons took me there to eat. We sat in the bar area we ordered and received our drinks and that was the last we saw of any wait staff. We waited almost 45 minutes, my son even called the restaurant. We heard the phone ringing and could see people walking around but no one answered the phone. We stopped to pay for our drinks but they hadn't even been entered into the computer. We got no apology, just the drinks were free because they weren't in the system. I have not and will not be back. read more

The food is mediocre at best. The service was lousy, the waiter literally did not come back to our table after giving us our food, until we were finished eating. The cashier and another waitress walked past our table several times, without asking if we needed anything, seeing that our glasses had been completely empty for some time. They sat by the window at the front most of the time glued to their cell phones. I will not return to this establishment. read more
