Whether it's your first or tenth trip - Islandview covers everything with class and expertise. We also prefer fishing with our own poles versus taking turns with downriggers. Location is the best - staff is wonderful. Heading back again this summer - our group of six always rebook immediately. Lots of employees and with the exception of the one who took our money and the lady who answered our question if this was the entire aquarium there was not a single interaction with anyone in our party. Another delightful trail in Sitka!…read more Like the others it's: 1) Insanely well-maintained: not rocky, lots of boardwalks. 2) Easy to access from downtown: the trail quite literally starts in town, no car necessary. When I went on Memorial Day, there was still lots of snow at higher elevations. I went up to the shelter and turned around. Next time I hope to do the loop!

Justin knows the boat inside and out had all the gear ready, knew where to fish spent a good 10 hours out there. Will be back And his boss Niki was also very nice never met her, but I chatted with her many times via email.

We had the most epic day with Guide Garrett! The weather…read morewas gorgeous and the sites were stunning. Captain Conner kindly shuttled us to the dock location (a very generous exception when I misunderstood the instructions). Guide Garrett, powerful waterman of the Sitka Sound (think a younger more approachable King Triton of The Little Mermaid), created the most wonderful day. He knew pretty much everything about anything oceanic or Alaska history and ALMOST all the bird species (it was a Pigeon Guillemot, Garrett). We will never forget the memorable day (our deltoids are still living it). Thank you Adventure Sitka!

The waters are generally pretty calm on the west side of the island where this tour takes place, so you can get in really close to some amazing rock formations and see all the sea urchins, starfish, eagles, moon jellies, mussels, sea lions, and other wildlife. We did not spot any whales or bears on this trip, but we didn't miss them. It was most enjoyable. You can come as you are, they have all the gear you will need.

During our stop in Sitka, Alaska, we took a scheduled bus tour to the Fortress of the Bear. It was…read morea rainy day, which somehow made the whole experience feel even more authentic and Alaskan. When we arrived, we watched a short video about the history of the facility, how it came to be, and its mission: providing lifelong protection and enriching care to bears orphaned as cubs while helping reduce human-bear conflict through education, action, and community engagement. Before entering the viewing area, we were warned not to drop anything into the habitat because it would likely be lost or destroyed by the bears. In fact, there were two display cases filled with items that visitors had accidentally dropped and the bears had thoroughly demolished! There were only a handful of bears visible during our visit and no cubs, but it was wonderful watching them roam and enjoy their habitat. One unexpected highlight was spotting a bald eagle perched high in a nearby tree. That alone felt very special and quintessentially Alaska. The gift shop was also great, with lots of cute souvenirs and gifts. Knowing that Fortress of the Bear is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit made it feel even better to support them, as proceeds help provide care for these incredible animals. I found a great crop hoodie on the clearance rack. If you're visiting Sitka and enjoy wildlife, this is definitely worth a stop.

Kayak review Summary/ TLDR…read moreI would definitely recommend SWCK. Gear was outstanding, response time was fantastic, safety was exceptional and the day trip was very fun. Longer summary Mike was very responsive when I tried to book the kayak trip. We would be in Sitka for the day during our week-long Alaska cruise with Holland America (great cruise line, but that is another review). SWCK is a bit of a walk from where the bus drops you off at the visitors center, but that wasn't a big deal. Walking across the bridge to to SWCK gave us a great view of Sitka. Mike was ready with all the gear and kayaks. We let him know that we had to be back in time to get on the boat and he definitely gave us enough time to get back. We were 2 adults, an 11yo, a 9yo, and an 8yo. The adults have kayaked a couple times before and the kids were new to it. Mike is experienced with younger kayakers as well as older kayakers (he has *a lot* of experience). After a good safety and technique talk, we set off for a beach for lunch and then saw a whale in the distance, given our strength and ability to kayak he changed course so we could get a closer look at the whale and she was beautiful. We also saw sea lions, sea otters, and bald eagles. Since Mike is so experienced with kayaking and taking photos, he took photos and videos of us the whole time and airdropped it to me at the end, which was awesome. The weather was wonderful. Needless to say, Mike is very personable and loves what he does. Thank you for letting us share the day with you, Mike. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

Forrest picked us up right at the dock and immediately made us feel welcome. He truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a positive and memorable experience. We challenged ourselves, stepped outside our comfort zones, and had an absolute blast flying through the air. This was one of the best excursion experiences I've ever had (and we've done many!).
