A couple years ago I made the decision to return to vinyl as my primary source for music listening. While it was unfortunate I was starting from ground zero having lost my vinyl records from the 60's and 70's during one of my many moves, Chattanooga proved to be a fortuitous spot to resurrect this hobby having Yellow Records here in my neighborhood. While this is not an overly large store, they effectively maximize their space to offer a great variety of both new and used albums. The value proposition is frequently accentuated via the many sales events offered both on-line and at the store, throughout the year. You need help, advice, assistance in tracking down a hard to find record, Ben and his team are jolly on the spot, each and every time. Calling all vinyl lovers! I highly recommend stopping in Yellow Jacket Records! Last weekend, my Mom channeled my Dad's spirit by wanting to go to the Hixson location of Books A Million and wanting to check out Yellow Jacket Records. Books and music - my Dad's two favorite things. While at Yellow Jacket Records, Mom found a free record by Harry Chapin's brother, who she and Dad had met many years ago. I found a rare record that Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger collaborated on as well as a classic Joan Baez album. The store owner and staff were so nice and fun to talk too too! Chattanooga"s best shop for new vinyl! This is a clean, well organized space. The owner has big plans for including a coffee shop and performance stage. It's located in a funky and upcoming neighborhood at the end of a Main Street. Prices are fair and staff is super friendly. Keep independent record stores alive! read more

Nice record store in a historic building. I would guess that they are new due to the small inventory and lack of reviews. Hopefully they can grow and offer a wider variety. Was in the mood to buy some mofi or other audiophile pressings; however they had none. They did have a decent classical collection that I was pleased to see. Perhaps my next visit in town will be more fruitful. read more
