City Farmers Nursery - Butterflies love this plant! I took this with a telephoto lens, personally love that this part was dry and the top was thriving

The best place in City Heights and my favorite San Diego nursery! I can be here all day -- and so…read morecan my pup Enzo. First of all, the place is huge. There's so much to see, so bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and comfy shoes since the ground can be uneven. You'll encounter steps, slopes, and some dirt paths. The parking lot is small and fills up fast, so I like to get there early, especially if I'm doing a big plant haul. It can be tricky loading plants when you're parked far away. What doesn't this place have? There's an onsite bar and grill that's dog‑friendly, has live music, and serves brunch on weekends. There's also a cute boutique flower/gift shop with curated items perfect for any plant lover. They offer free local classes to help educate the community -- I've taken the shrub class, but they have tons of gardening‑related workshops. They have chickens, birds, turtles, and more. They care for and rescue animals, which is amazing. They sell compost, and they have every plant you can imagine, plus a large selection of seeds, pots, tools, beekeeping supplies, and canning equipment. I love that this is a neighborhood, locally owned nursery that truly gives back. They do so much to educate the community and promote sustainability. Please support them and get your next plant baby here. A perfect place for kids and pups!

This plant nursery/gardening store/casual zoo is a little funky, but all heart, with all sorts of plants, and everything you might need, including advice, to start your garden, or do a little landscaping. It's a breath of fresh air in the heart of the city of San Diego. Adjacent is Nate's Garden Grill, which serves up delicious food, which you can eat to live music on the weekends. Google Nate's Garden Grill for more info. Altho they've enlarged and paved their parking area, this place is so popular, you may have to wait a few minutes to get a space.

I was convinced these delectable fruits would remain a treasured memory, until I found Organic Wild. It's a super small, family nursery; literally they have filled every inch of their home with exotic plants. Every. Single. Inch. Unlike the other local big-time nurseries where you are under threat of a serious hand-slapping if you so much as touch these plants, here you are encouraged to smell and touch. They bring out samples so you can even try them (leading us to literally double our initial spending budget)! The most charming part is how you can tell you are dealing with people of passion vs money-driven corporations is how they dislike wasting seeds. Many of our plants we purchased had some volunteer seedling. By this means, we added everything from a baby macadamia tree to mystery seedlings that we eagerly await to identify. We can't wait to go back. We are now permanent customers!
