Stopped by YC Seafood Hotpot in Virginia Beach and honestly, I wanted this to be an easy 5-star review. The food was genuinely delicious, the selection was incredible, and the restaurant itself was spotless, bright, clean, and by far one of the best hotpot setups I've experienced. I've been to several hotpot spots, and none matched the variety this place offered. Unfortunately, customer service completely overshadowed what should've been a great experience. When I finished my meal and asked for the check ($68), I was told their credit card machine wasn't working. Thankfully, I had a $100 bill in my wallet for emergencies. Problem solved... or so I thought. My server took my bill to the cashier/manager, Sandy, who marked it with a counterfeit pen, then sent it back saying there was "a problem" because it "didn't change color." I was immediately offended, it's real money, legal tender, and instead of simply explaining a policy on older bills, I was made to feel like I handed over fake cash. Then the explanation changed: apparently their bank "doesn't accept old bills." So which was it, counterfeit, or just old? If older bills truly aren't accepted, there should absolutely be a sign posted clearly at the register or entrance, just like many businesses openly state they won't accept bills larger than $50 or $100. Customers deserve to know policies upfront before being embarrassed mid-transaction. If old bills aren't accepted, reject them on sight. Don't mark someone's money first and imply it's fake. At that point, I offered my card, despite being told the machine was down. I waited over 10 minutes, couldn't even get a receipt, and was then told to wait another 20 minutes while other customers were already saying they'd been waiting close to 30. I had obligations to get to and simply couldn't sit indefinitely because of their payment system issues. As I left, I was chased outside and told I needed to pay my bill, which I fully intended to do. I do not steal, and I will absolutely return to settle it. But after being publicly embarrassed, having my legal cash questioned, and then being expected to wait endlessly because of their technical problems, I left feeling frustrated, disrespected, and honestly humiliated. YC Seafood Hotpot has amazing food and outstanding variety, but service matters just as much. One bad interaction can completely change the experience, and unfortunately, that's exactly what happened here. Fair is fair. read more

Family and I enjoyed another outing at YC. As always service is great, the lady that works the front always says hello and stops to chat now like we are old friends and I love it. It was slower than usual for a Friday night which as a person who has ran restaurants I know that can be scary. I hope it's because the weather is slightly improving and not the fact that our economy is suffering and many people have to choose between gas for their car or a wonderful meal out. They're making changes here and there to better suit the restaurant- so far it's still stayed the same cool spot. Always enjoy going there. I have my usual foods I go for- always the seafood boil and crawfish, lobster and scallops. I'm a creature of habit! As long as these don't go away I'll be a repeat customer forever! My friend and I decided to dine in at the new, YC Seafood Hotpot on Friday night. We arrived at 6:30pm and it was extremely packed! The wait was 45 mins to an hour but since we really wanted to try it out, we decided to wait the hour. Once we were seated, the server explained the menu to us. We were able to choose a soup base from the variety of different broths they offer. Sushi rolls and skewers were also available for us to order as well. All of the Hot Pot items were located at the buffet along with other hot, food items as well. The buffet included items such as Fried Rice, BBQ Chicken, Fried Shrimp, Chicken Wings, Clams, Crawfish, Oysters and an array of raw items for the Hot Pot. Another area included fresh vegetables, ramen and udon noodles along with a variety of mushrooms. I will say, it was a bit of a balancing act getting all of the items from the buffet area to the table since mostly all the food items were in their own separate dishes. I had to make a few trips back and forth from the buffet. Once we had everything we wanted, we started adding our raw foods like beef and shrimp to the Hot Pot along with our noodles. I chose the Hot & Spicy Base but it tasted like spicy water. My friend chose the Vegetable Base and she enjoyed it. Thankfully, there was also a sauce station near the buffet to create your own sauce, which helped a lot. We ordered a sushi roll along with the chicken skewers but I wasn't a huge fan of either. The Hot Pot was decent but my favorite was the Fried Rice and BBQ Chicken from the buffet. For a limited time, they have a 50% off special offer for 'dine-in' only customers so I'm sure that's what brought the crowds of people out. The restaurant was nice and the servers were pretty friendly but I wasn't a fan of grabbing my own food and drinks. YC recently opened and right now, they have 50% off dine in only until March 19! It is all you can eat hot pot with some hot items on the menu as well as on the buffet. Drinks and desert are included in the pricing. I love that there is a huge variety of seafood, meat, and veggies to add to your hotpot, and it was all very fresh. There are about 6 different base options and a variety of sauces and spices for you to mix in. I like that they give mix in recommendations since I had never done hotpot before. We did the vegetable broth and the fish maw/chicken broth! Both were good, but the fish/chicken was much more flavorful. I also tried the rainbow roll and deep fried salmon tempura roll. The rainbow was great, but the salmon roll had u expected cream cheese in it. The beef skewers were good but were super tiny. Now for the not so good. I did not like that they give you a base but then continue to top it off with hot water. They never give you more of the actual seasoned base. While pouring the extremely hot water, the waitress was getting it all over the table. While she did apologize, she didn't even try to assist in helping with the hot spill. Another thing is buffet hygiene. While all of the ingredients were very fresh, there were lots of kids picking over things, people coughing without covering their mouths, and the drink area was a mess. The floor was soaked and there was spilled soda everywhere (most likely due to the number of unattended children). I don't think children should be allowed to the buffet and drink area unaccompanied, and I think maybe they should keep sanitizer stations close or do more clean up. I had to make myself not think about all the germs lol Overall, I enjoyed my meal and the variety offered. I am not sure I would try it again as a buffet but would definitely do take out depending on how that works. I definitely recommending trying at least once for yourself! YC Seafood Hotpot recently opened. They are in the Parkway Plaza Shopping Center. They occupy the space where Happy Buffet and Sushi King once held. My visit here was on February 12, 2026. I had seen signs about this place for a little while. I had also gotten ads in the mail through Valpak about 50% off for the first month, so I figured it would be worth trying this place. I had never done a hot pot place before this visit. Parking wasn't an issue and there is ample parking available in this shopping center. Upon entering the first door, there was a prize game type of thing and the name of the place on the wall. Once entering the second set of doors, we were in the main area for the restaurant now. We were greeted by someone when we came in. He took us on a quick overview of what they had to offer and then went to our table. It wasn't too busy at the time since it was around 2:30 pm. Our server came over to the table and asked us what skewers, hot pot base, and sushi we may want to get. I started with a shrimp skewer and my mom started with the shrimp skewer and beef skewer. You can only order up to two items at a time for that. For the base, I went with the hot and spicy and my mom went with the vegetable one. I tried to ask about how the hot pot works and that type of thing but didn't get an actual answer to it. If anyone knows more about hot pots, feel free to let me know in a chat. They have Pepsi products, tea, and coffee. Drinks are already included in the buffet price. At that point, we went up to the buffet area to get some food there. I went for the Fried Shrimp, Grilled Chicken and a Black Pepper Chicken. There wasn't as much a selection from things that I like. One thing I noticed for the stuff I had gotten from the buffet area, the hot foods weren't that hot. I did say something about to our server and they brought a new set out, but even that new set was lukewarm at best. The stuff coming from the cooking station were always hot though. Overall, this was just an okay experience for me on this visit. I'm not sure I'd want to come in when it goes to full price. The service was okay and I think our server was probably still learning things here during this first month of opening too. There is a 1% surcharge if you pay with a card instead of cash. When we arrived around 5:15 PM on a Wednesday, we were seated immediately. Even though the restaurant itself feels large, there actually aren't a ton of tables, and the place filled up quickly. Before long, people were waiting all over the restaurant. Some guests were waiting at the bar area, though the bar doesn't serve drinks and you can't eat there. It makes sense once you see the setup since there aren't hotpot burners at the bar, but it was a bit surprising at first. The food selection is impressive. There are lots of meat and seafood options, all laid out buffet-style, along with a good variety of noodles. Everything you choose to cook in your hotpot comes from the buffet, and it's all included in the set price. Just a heads up: the amount of choices can feel a little overwhelming. If you struggle with decision fatigue or executive dysfunction, be prepared to take a moment to figure out what you want. At the table, you order your soup base from the server, and you can also request sushi and grilled skewers, which are brought out separately but are still included in the price. One thing that stood out was how the soup base refills were handled. When the broth got low, it appeared they were simply adding hot water rather than refreshing the flavor. We didn't notice any additional seasoning, broth concentrate, or bouillon being added, so the flavor gradually became more diluted over time. The drink station got messy pretty quickly, mostly from kids refilling drinks and spilling things around. It's self-serve, so it seemed like it was hard for staff to keep up with cleaning it. On the positive side, the raw meats on the buffet were properly covered, which is great from a food safety standpoint. Tongs weren't initially provided at the table, but they were available if you asked for them. Service was about what you'd expect for a buffet--attentive enough without being intrusive. One final note: I don't believe they sell alcohol, in case that matters for your dining plans. We visited on a Monday evening thinking it wouldn't be busy during a weekday but we were wrong. We waited about 10mins and quickly got seated. We got to glance at the menu for maybe 5mins and rushed to order after being seated as they were taking our order for everything. We then proceeded to grab food items from the bar area both hot and hotpot items. They had a big selection. Lots of hot pot items from seafood, meats and veggies and a sauce bar so you can make your sauces. The drinks are included and I thought boba was but it was just milk tea included no boba balls - milk tea or taro milk tea and then of course the soda and other juices from the fountain. The hot menu items were scarce. They took a while to refill items, some got refilled and some were left empty. We proceeded to eat hot pot while waiting for our order of skewers and sushi rolls but by the end and after ordering sushi twice we never received the sushi rolls we ordered, so that was disappointing. They have a deal right now and it's 50% off so if you want to check it out, I would recommend you go visit now. I don't know about paying full price which is over $30 pp. read more

I was afraid of my mind I hyped this place up and it wouldn't be that good. Actually, I don't think I hyped it up enough in my mind! The meat skewers you can order have a bunch of seasoning on it. And it's good! The crazy part is, that was probably my least favorite thing of the night. The hot pot broths were extremely mild. But my kids said she actually like the mushroom better. I like how you can get real wild like chicken feet all the way to french fries. They have a hot bar with soups, cooked Chinese dishes and little things for the kids. Hot pot had meat, seafood organ meats and a bunch of veggies! I like how you can just walk up, get a plate of what you want and enjoy. I also really enjoyed the sauce bar! I love sauce. Bubble tea flavors without the bubbles. Little ice creams at the end. This place was totally awesome. Service was pretty quick. It was actually really busy. I'm not sure how else to describe this place except as the Asian buffet equivalent of Golden Corral. The quality is about what you'd expect for a very inexpensive all-you-can-eat lunch. If your priority is getting a lot of food for a low price and you're not particularly concerned with ambiance or authenticity, it may work for you. The food was generally edible, but nothing stood out. The hot pot was especially disappointing--it tasted more like seasoned MSG water than a true hot pot broth. I didn't enjoy the music, the hot pot setup felt awkward, and none of the prepared dishes impressed me. I skipped the sushi, though it looked pretty average. One positive is that beverages are included, which honestly may be the best value here. They also offer hibachi, although I didn't try it. Maybe my experience was influenced by trying to make healthier choices, but overall I wasn't impressed. I've certainly had worse meals, but I wouldn't return or recommend it unless your main goal is simply an inexpensive buffet. read more

Rony was our waiter & they were very attentive & made sure to answer any questions & was very helpful. Actually everyone who worked there was very nice. It's undergone quite a renovation & is a very open, modern space with fun lights & modern decor. I was surprised there wasn't more people there. We took advantage of the half off til February 19 deal & came in on a Tuesday around 8pm & were one of maybe four or five other groups finishing up. For an AYCE buffet & hot pot under $20, it's definitely a deal you can't beat. We are going to try to go again to take advantage of the deal & see if they have different bar offerings. read more

They have SUSHI, SKEWERS, HOTPOT, and a whole row of HOT FOODs including crabs, seafood boil, and shrimp tempuras! It was incredible!! They had everything possible for Hotpot meats and veggies! The whole food spread at YC Seafood Hot Pot during lunch. Not shown is the soda and boba station. My ratings; Food varieties 10/10 Hot pot soup 5/10. I had the tomato and mushroom soups and both were too bland for me. Hot pot food 10/10 Surprisingly they have a lot of choices including crabs, clams, beef tripe, squid, quail's eggs etc. Sushi station 6/10 You have to order from the server so I ordered a couple and the were just so so. A non spicy wasabi paste sure didnt help. I hope they change the wasabi that they had to a different brand because what they have was bad. Cooked station 8/10 I only had the tempura and they were pretty good and tasty. Soda/boba station 10/10 Other ayce places usually don't include drinks but this place does so that's a huge plus. I came here for dinner at it was $28 pp for the ayce on a weekend. This included a free fountain drink or self serve boba, sushi including sashimi, and other buffet items. For the hot pot broth I got tomato, hot and spicy, chicken seafood , and a pork. Out of those my favorite were the hot and spicy then tomato the other two were just alright. There were a good amount of sauces to use and make. Meat selection was good, I just wished they served it in a big tray rather than pre-portioned which were quite small (had to grab multiple trays of the same meats). The sashimi was quite good! Staff were friendly and did an excellent job of removing plates from the table. Note there is a 1% credit card fee which is better than other restaurants that charge 2-4% fees. We tried YC Seafood and Hotpot after seeing a post about their recent opening and were pleasantly surprised at the selection of different menu items. From traditional hotpot faire to AYCE sushi and a generous selection of seafood (including king crab legs), YC Seafood casts a wide net for all types of eaters. The meats and greens are packed on individual plates, making it difficult to control portioning. Otherwise, we had a great experience and will definitely return! This place was a better hot pot restaurant than others we have visited in this area. There are so many ingredient options for the hot pot, as well as a wide variety of hot food items. We visited during the 50% off discount price--& honestly, it's not worth more than what we paid during the special discounted price. We got there when it opened, so there were not a lot of diners. The waitress was kind, but hardly checked on us. The place is large and well lit. Honestly, many of the dishes (plates and bowls) were dirty, which is a major reason we will not return. I believe this is the sister restaurant to Ocean Grill Buffet in Virginia Beach. I swore some of the same waiters from that location here LOL! This restaurant differs as it has hot pot with a buffet to pick your hot pot choices. I found some very unique ingredients like beef tongue and stomach for an examples. This gives you an opportunity to try out things you may not think of before. There's also prepared hot food like fried wings, fried rice, fries, eggrolls, green beans, crab boil, sushi, soups, skewers and more, so it gives you other food to have as well. One of the newest buffets in the area! They have a special going on where every adult price is $17.99 for their weekend dinners! I would say this place is 80% AYCE hot pop with a lot of hot pot ingredients including lobster, oysters, allllll the meats and fixings. The other 20% is maybe 10 hot buffet options and sushi and meat skewers. Some of the things I liked the most was their escolar nigiri and their beef and gizzard skewers. I was really hoping they had more hot buffet items. Drinks are also included in the 17.00/PP which is nice. The place is very clean and our server was nice and checked up on us a good amount. The skewers were alright and so was the hotpot. It was very clean inside and a couple of options to choose room. The servrs where nice and checked up on us. However, We went a second time during the week day lunch and it was saying the price was $35 no matter what. According to person commenting for the, that they forgot to put that it was only priced lunch and dinner for the opening week. Definitely not worth it for $35. read more

There is a new Hotpot restaurant in town, and currently it includes Sushi, Chinese food, and Beverages in the price! We decided to try this out for our son's birthday, and he was more than excited to try it out cause he loves sushi and he loves hot pot and hates having to choose one or the other. When we walked in it was clean and brightly lit, we were greeted by a friendly staff member and she quickly let us to our table. Evan served us and was excellent!!! Very attentive and always removing dishes and checking up on us but not to the point of annoyance. At one point Mandy came over and asked how everything was and she was very kind and was constantly busy cleaning and stocking items. We started off grabbing drinks, there was a full soda fountain, boba teas being mixed up, and more. There were the options of adding jelly's and boba to the milk and taro teas (don't forget the boba straw)! The strawberry tea was a favorite of ours. We walked around and got what we wanted for our hotpots once we ordered what broth flavor we wanted. Two flavors come in one divided pot, so we tried the spicy and the vegetable broth. I loved the spicy broth! This restaurant you share one or two pots with your table, so please be comfortable sharing the pot with each other at your table. There are lots of options for your hotpot! The option of portioning out your own amounts for several ingredients, (cause sometimes you don't want a plate of the same ingredients) but one item of lots of items, is a great idea. There are so many options for your hot pot. Lots of seafood like crab, squid, fish, octopus, shrimps with heads on and off, frog legs, mussels, clams, crawfish, snails, and more. There are lots of veggies, dumplings, fish balls, quail eggs, tofu, meats like beef, chicken, pork, pork belly, blood (which I like), tripe, fish, and more. There are raw pre-plated items yet I felt like it's too much on the plate, (the plates are large as well) especially if you have little children with you that love noodles, cabbage, daikon radish, yet the only option to grab is a rather large pre-plated amount. I can see an opportunity to unintentionally waste food. I also can see that one plate could serve the whole table, but that is only if everyone likes the same thing, which is not the case for my family. Possibly have the option of much smaller plates with only a very small sized amount of certain ingredients as an option to prevent food waste, (along with the regular sized plates for big families). Even as an adult, I didn't want full plate of noodles, or half a sliced up daikon, or a large plate of veggies. Just a little bit of everything would have been great. The sushi was delicious!!! The salmon and tuna is fresh and the rolls were perfect sized! Not huge and very well rolled! Fresh avocado and cucumber really went well with the rolls. We very much enjoyed the sushi rolls! There are hot food options, like fried dumplings, chicken wings, fried fish and chicken, egg rolls, filled bao buns, sticky rice, fried rice, a rice cooker filled with fresh hot rice, hot and sour soup, miso soup, and so much more. Just in case you are still hungry, they have a menu full of a variety of skewers you can order. There are fresh fruits, desserts, and a freezer of different ice creams and fruit pops to top of your meal! It's soooo much fun Hotpotting!!!! HONEST REVIEW: Really disappointing experience and I would not come back. TLDR; table almost caught on fire, dirty plates, dismissive management. As soon as we walked over to our table, it started SPARKING and SMOKING from underneath. That is a MAJOR safety issue. When we brought it up to whom we thought was the manager (she had her hair up in a bun on the back of her head), the manager moved the table, it sparked even more, and then she tried to blame someone in our party for moving it. She said "It smoked because you moved the table," even though we had literally just arrived and had not even properly sat down yet. We told her that no one had moved the table. And even if we did, why is your table a fire hazard ??? The tables shouldn't even be smoking or sparking up in the first place. Even our waiter, Evan, ran away from the table when it started sparking again. So this clearly was not us exaggerating the situation. Evan was very kind and professional the entire time, but the way management handled it was frustrating and dismissive. To make things worse, they still seated another family at that same table afterward, even with a baby, instead of closing it off. On top of that, the plates were dirty. Many had stains, crumbs, or leftover food on them, and we were there right at opening. I had to go through the stack just to find one that looked clean. We were one of the first groups there right when they opened, so there was no excuse for dirty dishes. The food was okay, nothing special. Evan was the only positive part of the experience. My family and I took advantage of the 50% off promotion going on. My first thought was that it was very clean and nicely decorated. Our waiter was awesome, he took us around the restaurant and showed us where all of the foods were as this was different than any other hot pot we were used to. Unlike other places, you have to get the foods yourself vs them bringing it to you. There were so many selections it was almost overwhelming. They also had the regular food you would see at a Chinese buffet which was delicious, and my son's favorite, the all you can drink boba tea. There was also sushi and skewer menu. It was a delightful experience. Between the hostess and Rony, our server, they were so welcoming and explained everything clearly and even showed us around for a moment to explain how it all worked. The food was a delight in its self. The food was fresh and Rony had us try the pineapple with a lemon squeezed on top after we ate everything and it was the perfect tiny dessert. It was very easy to hear ourselves and the whole restaurant felt comfortable. I enjoyed Eve Ty thing from beginning to end! read more

As a frequent hot pot customer in the area I was excited to give this place a try because of the seafood options..of course this place would be fun if you have never experienced a hotpot ..but this one Absolutely so unsanitary !!!!! To keep getting up to get your own drink is such a disappointment too. All of the utensils were in the food hairs on the plates that hold them etc... the meats were in a bin in a slide fridge with utensils inside of the food . I don't know how this place hasn't been shutdown by the health department yet. read more

This was our first time, and we were unsure of how it worked. The waitress (Emma) took the time to explain the menu and even walked us around the restaurant, explaining each station. It may not be the largest buffet style restaurant, but it definitely was one with a higher quality of food options, and the most willingly helpful staff we've encountered in some time. It's a dinning experience, not just another place to eat. Everyone has an opinion, so all I will say is give it a try. Hopefully you'll have as good an experience as we did. read more

Staff were nice especially Eric who was extremely hard working. The atmosphere was too chaotic. The drink and the sauce stations were nightmares and filthy. The sliding glass door for the refrigerated meat is a huge potential of glass break or someone getting their fingers slammed on. Now comes the taste of all broths. Straight up coming from all powder, bland, no sweetness or salt. Very under seasoned. The prepared hot courses were refilled by staff. But again, bland. We paid at 50% off during the promotion but we won't pay full price it's not worth it especially the environment was like an Asian market. Urban Hot pot is much better and it's offers better quality meat. My family of 5 didn't feel so well and thought we would end up with food poisoning but luckily we didn't. This is my first time there, and I went with my hubby and son for a nice family dinner. The decor is wonderful, and the place is very clean. The service from the time you walk through the door is very warm and friendly. Our server was Evan, and she was so attentive, kind, and professional. She was nice and gave us a lot of great suggestions. She gave us exceptional service and exemplifies what great service should look like. There were so many selections of food that you didn't know where to start. Great food and fresh as well. We went during the 50% special; our total bill was only $47 for 3 people, and I can tell you my husband and 10-year-old son can put away some food (they ate so much I thought they were gonna charge us extra lol). The price at regular price would be well worth it, as you leave with a full belly. If you don't like the hot pot situation, cooking your own food, fret not, because they have a large hot food section with MANY delicious dishes. The Sushi is to die for, it was so good and fresh, and the rolls they give you are huge. I had everything Sushi, hot pot, and the hot-cooked bar lol. Let's not forget the dessert bar, and I loved the boba tea. They have so many selections that is kid freindly and kids' favorites if you have a picky child. I loved the manager/host Mindy, who was so attentive and was just very kind, and her warm smile made it all the better. She is very funny too, made me smile and laugh, which is hard to do. I will definitely come back even on regular price days because you get way more than you pay for. This place is great, and I enjoyed everything we had. The food was so good. My favorite would have to be the beef skewers. Large variety of seafood, veggies, etc. On another note, huge thank you to Wawa! She was an amazing server, always cleaning up our empty plates, taking our food orders, and making sure we are having a good time. read more

I like their concept. Buffet style hotpot. I don't have to wait for my order to be served.

So I want to give 3.5 stars. The food is overall good there just some parts that are a little, annoying i guess id say. First its like a buffet/hotpot place, right up my alley. One part is buffet items, dumplings, fried rice, chicken wings, then the other sections is hotpot items. Smaller portions so you dont waste anything which is good cause other hot pot places load you up with one item order. They also have sushi to order and skewers. The skewers is the first annoyance. The menu shows elaborate skewers so we ordered two, the lamb and the beef. It came out with 4 tiny pieces on each one with this orange seasoning on it. No veg on em like the picture shows on the menu. The seasoning was really over powering, not my thing might be yours. Then comes the drinks. Its self service. So you have to get up everytime to get a drink at a fountain station which is annoying especially if you're cooking your hotpot and want something to drink, you gotta walk across the place to get it. Then comes the waiter. The one we had was nice, Helpful. He was just too overpowering. Stood 3ft from us. Always asking if we need anything (skewers and sushi) which sounds stupid to complain about but we felt like we couldn't relax or converse with each other cause he was always there and watching us. Kept walking up and pressing buttons on the hotpot constantly. Also with the amount of self service i had to do including the drinks i feel tipping the normal amount shouldn't be expected. (I did tip normal amount) overall its decent. Its worth a try. read more
