There isn't a lot that I can say about my procedures other than they couldn't have gone any better. After both, Dr. Choi called me from his home on the evenings of the procedures to make sure everything was OK. He also offered his home phone in case I needed something. I've had something called Tori under my gums. They're small bony growths. I think it's pretty common, but I had one that was sharp and was starting to cause problems. I received a quote at one point for about $5,000 to remove two spots. I really only needed the one removed as the other wasn't a problem at all. During my graft procedure, Dr. Choi removed the troublesome spot and refused to accept any sort of compensation. Not only was this incredibly kind of him, but it helped me avoid future expense, pain and recovery. While it may not seem like a big deal, it was. By doing this for me, Dr. Choi puts himself on the hook for any liability or complications resulting from that work. That's a pretty big deal and I'm grateful to have met this man and to have had him do my work.

After my appointment at check out I was asked to pay $178. When I asked why I was told that's just what they charge. So I went ahead and paid it hesitantly. Several months later they sent me another bill for $145. When I called the office and asked why, they said it was for the CT scan that they did. And I remember having a conversation with the assistant prior to getting the CT scan and asking if I would have to pay for that scan. Since one was already done by my referring dentist I don't want to have another done unless there would be no charge. They had me wait a long time while they checked if it was covered then I was told that it's free of charge. And now they are requiring me to pay the $145 months later because apparently it's not covered since one was done by my other dentist- which I specifically told them. I think it's bad practice for the office side of the business. The doctor was very pleasant and nice but I will not be getting my treatment here due to the devious way the office conducts its business.

For example, at the start of the pandemic, she quickly acquired the latest health-safety equipment that enabled her to continue serving her patients without hazard. Her office and its location comes close to "luxurious," as well as just simply lovely, comfortable and convenient (easy access from HWY 680 in San Ramon, fairly near Costco, etc.) For all this, one might anticipate top-of-the-line billing, but no, compared to charges from other dentists dating from 10 years ago, not unreasonable. Especially, considering all the extra expenses I would be paying for the unnecessary procedures that had been proposed - and on one occasion "demanded" if I were to become a patient. I recently dropped my retired-teacher dental insurance and am now on self-pay, which turns out to be cheaper, even given a new crown looming in the future. The courtesy and sincere interest the entire staff shares with you reinforce the comfortable feelings you feel the first time you step into the building itself, even before reaching the office. And an extra plus: highly skilled hygienists...Tiffany, for one, is the best ever !
