$58 dollars for a 2 mile trip and Yellow Cab don't care!!!!! I had to call the police on this guy and he still later re-ran my card and charged an extra $50!!!! On November 11th, I ordered a Yellow Cab to go from a friend's house on 16th and Detroit to the Pavilions at the 16th St. Mall, NEVER, EVER, again!!! Got in the cab, told him I needed to go to the Pavilions on the 16th St. Mall but didn't know the exact cross street. Driver told me there were lots of Pavilions on the 16th St. Mall, I told him no, there was only one. Then he said that I would go to Larimer, I disagreed and said that once we crossed Broadway I would let him know where to let me off. It's a straight run one-way on 17th, turning onto 18th, then across Broadway and should take 10 minutes at the very, very, most (it was 6.30 p.m. so no traffic). The driver did absolutely everything he could to prolong the trip, e.g. whenever he was nearing a green light he would put his foot on the brake and change lanes until the light changed to red, and, when I asked him to stop doing that he laughed at me. He also asked how I was going to pay and I informed him that I had told the dispatcher I would pay with a credit card. He starting waving his arms and said that the credit card machine wasn't working (I now know why he did this). As we were about to cross Broadway his attitude was pissing me off to no end at this point so I asked him to let me out, but, HE WOULD NOT LET ME OUT OF THE CAB!!!!!! It's one thing to travel a few yards so one can pull in safely, but, this guy would not stop!!!! He kept saying he was taking me to Larimer, I started shouting at him to let me out, again, he laughed at me, and finally pulled in at California, 3 blocks beyond Broadway. Only that I was shouting at him I believe he would have kept going to Larimer.
While he was driving and wouldn't let me out I told him that I would only pay for as far as where I had asked to be let out of the cab, but no, he wanted to charge me for the extra 3 blocks (I know, it's not a lot of money, but this guy had already milked the trip enough,
and, on principle, I refused). He said he'd call the police and reached for his phone, but, as
soon as I said "go ahead, call the police", he stuttered and put his phone down from his ear. I
told him that I would call the police myself, which I did. Meanwhile, he kept the meter running and was pointing at it saying "you'll pay", i.e. whatever the ultimate charge on the meter would be. The police arrived, and, after talking with us separately, they told me that the driver agreed to charge me the original $8. He made out one of those triplicate paper credit card receipts, brought it to me, and, even though we were with the police, he still tried to add extra money to the $8. I pointed this out, the police told me to write in the figure myself, which I did, and then I signed the credit card receipt. So, by now I was extremely late for my appointment at the Pavilions, but, not only that, I then had to run from 18th and California to the Pavilions on 16th and Tremont (one block from Broadway) to get where I wanted to go (I'd have been faster walking from my friend's house at 16th and Detroit to the Pavilions than taking a Yellow Cab). But, that's not all, 2 days later I'm looking at my bank a/c online and notice two charges on my credit card from Yellow Cab, one for $8, the other for $50!!!! Despite my signing for $8 in front of the police, this thief later re-ran my credit card for a further $50!!! Now I know why he claimed the credit card machine wasn't working, and, to honest, I've not doubt he's done this before to others. I've called Yellow Cab many times, left voicemails, and gotten no response! It appears that Yellow Cab do not care that they have dishonest drivers working for them, no wonder Uber's doing so well!!! read more
