They are usually busy and we've always been helped within minutes of sitting down. Friendly, accommodating and QUICK! Food is... to die for. - Salad and clam chowder always tastes so fresh. Which is awesome considering it's really easy to mess up seafood. - Cheese fondue and bread is... no words. No. Words. Soooo damn good! - Meatloaf sandwich is cooked perfectly, comes on a warm bun and has good sauces. Strong pours are putting it lightly. Even the wine comes in a full glass. A nice warm, welcoming bar with good food and good servers. We stopped in here the other night because we were in the mood for pub grub and we weren't disappointed. We got the Grilled Pretzel for an appetizer and it was delicious, the beer cheese they serve it with is fantastic! For our entrees, I got the Ye Olde Cheddar Burger with a cup of the clam chowder and my boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich. The burger was big and tasted great, the clam chowder was good, if not exceptional, and the pulled pork was well done, very tender and not too sloppy. Also, their fries are awesome. But let's try the food, that's why I came here. Order the special -- shepherds pie, my favorite pub food! Ground beef, carrots and peas, fresh herbs, sautéed with tomatoes in red wine and Worcestershire sauce, and then baked to golden brown perfection under creamy mashed potatoes. Sorry, but no. I received a large soup bowl of barely seasoned, soupy ground beef with nary a carrot or pea in sight. It looked liked dog food and tasted like cardboard purée. It was topped with a pound of chunky mashed potatoes. Where is the wine & Worcestershire gravy? Where are the chunky carrots and bright green peas? This feels more like a way to use up yesterdays anemic bolognese sauce and half/heated attempt at mashed potatoes. If it only had an ounce of flavor, perhaps I could have eaten more than three bites. Ye Olde Pub, do some research on the proper shepherds pie. Invest in fresh herbs & veg, cream for potatoes and Worcestershire sauce for the beef, and for the love of this pub staple, put the pie into an oven to turn it crispy golden brown. After an aggressive hike in 1000 Acre Park, my friend and I needed a place to eat and this came up as close by. It's very rustic on the outside. The only parking I saw was on the street, but we were able to find some. I assume it was a halloween decoration, but I really enjoyed the skeleton they had seated at the bar for a drink. The food is TOP NOTCH. The pino burger was fantastic and the fries were perfectly made and seasoned. I will definitely be coming back here for future meals. This is a great neighborhood bar in downtown Troutdale. Right along the main road, kid friendly and dog friendly also. We came in to get a drink and some food. They have a great side salad, black bean wrap, and you have to try their potato wedges with beer cheese! Last time we came in we met the owner and he was working wherever he was needed. After a really nice, but steep, hike on the gorge one gets hungry..... or hangry. Granted, there were probably a few other places along the highway, we ended up in Troutdale. Why had I never been out here? There is a quaint little downtown area and several food establishments. One of them being Ye Ole Pub. Nothing wrong with some pub food or a juicy burger and a hopped beverage to stave off an angry stomach. We got there and of course the outside of the location is set up with its Old English style font and wood to make it look, well old. Wooden tables and benches and playoff football on several flat screens around the pub. A pool table off in the back of the place and a small selection of beers on tap, more in bottles and cans. The women running the bar were superfriendly and the menu had many of the normal apps and usual bar menu options. There was a decent selection for burgers and the western with bbq sauce, cheese and an onion ring looked to be the choice for me..... although there was one with bacon, ham and an egg on it but it was $12. At $9, the western was a simpler option. The burger came on a cibatta roll with mayo as well and a side of seasoned fries. I asked for med/rare and it came out more med/well but the burger was seasoned well and to be honest, I was just plain famished so I ate. We got a couple beers and a kids meal for my buddies daughter. For three of us with food and drinks we got out of there at barely over $30, not bad. Being that we tend to hike out on the gorge more frequently, we can see heading back to Ye Olde Pub again, hopefully soon. Enjoy. read more

It was a warm summer night, and we decided to stay local with friends this evening. I know the pub has changed names and ownership a few times since it opened. This was my first experience at the cozy pub offering some twists on English fare and a full bar. The dining area is small, but accommodating with booths lining the perimeter. There's even a patio if you'd like to sit outside. We tried the Chicken Cobb Salad, The Bleu Burger & Macaroni with Bacon. Cobb Salad: Excellent! Fresh veggies, big chunks of grilled chicken, crispy bacon, blue cheese crumbles & awesome homemade Blue cheese dressing. I will come back here specifically for this salad. Macaroni & Cheese: Pasta was cooked perfectly with a rich & creamy cheese sauce. You can add chicken or veggies or bacon to it. So good & comforting. Blue Burger: My only complaint is that I wish the bacon had been more crisp. It was too fatty and undercooked for my liking and it needed additional sauce. The top bun was dry. I'll find my way back down the hill for another drink & Salad here before the summer is over. read more

Outstanding customer service! We sat outside because we had or dog with us. Upon hearing we had a dog, a bowl of water was brought out. Once our order was taken, a tray was brought out for the dog. It began to sprinkle so they put us at a table with a bigger umbrella. When it began to pour they found us a table inside as we were getting drench! We put the dog in the car. They seated us at a nice big table and our food was ready. We were them consistently look d upon. Two guys, very friendly, took great care of us. Food was good. I suppose I should begin with the caveat that there's not much to choose from in Troutdale, so one needs to temper one's expectations. Nevertheless, I've accidentally happened upon more than my share of awesome small town dives in my day. It's one of the simple joys of life in my view. And with a name like "Ye Olde Pub", I figured it could go either way. All of that said, and borrowing from the faux 'olde English' theme, methinks this place isn't very goode. I stopped in for lunch with a friend of mine a few days ago after a cold hike in the Columbia Gorge. We were chilly and hungry when we walked in. This was early afternoon on a Thursday. We were the only ones in there at first. The waitress/bartender (bar wench?) was extremely personable and friendly. Only four taps, one devoted to the dreaded Coors Light, but they did have Ninkasi IPA. So far so good. The soup of the day was African Peanut with chicken, and my friend asked if she might have a sample. The amiable bar wench presented my friend with a sample, and offered up 'ye olde dirty spoone' with which to eat it. My friend rubbed ye olde dirty spoone clean on the tail of her shirt with a grim and determined stoicism, and we both did sup on thine soup sample. And verily, that soup sample was not goode. Soon additional patrons arrived. Twas a windy day at Ye Olde Pub, and the front door hath a poor clasp. The wind would blow the door right open, drafting my cold travelling companion and me with gusts of icy cold air. So thereafter, as each new highwayman, traveller, or wayfarer arrived, mine companion would stand to clasp the door shut. For sooth. I kidde thee not. I ordered a burger with ye olde onion rings. Their burgers come on a ciabatta bun, which is unfortunate. It always ends up being 'waye too much bune', which throws off the critical bread to burger ratio. I ended up chawing on this toothsome loaf wishing I could taste ye olde grounde beef, but alas twas not to be. They're trying to kick it up a 'notche' with the 'fancie bune', but they'd do well to simply use a regular hamburger bun. Onion rings were fine, for sooth, but then again its hard to screw up onion rings. Long and short of it? Pretty lousy food. Limited taps. read more
