What a complete waste of time. The instructor cancelled the class with no notification whatsoever. Proceed with caution!!

I have participated in multiple paint/drinking experiences offered by different vendors. This one was by far the WORST!! The event was at Bar Louie in Foxboro, MA. My friend had really wanted to use this vendor due to the painting that was offered, the New England Patriots symbol. Here was our experience: 1. We arrive about 20 minutes before the class started, there were no more seats next to each other, we alerted the instructor and she offered that we could sit in back to back booths. No thank you, then she was able to find a small bar table to accommodate us, however it did not fit everything on it. 2. They did not have the right colors to paint the picture, so instead of using navy blue for the symbol she had us use bright.baby blue! And then mix colors to get green for the grass behind the symbol, why not just bring green? 3. The instructor was unable to be heard and rarely repeated directions, mainly because we were at a bar, and bars are always loud. I'd expect to be in a function rooom for something like this. 4. When she was able to be heard, her instructions were incomplete or unclear i.e: "Draw a rectangle", my response was: Where?, How big is it?, What color is it? All of those details have always been much more clear at other experiences. All in all, think before you go to Paint Nite. There is nothing that beats going to a place that is dedicated to this type of experience i.e Paint Bar, Pallettes, Paint & Vino. read more

I signed up for this class through Groupon since I love succulents. I definitely wasn't as pleased by this class as I was by the Paint Nite class. Firstly, it felt like the hosts were trying to stall for time the entire night to distract from the fact that assembling the terrarium took very little time. This made me feel as though there wasn't a lot of value in doing the project this way. The class was a fair amount of money for a simple project. The price of drinks and food were not included in the ticket to also be clear. I was under the mistaken belief that there would be free nibbles for the group. Secondly, although I enjoyed the direction of the group leaders, it was clear they were told to push drinks and tipping on the group. I was surprised at the tipping. Third, the parking was REALLY bad. We had to drive around the block multiple times to find a spot as almost everywhere in the surrounding area was either full or permit parking only. Overall, I thought Paint Nite was a much better value for your time and money if you like this sort of class/experience. read more

I signed up for the Groupon offer and bought 4 coupons for 100 bucks because i wanted to do something different with my girlfriend. The first outing was just O.K it was in Quincy's Fox and Hound. I do have to say the lighting was quite poor for painting. I tried 6 separate times to sign up another nite at a deferent location and was not able to complete the transaction. I contacted the support folks through e-mail explained the issue and requested a number to call. there reply "We apologize for the technical difficulties. We are aware of the problem and are working to get it resolved ASAP. Please check back again soon!". Still no resolution.. and the night is we wanted is sold out. read more

I got a deal to go to this so I thought what the heck, let's try something new. I was running late due to work and showed up on an empty stomach. I was glad to know I'd be able to order an appetizer and of course I had plenty of booze. So for me, this was Drunk Painting 101 but somehow the painting I made came out good. As long as you don't take yourself too seriously, this can be a fun night. The conversations alone are worth attending because they are hilarious and absurd. read more

Ah, I feel guilty giving Paint Nite only through stars because everyone else loves it!! I am writing this review based on my one experience I have had for Paint Nite. I went with a group of friends for an event at the Joshua Tree back in the summer. I was really looking forward to it, but when we arrived, we all thought the painting looked pretty different than the one online (colors, etc.). However, I love to paint so I didn't really care. The reason I am mostly giving this 3 stars is because I was disappointed with the artist. The artist was really vague and in my opinion didn't offer a lot of feedback to the students or much guidance. I was surprised because I think a lot of their paintings are great but I wasn't as impressed with this particular teacher. The staff were pretty friendly and everything was convenient, but I didn't think it compared to the Paint Bar in Newtonville. I found the Paint Bar to have more explicit instructions and be more well organized. I would give the Paint Nite another chance though because I think it's a great idea and I think another artist would provide me with a better experience. I do want to say that Paint Nite donated a gift card to a silent auction for a charity event I was organizing, which was awesome. I appreciate them supporting a local nonprofit and it helped increase our profit, so for this I give them 5 stars! read more

Boozing and painting, Paint Nite was fun. It is exactly what it said it is. This is like art class in grade school, except everyone is intoxicated. By no mean this is for serious painters, they give you grade school acrylics and random paint brushes. Mine was at the Friendly Toast. While I did make some new friends on that night, I do wish that we weren't as crammed. There no space to put anything. My beer was hidden behind the canvas, I have to be super careful to knock it over. read more

I am so frustrated! Why does Plant Nite keep cancelling events? I live in San Jose, CA and my boyfriend and I have been trying to attend Plant Nite since June. When my boyfriend reached out about a refund, you had the audacity to refuse his money back because we have to go through GROUPON?! I scheduled our last try for 10/28/18. We went to Paint Nite when it was hosted by Friend Street Cafe. I really enjoyed myself. I feel like I don't exercise my creative side often enough. I can be too critical and a perfectionist. I like that I was able to be guided through the painting without over analyzing it and I left with a painting that I actually like. It was a little cramped at this location, but it served it's purpose. The staff was friendly and overall it was a good experience. read more

This is a SCAM!! i bought a voucher for $25 on groupon to go to this event. Upon signing up they sent me an email saying I had to pay another $13 for supplies so I used my credit card to make that purchase online. The company took it upon themselves to charge me the full price of $56 dollars....whatttttt!! I had no idea as there were no prompts asking if I agreed to pay that price .. I basically spent $100 for Plant Nite which was the worst experience , the host made inappropriate jokes, talked about getting drunk and high the whole time and admitted she didn't want to go home so she was going to drag the night on to avoid her in-laws. The customer serve is awful, after finding the charge on my credit card bill I contacted them to have the issue resolved and they basically told me to try the voucher again on another Plant Nite event. Unbelievable. I've never been more dissatisfied with an event or company. I wish I could tell everyone not to even bother, safe yourself the disappointment and aggravation and go to Michaels craft store and buy everything you need to make a terrariums. I refuse to support a company who steals it's paintings from other artists. What is supposedly an "original" artwork is not. I went to one of their paint nights in Worcester before I realized some of their paintings were in fact from other BYOB paint studio and I didn't care for them anyways. My painting was nothing like what the person had painted and there was no guidance whatsoever. I will never go back! There are MUCH better ones in Massachusetts (just check out my reviews)! read more

I attended Paint Nite recently with David (?) at East End Grill and I had a great time! David was entertaining and helpful with our paintings. The waitstaff was attentive with our drinks. The only downsides were 1) due to the setup of the room, it was difficult to see what David was working on and 2) the assistance were nice enough, but not very helpful. I am not sure if this was due to a lack of knowledge or enthusiasm. I would definitely recommend this activity! read more

I purchased a ticket to a night event in Grand Rapids, MI. Something unexpected happened and I had to cancel. The website offers no phone number to speak to someone regarding a reschedule, instead there is a "contact us" online submit ion that promises to get back to you within 48 hours. I've been waiting 2 weeks. To the company - please provide local numbers to contact your paint night hosts. Keep your promises to get back in touch with customers. To people thinking about buying this, just don't. There are better companies out there that do the same thing. read more

I went to Paint Nite at Clery's on a Tuesday night and had a great time. The space was perfect for the event (who knew the basement of Clery's could clean up so beautifully?) and it was a really fun crowd. Our instructor, Shannon, was awesome and literally everyone in the room ended up with a nice final poduct--testament to her teaching skills! We arrived a few minutes late but the folks from Paint Nite were incredibly accomodating and set us up with our own table so that me and my two fellow 'artists' could sit together. We enjoyed wine, great music, and great attitudes from everyone. Such a fun event! We all said we'd do it again--thanks to Shannon and the Paint Nite crew! read more

I thought that this would be a great Idea for me and my husband to have a wonderful date night. Well looks like we were never able to go. We bought a groupon and they rescheduled on us 2 times. We had baby sitters all ready and then nothing. I am so upset because i think this may have been fun but we will never know. My mum and I planted one of the same plants in each container. Both were dropping leaves the day after we planted them. The day after that my plant was looking extremely shriveled. On day 3 it was most certainly dead. My mum's died 2 days after then another plant of mine died a couple days after again. A plant that dies 3 days after re-potting is anything but healthy, sturdy, or strong. We were actually told by the coordinator of the event that she would be willing to replace our plants if they died soon after re-potting, 2 of my plants and 1 of my mum's plants soon died after re-potting. Why would she promise us that and you say something completely different? read more

2nd experience at Paint Nite and it was wonderful! Friendly group, wonderful instructor Jessica F., and nice easy painting. Can't wait to do this again. The only negative thing was the terrible choice in venue: Our House East. Even if the participants are not eating or drinking, the bathroom was terrible and there wasn't even soap or towels to wash paint off your hands! I would suggest Paint Nite visit the venues beforehand and choose places that have a better atmosphere. read more

I went probably a few months ago. We got there early so we got great seats. We had to wait a little bit for our waiter, but it was fine. Food was great at the location where we at. Artist was pretty helpful. Our paintings came out pretty good for amateurs. read more

The experience overall was almost satisfactory. The venue was a restaurant, but the area of the restaurant where this event was held was tightly packed. So much so that I could disturb the canvas of the next person if I moved my hand just a smidge. The theme of the painting was A Midnight in Paris, and while the event was supposedly for people of all artistic abilities, the artist did not make those who were not as talented (like myself) feel welcome. In fact, on the contrary. Rachel was rather brusque and unprofessional and made some unseemly comments. Not sure if this is a reflection of this artist in particular or the overall vibe of artists who work for Paint Nite. The only upside was that I was able to take my finished painting home. I might consider attending this event at a different venue or with a different artist. read more

Love Paint Nite! The instructor was great and made it very fun. I've never painted but my painting looked like a professional did it! I want to have a whole wall of them. Will definitely be going several more times. Make sure you use a coupon code tho, $45 is a bit pricey. read more

My roommates and I had such a great time at Paint Nite. We bought a voucher online and went the next week. Our Paint Nite was at the Green Briar a decent bar that I had never been to. It was a little cramped but overall we had a blast! The instructor walked us through the instructions step by step not moving to slowly or to quickly. She gave us ample time to drink and chat with our friends understand we weren't there for an extrme art class. While I have 0 artistic ability I came home with a pretty decent painting as a reward. After I got home I went back online and bought 3 more vouchers to try out some different pictures! read more

This was my first time attending a Plant Nite event. Although it was an interesting event, it was not as thought out as I presumed it would be. First, the area this event took place was right in the front of the restaurant which was a bit awkward. Second, they welcomed people to order food and drinks ...but the food was served AS we were mixing dirt + adding the plants making it quite hard to enjoy a meal. I understand I didn't have to order anything but if it's there as an option, maybe give us 30min to eat and mingle before things get 'dirty'. Finally, the deal breaker for me was the instructor. She didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. She mentioned several times that she was 'not sure' exactly which route we were taking and she even showed us which model we were not using which just threw us off because it was the coolest looking one. I have no artistic talent at all - none - but I still had a great time and highly recommend this. It's all set up for your to paint when you arrive. The instructor plays excellent music and shows you what to do. And you can do the painting or not! One preson in our group was a trained artist and came with a friend who was a novice- no problem. I followed the instructor pretty closely and her instructions were very clear and easy to do. When I needed help (my depiction of a green lawn was having major 'issues') she demonstrated how to do it at my easel and I followed right along. I also sat next to several 'repeat painters' who were friendly and said it was a blast. They were right. Donahue's was an excellent venue - good pub food, drinks easily available, and easy parking. I'm already trying to get friends to sign up for the next one! And I am hanging my painting in my kitchen where I can admire it every day! read more

This was my third paint nite. First one was great, only about 20 people. Second one had 45 people elbow to elbow and back to back in a very tiny area. The third one was my last. 45 people , again in a tiny area, but half the group showed up at 6pm and the Groupon purchasers showed up at 7pm, Groupon's advertised time. Artist was in a terrible mood from the start and only got worse when the second half arrived. Second group was upset and complained for an hour, first group could no longer hear the artist, who by now kept her back to the group and concentrated on her painting. Seating was so tight you couldn't even get up and walk out without having 9 people have to get up. Great concept, but 1 artist for 45 people in a tiny area is nuts. read more

I have been to two Paint Nites, and about half a dozen Painting With a Twist Classes. The first Paint Nite went OK, although a little too crowded, and no way to seat 4 together. I went to the second one I paid for, but didn't stay to paint the painting. The painting advertised was significantly different than the sample painting the artist brought, and was going to teach. It looked like a Kindergartner did it--color palette entirely different and no detail. I could have finger-painted it! When I showed others both pictures (I saved the one from the internet, and took a photo of the one from the class), they all were surprised at how different they were, and how childish and crappy the class version was. The artist could (or would?) not give me a contact number to call, and the venue gave me a number that went to voice-mail. When I asked the artist why the pictures were so different, he said he didn't have much to go by. (He couldn't look it up on the website, like everyone who signed up for it?) I did not stay to paint the picture. When I emailed Paint Nite to inform them of the issue, and asked for an alternative night, they said they said they were "unable" to accommodate me, and only offered 50% off on another night. Why would I do that? I can go to Painting With a Twist, be able to see the sample ahead of time, pay the same or less, and have another time to go to do touch-ups or other changes to my finished product if I choose. Further, they were not "unable", they were "unwilling". Painting With a Twist also gives you better light and a little more room--you're not packed in like you are with a Paint Nite event. Since they have their own facilities, they also are better equipped with sinks for washing up after--you're not sharing the tiny bar bathroom with all the other painters and patrons of the bar. I am not going to get suckered again--I'll go to some of the other social painting events by other companies! read more

Not impressed at all with this service. I bought tickets for this event as a gift for my cousin for Christmas. We traveled about 45 minutes for the terrarium that we wanted. Upon arrival they told us that the event was cancelled. We were not notified of this. The company told me that because I ordered it through Groupon there was nothing I could do. Groupon gave me the money back to use on their site and I was able to choose a different gift. read more

We went to Plant Nite on Tues (taco Tues) Feb 20 @ Triangle Char & Bar, Charleston, SC. 1st, service was slow& un-attentive; unusual for this place & very disappointing As for Plant Nite, ha ha, horrible from the word go! The chic teaching began with saying the owner usually teaches the class isn't here & she usually gives a long intro but I don't do all that, I'm a pro photographer. This is my 2nd time doing this & it DEFINITELY SHOWED! She was not organized. She has no personality! At one point, she said: ok, talk to the people across from you that you don't know. She didn't have enough supplies already out on the tables: rocks, gravel, soil. When it was time to pick our little plastic dinosaur to put in our "plant creation" she brought them around in a packed Ziploc bag that you pretty much had to empty to even see what was in it? after the event ended after only an HOUR! She was so very happy to say if you would like your picture PROFESSIONALLY taken, just meet me back by the sign then she took a picture of you with her cell phone. I feel like we got the CHEAP version & didn't get our money's worth! DISAPPOINTED! read more

We were taking my sister to plant nite in Georgetown for her birthday. It was scheduled at Tin Lizzies for 2pm. When we arrived, we were surprised to see the restaurant didn't open til 4pm. 3 stars because it was fun to be with friends have a few drinks and paint. Instructor was a friendly college student. For $45 though you don't get much. Little instruction, very basic colors of acrylics, and a crappy bent canvas without anything on the back for hanging it (even after hanging, mine still wont lie flat against the wall). I thought a glass of wine was included like when I'd done it with other companies in other cities, but unfortunately had to pay for my drinks. Was fine because I had a groupon but wouldn't pay full price. read more

I went to paint nite last night in Hudson. It was fun at first, but then the instructor started to criticize and make fun of my painting. He made numerous rude comments toward me. I am not an artist. This was supposed to be a fun night out with friends and this instructor kind of ruined it. He is not funny or entertaining at all. He thinks he is. All of his sex jokes weren't funny either. He should have caught on when no one was laughing. He should stick to painting and quit his teaching job. I want to say that I do think paint nite can be great with a good instructor. Attended my first Paint Nite last night at Burbank Bar & Grille and I had a blast! First off, Burbank Bar & Grille is a charming little place and the food was oh-so good! My friend and I always order appetizers and share with each other. That's enough to fill us up. I ordered the Mac & Cheese with bacon and jalapenos, and she ordered the Quesadilla and Tater Tots with cheese and bacon. Oh my goodness! Can I just tell you how heavenly the Mac & Cheese was!! Anyhow, back on topic. Since we were early, we placed our purses at the seats we wanted to sit in and let them finish setting up. Unfortunately 3 girls who showed up late, held everyone up who was ready to rock'n'roll, because they insisted that they sit together and they expected Christian and Eric (Paint teachers) to accommodate them by making someone move for them or set up another table. Finally, 10 minutes later, the girls are seated and set up and we all begin painting. Christian is a great teacher and explained every step. He also took time to walk around and see if anyone needed individual attention. Eric was also helping anyone who may have needed it. Now I am not artsy in any way shape or form. Creative, yes. Artsy, NO. My drawings consist of stick figures. But this was so easy, and my painting didn't come out to bad. This isn't your typical "Learn how to paint" class, so don't go in expecting high quality stuff. The paint brushes are you run-of-the-mill, used for every event type of brushes but they get the job done! You're given a palate (plate) of 5 colors, and mixing between those colors is how your get your other shades. If you want to enjoy an evening with your friends laughing, having a few drinks, maybe a bite to eat, and painting, then I definitely suggest trying Paint Nite! I will definitely be back! My girlfriend booked us reservations for Paint Nite at Brighton Beer Garden and naturally I was excited for this. I painted at the Urban Art Bar last year and had a really great time so I was expecting similar things from Paint Nite. The setup was similar, you go in and pick a canvas, grab an apron/paint and wait for the instructor. However, the differences were apparent almost immediately. The lighting was really poor so half the time I was painting I couldn't see the tone of the colors that I was painting. Instruction was also very average as half the time I felt like I was trying to improvise/felt like I was painting with little instruction at all. I also felt that it was impossible to see what the instructor was doing at times due to the seating arrangement. This wasn't an issue during my time at the Urban Art Bar where I felt like the instruction was very clear for someone who had little/no painting experience and every seat was a good seat. To be fair the instructor did walk around at times checking up on individuals and was encouraging. Drinks here are typical as to what you'd expect from a Boston bar $6-$8 a beer. I think I would give Paint Nite another shot, but if I had a choice I'd probably go to Urban Art Bar first. read more
