    Smoked Chicken Wings
    Christina O.

Took about 20 minutes to be seen by a waitress, as other parties sat after us were being attended to. We ordered a couple of drinks and starters. The chicken noodle soup felt like it was canned, and the noodle to broth ratio could be improved. The ahi tuna roll was very good. The pretzel was not only impressive but perfectly salty, warm, and soft. It paired perfectly with the sauces provided. The chicken wings were very good as well and lathered well. The ambiance is dark and moody, i really think they should consider playing music indoors.

Reuben sandwich and fries. Sorry I couldn't wait and took a bite out of it lol

First time here. Located in the beautiful WEC hotel. There were six of us and we didn't have a reservation. The hostess said they were full inside, but said there was some seating outside so we took it. The waiter was very helpful and we were provided with menus and drinks immediately. He also brought over a heater since the wind was blowing, and it was a little chilly outside. They have a nice menu and I chose their Reuben sandwich with fries. They were busy so it did take about 35 minutes to get our food, but it was piping hot and delicious. I highly recommend.

This was a wonderful experience. We stopped at The Yellow Pony Pub and Grille at the Equestrian Center. We were seated outside in front of the entertainment. Because it is their Pub restaurant, the menu is limited. My wife ordered a Burger, onion Rings and a beer and I had Wings and a beer. We spent $103.78. the wings were over cooked and tough, but my wife loved her Burger. The atmosphere was comfortable and the music and balmy breeze helped to make the evening a repeatable experience for us. Great for upscale date night.....

First timer at the World Equestrian center. Everything is impressive and the grounds are all well groomed. The restaurant is just around the corner from the lobby inside the main hotel. The aesthetic was dark and of course equestrian themed. They have high top tables with saddle chairs. The wait for lunch was a bit long. We had to wait an hour for a table of 8. The cocktail and wine lists are actually more pages than the menu. Cocktails took some time to get out after ordered. I chose the shrimp and grits for my entree and I would have given it a 3/5. It had about 5 small shrimp, undercooked okra and way too much grits. The shallots were odd and were like taking a big bite of straight onion. I'd definitely give it another try with a different dish, but a little over priced for food.

Fun Irish pub vibes. Great for a quick bite and drink. Staff was friendly food was delish and it was in our hotel so no need to worry about drinking home.

My mom was in town visiting so we took her to WEC to attend service at the chapel, catch a dressage competition followed by lunch at the Yellow Pony. Located in the opulently designed Equestrian Hotel, I was looking forward to trying out their Reuben which my wife has tried and raved about. Upon being seated and presented the menu, we all gravitated towards their Reuben sandwich. We ordered a soft pretzel...and it was huge and delish. It came with a cheese and a mustard-based dipping sauce. My wife and mom shared a Reuben sandwich and a side of sweet potato fries. I ordered the Reuben as well with garlic parmesan fries. The Reuben was well prepared, with smoky pastrami that was finely chopped...so tender and savory. The sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside and airy inside. I couldn't finish my sandwich and fries and took them home for a later meal...still tasty. A very nice dining experience in a well appointed space. Service and ambience were top notch...and so was the price. Lunch for 3 (even with sharing a sandwich) with tip came out to just under $90.

Grilled chicken sandwich with french fries. 24 dollars

This place was on my bucket list to try. I didn't have a reservation, but I arrived on a Sunday evening. It was quite crowded, however I was seated immediately in a table near the bar. I tried the Sudden Impulse (15 dollars), a sweet drink with bourbon, lemon, and cherry. It was pretty good, but could have been a quarter horse stronger for 15 dollars. I had the chicken sandwich (24 dollars) for my main plate, but decided to go it grilled instead of fried. The chicken was tender and juicy, and I loved the arugula, pickles, and jalapenos. It provided a tangy and spicy kick. The fries were alright from the small ketchup provided.. For dessert, the cheesecake of the day was bourbon pecan (11 dollars), and it was small as a pony, but still rich and delicious. I was able to finish the whole thing. The service was friendly and helpful, even during a crowded night. The atmosphere is loud and equestrian themed. Many of the patrons might be showing at the equestrian center, so you will hear a lot of horse talk. There are saddle seats that are very comfortable to sit on, and I had a nicely padded English saddle. If you don't want to straddle a saddle, then there are plenty of regular seats as well. The bar is in the center, and the dining area around it is inviting. While the atmosphere looked formal, I was allowed inside with a T-shirt. Outdoor seating is available and I heard there are live music too. The restaurant is located inside the luxurious Equestrian Hotel at WEC. It can be difficult to see the signs to the hotel at night, but parking was free and plentiful. Being in a luxury hotel, expect it to be horsey expensive. My overall bill was about 65 dollars after taxes and tips, so best to better pony up the hay! However, it is worth the splurge for a nice meal. So hop on a saddle and pretend you are showing on a horse while enjoying the nice food and drinks.

We stop in after attending the Ocala Home and Garden Show. What can I say? We were greeted by two lovely ladies that were so polite. There was a short wait and was suggested to have a cocktail at the bar. Our bartender was Alejandro and was so friendly, knowledgeable about their spirits , his cocktail skills were so impressive!! Instead of getting a table we decided to stay at the bar. We order a light lunch. Spicy Ahi Tuna Rolls and Smoked Chicken Wings with a Bourbon BBQ sauce. Both were delicious! It was very busy but the sound level was amazing low. Our experience was so great that we are planning a weekend to stay at the hotel. Definitely worth a visit!

    Appetizer lobster rolls! Delicious!

WEC serves nothing less than the best. Service was splendid and food was great. We went for dinner on a when and didn't regret it.

Ask the Community - Yellow Pony Pub & Garden

Hello! We plan to visit in early January and our party of four adults will be accompanied by two well behaved dogs, each 50 lbs, leashed of course. Would they be allowed to dine with us on the patio? Will the patio even be open in early January?

Really best to call them directly to ask those questions!

    Is takeout available?

    Yes it is.....

    Do you accept reservations?

Hi Phyllis, the Yellow Pony Pub & Garden does not accept reservations at this time. All seating is first-come, first-served.

Decided on Horses and Hounds in Ocala for our weekend lunch adventure, after spending time…read moreattending the home and garden exposition at the World Equestrian Center. Once at the restaurant, we experienced an initial wait to be seated (10 minutes) Then after being seated, we had to exchange menu's for some reason, and there was some confusion as to who or whom would be our waiter/ waitress? We finally got our waiter "Chris" he was prompt, mater of fact, and professional. I ordered the spinach salad and a grilled chicken breast on the side, while Dawn ordered the fish and chips. The restaurant is clean with ample lighting over the booths and track lighting through out. I got to see a co-worker (friend) and her family which was pretty cool. The wait for service after our order was placed wasn't too long. The spinach salad was worth the wait and outstanding! The chicken was grilled to perfection and Dawn said her Fish and Chips with smashed peas were delicious. Our waiter, Chris made several trips to our table and made sure we were good to go. Overall, after a little minor and humorous amount of confusion; The meal and service turned out to be excellent. The price is about normal for the area, and just a little pricey for everyday dining. However, we will come back when we are back in the area.

My sister in law and her husband reside not far from this restaurant. We went there after visiting…read morethem and decided to spring for dinner somewhere they recommended. Sounded like a good choice, so off we went for what turned out to be quite a disaster! Now I'm not one to really ever give a bad review unless there were so many ridiculous unforgiveable mistakes and completely insane things done during a visit that made me quite angry enough to vent. THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE. My husband ordered the fish & shrimp dinner with steak fries done extra crispy, I ordered the beer cheese burger (before I knew how runny the beer cheese was) but with onion rings (an upcharge, but I don't really care for fries), my sister in law got the prime rib 8oz & ordered it medium well with a baked potato, my brother in law ordered a bowl of the broccoli cheese soup, a side order of mashed potatoes and one of macaroni & cheese (he recently had dental surgery and cannot chew well so needed soft food). The pretzel arrived we had ordered as an appetizer. It was barely warm, but we didn't care since we were starving! Time passed slowly, another 20 minutes went by. They cleared our pretzel hanger with the cups of dip that were pretty inedible and then another 10-15 minutes went by. I was just starting to get really anxious when finally our meals arrived. The waitress carried out the tray with our meals on it and starts to hand them out...and I notice there's no onion rings with my burger and no bowl of soup for my brother in law..."ummmm...what happened to the rest of our meal?" I ask. The waitress says "oh yeah...we're out of onion rings". "What?" I ask. "Can't you get something else?" the waitress asks me...not, WOULD you like something in its place, no, CAN'T was the word she used. "No, there's nothing else I really want." *I sigh and close the menu* "just give me the fries that normally come with the burger I guess", I say, knowing I'll never eat them. "But what about his soup?" I ask pointing to my brother in law. "We're out of the broccoli cheese right now, they'd have to fix a new batch and I would hate to make you wait for longer than you already have", she says to him "how about the tomato dill?", she asks him."No. I hate tomato soup", he says. "But I hear it's really good" she continues. *now he's getting angry* "NO" he says louder to her. "I don't LIKE TOMATO SOUP!" he insists. She turns on her heel and leaves. We're lucky she comes back with silverware and more than the little black drink napkins this time. We look at our plates closely, only to notice the food we'd been so looking forward to had obviously died in the window from sitting so long. The prime rib looks like it had been sitting there for almost a half hour and was rare, nowhere remotely CLOSE to medium well. My bottom bun is soggy from the watery beer cheese while sitting and the burger is cold. My husband's shrimp and fish, fried and steamed veggies are ice cold and look pathetic. The breading is claggy and mushy from oil and from sitting so long. My sister in law's baked potato is so stone cold that the butter won't even melt! Two little bowls (cups) of sides were all my brother in law got in the end. Both were cold. When we finally flagged the waitress down and told her this, she said it wasn't her fault, that she brought us the meals as soon as she was given them. She said she'd go get the manager for us, who arrived several minutes later. He said he'd take some percentage off our meals and was sorry; but here's the catch. I NEVER got my premium side of onion rings. I ended up with fries. That's what normally COMES WITH THE BURGER anyways. The burger and fries meal is listed as $13.00 and the premium sides are an extra $5.50. My burger with onion rings on the bill was $18.00, BUT I NEVER GOT THE ONION RINGS. They never took them off the bill. And the bowl of soup my brother in law never got? Still on the bill. The manager gave us a discount of $27 and change. But wait a minute. $14 worth of that bill was items we never received! So in actuality, he only gave us $13 and change off of a almost $100 bill for horribly greasy, cold food. What a rip off! When a customer asks you for a to-go box and you leave and come back without it and they remind you again, then you leave the second time and come back without it AGAIN...DON'T SNAP AT THEM when they AGAIN say "we really need a to-go box!". It's your tip on the line. Don't turn to me and say loudly,"I just got it and set it on the counter in the kitchen! I have to get it, so give me a minute please!!". I've asked you three times for one so don't go snapping at ME! Our first and last impression of Horse and Hounds Restaurant? Horrible customer service, terrible food, extremely high prices that do not match the food in quality NOR quantity. 2/10 definitely do not recommend and we will never go back.
