My wife and I rented electric bikes from here during our cruise. They are right across from the bus drop off. What a wonderful experience! The bikes are super easy to use and worked great. We covered 13 miles in about 3 hours and took them down to see the Fortress of the Bear. The team at Yellow Jersey was so kind and helpful. My mom and I had a fun four-day adventure in Sitka, and one of our highlights was a bike ride from downtown to Starrigavan and the spring water fountain. The Yellow Jersey Cycle Shop set us up right away, and we had the bikes for the whole day for a bargain. Along Halibut Point Road, we stopped at the crab stand by the cruise ship landing outside of town. Without those bikes, we would not have been able to explore Baranof Island as thoroughly. The views off the beaten path were incredible. Fortunately, we did not encounter bears. But, bear spray and bells are recommended. read more

The folks at Yellow Jersey are awesome! They're friendly, knowledgable, and patient. I would have purchased my commuter here if I had known about them sooner. They have a fair collection of bikes and accessories in a moderately sized showroom. They also rent out bikes at a reasonable price. I was surprised to find their prices were comparable to shops in Alaska's larger communities despite Sitka's higher cost of living. I ordered a new part for my bike over the phone with them and asked about shipping methods. Telling them I was in Juneau, one employee mentioned he was visiting Juneau on a special occasion and offered to hand deliver the part to me! Of course I accepted the offer and the part fixed my bike like a champ. read more

I bought a used bike from them for $300, with the assurance that it was all tuned up and good to go. I was told they did a lot of work tuning it up and it was like new, hence the price. Less than 50 miles of riding later, the back axle snapped. I asked directly how much it would cost to fix and didn't get a straight answer, then became sheepish and didn't want to "hound them" to tell me what it was going to cost. My bad.. should've hounded them. I came back to pick it up the wheel and learned that it had been a $60 job. I immediately asked what it would have cost to replace the wheel entirely and learned that a whole new wheel would have been the same price. I expect a mechanic to tell me in clear terms "Overhauling an axle on a low-quality wheel like this is frivolous and will result in high labor fees, and for the same price you could get a new wheel". Maybe this mechanic was bored. Every time I spend money there I leave feeling like I've been conned and that I should have done better research before talking to them. The staff can be friendly but they are not helpful, and the knowledge that they do have is used against the customer. read more

I would definitely NOT recomend Yellow Jersey to anyone. Unfriendly & not helpful employees. Was there to pay for a new bike & the employee blew me off & walked passed me not even acknowledging my presense to help someone returning a rental. I also tried 3 times ordering a basket for my bike. Which 2 years laters has yet to arrive. LOUSY SERVICE! read more

They took great care of us with renting mountain bikes and giving us directions to trails. The owner even lended me his personal bike for me to use because everyone else in my group were using all the rental bikes. He gave us great directions to a trail even though it wasn't a single track Mtn bike trail it had increadable veiws and was fun. Great bike shop with great Mtn bikes and other great gear with great people. read more
