UPDATE: The owner never returned any of my phone calls after this, and did NOT refund me. I was forced to rent a truck and drive from Atlanta back up to Chattanooga in order to pick up this item or otherwise I would forfeit the item and lose my $100. When the owner saw me again she said something along the lines of "I knew you'd be back" and never apologized. Avoid this place, the owner will always put money over the customer here. read more

Who needs black Friday or cyber Monday? Go thriftin' or hot up that local antique shop. This way you can buy some actual authentically unique and amazing stuff. Which is exactly what you all get your hands on at Refindery antique store. I love a good antique or weird oddities place and Refindery is a mix of both. They have vintage maps, giant taxidermies animal heads, antique metal signs, and a mountain out of reclaimed wood that would make Chip and Joanna shart themselves. I'm currently in the market for a Victorian framed picture to hang in the entry of my house, sadly I didn't find it here, but they do have a ton of old framed photos. There were two things I wanted to buy immediately, but my wife gave me a hard no on bowls. The first one was a replica of the head Falkor from never ending story, see my photos. The other was a giant taxidermy made bison head, which I would've definitely hung in our room. I was super excited when I walked in the door because there is so much stuff and a great mix of old and new. My first interaction with staff was a little cool. Please be careful in the store though! There are (one) steps throughout, so you have to look down a lot. I was walking through a section and stepped down, not seeing the step, and my arms came out to catch my balance and as I did, I accidentally knocked over a glass and it broke. Fortunately it wasn't antique. Someone came over and asked if I was okay. I apologized profusely, explained what happened, and offered to pay for the item. I finished my browsing and went up front to pay for the items I picked out and they did, in fact charge me for the broken glass. $15.00 - so not even the cost of the glass, but the retail value. I was disappointed they charged me at all. It certainly isn't a way to maintain customers. I'LL never be back. read more

I love shopping at the Refindery! No matter who you are, they have something for you. I like how the store has a variety of aesthetics: Farmhouse, primitive, MCM, Victorian, and more! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about products. For an antique store in the downtown area, their prices are awesome. The Refindery is truly like the store version of Mary Poppins bag! You know the bag she keeps pulling things from and you're like wait, that can't fit in there! The store just keeps going and you turn the corner and there's even more to see! The store goes on and on and is FULL of magical things and things that could totally be magic!! It is set up with many different vendors and makers. You can find pretty much everything from clothes, and jewelry, to doors and window panels. Vintage dolls, creepy photos on magnets, chachkies, trinkets and knickknacks! I love the way things are displayed and many displays have given inspiration in how I can move things around in my own home! Because there are many vendors/ suppliers a drop in to the store is never a waste of time! It's also a case of the more you look, the more you find! And yes, items change for the holidays! The staff are really cool and on some days they have the BEST doggie greeter!! I love this place and highly recommend a visit or 5! I also enjoy taking friends who come to town there too or just swinging by when in the hood. read more

I found a wonderful handmade quilt that matches one my mother made years ago. It made me pretty happy!

This is a very unique place. It's like walking into an episode of American Pickers. They have everything in here. A very large place with several rooms of stuff from different sellers. Just look through my pictures they tell the story here. We were looking for some older shelving, tables and stuff for a room and amazed at the items here. The blonde girl that was working here on Tuesday morning was very rude and snooty. My mother and aunt came with the intentions of buying an $800 piece of furniture. Due to the condition of the piece we asked what the best price was. Without even letting her make an offer this girl was a real rude and unfriendly person. This place has some really neat stuff but avoid this blonde girl at all cost! Her friend was rude when called on their rudeness as well. This place needs to get some nice people employed instead of these snooty rude girls. read more

Cool stuff. But my husband came through on a trip home from Missouri to Atlanta and paid $100 for an item that was slightly too big to fit in his vehicle. They wouldn't let him try to load it before purchasing, which is fair. What isn't fair is how they handled this development. They have refused to refund my husband even though he obviously had to then drive home to Atlanta without the item. This is a 100-mile drive. The store owner basically told him he would have to come back from Atlanta to pick it up. I could hear the employee and then the store owner on the other end of the call while my husband patiently and respectfully reexplained his situation and asked if they would consider a refund, and they were rude and dismissive. A business that lives and dies by store policy without even thinking about giving special consideration to extenuating circumstances like this does itself no favors. read more

Super neat consignment/antique shop. This is in my neighborhood of Highland Park and I finally got to go check it out. So much stuff!!! I wish I could make my old junkie stuff look half as good as these folks make "vintage" stuff look. I'll be honest here; frankly, I hate to shop. I've never been a big fan of meandering around a shop and looking at this and that. I want to go in, and find exactly what I want and get out. I just don't have the patience to stop and look at everything. I think I might be a tad ADHD. LOL. I'm sure I miss out on a lot of stuff this way, but I've just always hated shopping. Anyway, I went here with a friend who wanted to get something for her husband. I stopped in the front part of the store and of course there were lots of Christmas pieces to be had. My eye caught on a little painted picture of a chicken. Yup, a chicken. A chicken with a santa hat on. Yup, a santa hat. ha ha! Well my mom is a huge chicken freak. She has pictures of chickens, figurines of chickens, metal chickens, etc. But what she doesn't have is a Christmas chicken with a santa hat on. So I snatched it up. And - bonus - it was 20% off. They have lots of Chattanooga-themed items and old furniture, appliances, dishware, etc, as well as new crafty stuff. The place is filled to the brim. Or at least from what I say as I took a quick loop around. Definitely check them out. read more

A lot of everything here, and that's a good thing! Lots of architectural salvage, antique signs, clothing, furniture, kitchenware, are more. Even some kitsch, but not a lot. We've driven by this place many times and always said we'd stop in some day. After seeing a sideboard on their Facebook page, we went today and are so glad we did! The place is packed with all kinds of antiques from large armoires to comic books. Plan to spend a long time looking through everything, and even then you'll probably miss something, so look again as you're exiting. read more
