This local record shop is in a fading Hixson TN mall. They have a great and eclectic mix of new vinyl. There are tons of used bins, but not much excitement in hem. Def worth a stop if record shopping in Chattanooga. read more

I had a very odd experience. The store is a literal mess. I do not understand how you could find anything in this shop. Having to climb over broken equipment and random boxes is not my forte. When I did actually find something I noticed that the prices on the used LPs where inflated a bit and don't reflect what I'd consider to be fair market value. I may have been able to haggle but I was too annoyed by the mess to try. The odd experience came when the owner was demonstrating a used set of speakers with a crappy turntable and receiver. It sounded like tin foil being crinkled into a megaphone. But the customer seemed to love it??? And turned it louder!!? I was also annoyed to see a number of records displayed with a "not for sale" sticker. What is the point?? Keep it at home if you don't want to sell it. The unfortunate thing is that there isn't any other REAL option in this city for vinyl.... so discogs it is! read more

Record store located in an older mall right by a Sears?!?!?? They do have a solid selection of new releases and some older used titles as well. The only reason that this store looses a star is price. Some of the used LP's were priced at the top or above mint market value which they were not... They didn't have the new release title I was looking for, but they had many others and an interesting collection of Holiday LP's and Rap and Country. If I had more time and money I would have spent more time digging, but alas I was under a time crunch. I wish them luck because they are giving a strong effort to be a cool record shop. read more

It is located in the mall right next to the Ulta for those who want to solely visit this store. This record store is FULL of vinyls, cassettes, and record players. It's a little unorganized, but the woman at the time knew exactly what was in the store and helped me locate what I was looking for. The prices are reasonable for the records/cassettes, and they are all in good quality (just need a bit of cleaning for some). I purchased 11 cassettes that all work wonderfully, and I feel as though I got them for a steal! I of course had to dig for them, but I love doing that in general. In fact, I wish I had more time to dig through everything; however, I got there about 15 minutes before they closed. I live three hours away, but I would gladly make the drive to visit this store again. Also, they take military discount!!! read more

I went to For the Record for national record store day, and even though they didn't have the limited releases in stock by the time I arrived, I left happily and eager to return. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the inventory was impressive, and the atmosphere was fantastic. I'd recommend them to anyone I know who's looking for good records. read more
